  1. Ouch! That is a tough shift; been there, done that.
  2. Excellent. We both run the ASG XP18 Commander, which is a variation on a Glock. The lad had his serviced by Sam at Kingdom of Airsoft, who did an amazing job on it.
  3. CO2 is much better in winter. My son and I have been running CO2 pistols for a few years now and would not go back. Which one have you bought?
  4. If you want to obtain a UKARA registration, which is actually just a site membership number, you have to play 3 games at that site over a minimum of two months, e.g. the third game being 56 days or more after the first. There is no other way of doing it. UKARA registration only provides a defence relating to airsoft toys, not to any other form of imitation firearms. You probably should have checked the rules on importing imitation firearms before you ordered one from overseas.
  5. If it doesn't, I can bring a gun for you for the 7th.
  6. I have booked. Same here. I cannot remember when I last used full auto; I very occasionally use a three round burst.
  7. Thanks for what seems to be a very objective review. It is a long way from me so I will probably never play there but, as DanBow stated, it is good and rare to see such a review.
  8. A 7.4v battery with standard 18:1 gears and a standard G&G motor will be a bit sluggish. The G&G ETUs are designed to work with higher voltage batteries; the best thing to do is to swap the board for the Perun ETU++. Not only is it better quality and works with 7.4v batteries, but you also get adjustable precocking.
  9. The G&G ETU generally does not like 7.4v batteries.
  10. Having marshalled and played at Battle Lakes in the "good old days", I would like to see it offering skirmishes again. However, is there enough space in the safe zone for significantly larger numbers? The safe zone seemed very small last time I was there compared to what it used to be. A FB group would be good, as would advertising events widely on social media. I prefer Saturdays but Sundays are fine as well.
  11. I am not arguing that he is claiming to have been anything that he was not, just that the term "veteran" may not be entirely appropriate for someone who did six months national service. However, I do find the UK definition vaguely ridiculous; both of my sons would qualify as veterans if they ended their reserve service now, but I know that they would be utterly embarrassed to apply the description to themselves.
  12. Indeed it is; I am not sure that I would describe someone who was conscripted for six months as a veteran.
  13. My understanding is that he was a six month conscript. If anyone has different information, I would be interested.
  14. Film sims are indeed not as popular as skirmishes. Imperium has structures, trench systems, armoured vehicles and a very strong social media presence. Battle Lakes is almost invisible. When we ran skirmishes there, we regularly got 80+ people.
  15. Fair enough; it would be great if you could attend.
  16. Excellent! The more, the merrier! Should we all carry a rolled up copy of the Times so that we can identify each other?
  17. It is big, with some interestingly varied terrain.
  18. It's in my diary. Hopefully, a few others from here will make it as well.
  19. It turns out that the fake bolt is disconnected and, in the seller's words, it rattles and moves around. That probably should have been explained in the advert.
  20. It was a bit like that last time I went, which was a few years ago. I used to marshal there when it was just Battle Lakes and drew large numbers; the site suffered from bottlenecking at a couple of points, which probably will not be the case with fewer players. Is Tony/Val still running the site? They have game days on 7th and 8th December; I can only go on the 7th as I have a rehearsal on the Sunday. Is anyone else up for that day? I believe that @Jez_Armstrong is a regular there.
  21. My Classic Army HK53 would disagree with this statement from LCT about the LK53: "The Taiwanese company LCT is thrilled to offer the first LK53 subcarbine replica on the airsoft market."
