With the clone wars stronger than ever I thought it might be an idea to have a thread based on how to spot what’s real and what’s not , to be clear this is not a clone bashing thread , but simply a way to hopefully help you get what is advertised , be it parts , optics , lasers/torches or maybe even RIF’s themselves . just because it says Aimpoint/Eotech/Magpul/Surefire doesn’t mean it is , even the packaging is being cloned to a high standard so don’t get get duped . I’ll start with a simple Magpul CTR stock in FDE , there will be better clones than others and I’ve picked a “Tak Tak” variant which retails at around £15-£20 in the UK VS a Gebuine CTR which retails around £75-£80 , the clone Says Magpul on it so in passing looks legit , the biggest tell is usually going to be the colour but as we know everyone’s photos and lighting looks a bit different and if you have nothing genuine to compare to when it arrives you are just taking the sellers word . heres a few comparisons , and highlighted differences between the two which should be easy to spot , Genuine is CTR is either Top or to the Left . main points to note - Genuine will have black tabs where the stock pad locates NOT TAN Genuine will have a molding mark on the underside , oval shaped . Genuine stock pad will have an “F” in the lower right hand side “pocket” Text spacing , the Genuine will be bolder and spaced correctly Length , generally the Clones will be a touch longer . Extra Text , the genuine will have extra text in the lower frame , plus batch / manufacturing numbers just above the locking lever . Hope this helps , as time permits I will add more comparisons .

Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
JimFromHorsham replied to Mack's topic in General Discussion
https://airsoft-forums.uk/classifieds/item/61767-magpul-ctr-stock/ £30 seems a bit rich for a clone with Missing screws ??♂️ -
Have spent £££’s with BoomArms , never an issue so I’d say just chalk it up as blip , annoying yes , but I’d perhaps of give them a little more time given their excellent track record with my own personal orders . also , I never order anything from HK I need urgently ( which is nothing because it’s just airsoft stuff ) and never expect an Amazon prime service ?? .

I think your best possible chance of happiness is pistol & light specific but I appreciate that’s an expensive game to play ! I would perhaps email them a list of the pistols you want to fit in the universal holster type and see what they say ?
-
There’s kydex and then there’s kydex and I would always reccomend a holster that is pistol specific , the “universal” options are always a compromise and are usually the least secure . first up , make sure it is kydex , not just molded plastic , most proper kydex holsters will also have a tension adjuster ( nuts and bolts with rubber in between ! ) Also bear in mind most proper holsters are sized for the genuine pistol and light , airsoft pistols and clone lights can sometimes be out of spec and again cause fitting issues . for me , for a light bearing holster it’s Safariland , for simple pistol only it’s either a genuine BHI Serpa or leather pancake style ( BHI / Galco ) Ive had a couple of deadly customs kydex holsters and tbh wasn’t impressed , one didn’t fit the pistol and light it advertised at all , the other just didn’t have enough retention adjustment and was a poor fit around some of the controls . these are just my opinions / experiences , others will vary .

measurement needed - non threaded M9
JimFromHorsham replied to Spartan09's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Across three berettas ( TM based) Guarder steel outer barrel 14.6mm Tokyo Marui m9 standard plastic - 14.8mm tokyo Marui m9a1 , standard but “chrome” finish - 14.9mm the laylax fitting you have linked is a compression type ( like a plumbers fitting with an olive washer ) so it should fit a few different brands , how secure though could be anyone’s guess but I’d imagine a smear of thread lock would do the job. -

So same old story then , Royal gone to shit and what’s going on …. Oh … actually it wasn’t Royal Mail after all ???

Appreciate you may just “want it done” but is there something specific you’re struggling with ? I ask as you say to just finish it off ? Whilst I’m no expert I have put a few together over the years for myself and a few friends it may just be a case of some simple guidance to help you get to the end .

I’ve had no problems running standard TM pistols on Green gas in nearly 20yrs , in the height of summer you might want to drop down a bit . All my converted TM pistols run happily on propane . YMMV .

that my friend is a debate I’ll happily bow out of and let you make your own mind up ???
-
in my experience if you want functional , the least amount of fuss and most amount of upgrade parts I’d stick with TM or at least TM based & compatible . however , that is just my experience ??

New AK Pew Guidance? Lightweight AK AEGs On The Market?
JimFromHorsham replied to H0bbsy's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Have a look at the Well-Pro Ak series , there’s a couple of polymer variants which are suprisingly solid and reliable .
