@Crossy Check out if there are any sites you don't recognise near your area on PlayAirsoft. The `/sites` page uses general IP location to show you sites nearest to you, so hopefully, you'll find what you're looking for. Let me know if there are sites you know of that aren't there and I'll make sure to add them soon. Welcome to the forum!

I've not tried it but it's on my list of things to check out. It's been a while since I played A3, given that I normally play co-op with my buddy. If anyone of you plays Deadside or Insurgency: Sandstorm, then send me a DM and I'll invite you to our private server for some co-op, bashing IA a bit in hardcore, full tactical mode with ISMC mod and custom maps.

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
@PseudotectonicThanks for the feedback! Really good to hear from the community. I’m currently working on a V2 of the website, since there will be a slight shift towards how things work in the future. The design will change as well. Currently, most locations don’t even have photos on them (which I would prefer), let alone any logos or emblems to use, since most information is crowdsourced. The map is therefore used as a placeholder, but the idea is to use a photo when one is available. I’ve not implemented this yet; it’s on my list. 👌 Now, change log is a good idea that I explored last year, and it hasn’t happened purely because the current software stack would make it very challenging to create something that doesn’t have a lot of benefit. So far, I try to summarise changes to the site quarterly on the blog, which might give people a better idea of the status of the project. I’m happy to ponder this once V2 is out, as I’ll have much more room technologically to weigh different features. -
Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
It’s been a bit quiet about the website, since I’m working on its second incarnation in my free time. However, I’ve made some minor updates recently to the way certain things are displayed on the homepage to give you better way to view what’s out there. In addition, I just reviewed and published close to 20 new locations throughout the UK, bringing the total to 171 sites (161 are currently open). There’s plenty of places to play in the mainland, though I’d like to see more locations from the outer edges, predominantly Scotland, mid-Wales, and smaller British Isles, as I’m sure there’s a ton of great places I haven’t heard about. Got any intel? Share it: submit a new location! PS: If you have feedback about the website, use this thread to let me know. I can’t make any promises about immediate improvements while I’m building PlayAirsoft V2, but I still wanna hear it all: good and bad. I only have one condition: be constructive. This is hobby project of mine, not a full-time job (I wish it was, though). -
Does a real firearm license allow me to not be a UKARA registered player?

i’m glad your opinion is a matter-of-factly rebuttal focused on addressing my points rather than a poor judgment of my understanding of the current memetic reality we live in. /s -

The way things go around in the UK (and the world) is worrying and baffling at the same time. Some old farts under pressure from woke social justice warriors (“or else I won’t vote for you!”) and shady orgs that have no idea what they’re talking about manage to impose further and further restrictions on us, citizens, just because they can, in the name of something nobody can grasp: safety. The problem I think is in the toxic polarisation of arguments and lack of nuanced, deep conversations between people. We just take in what the media, the politicians, our neighbours, our coworkers currently support and try to fit in, because nobody wants to be the odd one out. Instead of thinking we react with the first response. It takes real guts to stand up and say “you’re talking rubbish mate” following with a coherent counterpoint that will prompt that person to think for themselves. Given our track record within the past two years, I don’t think we have much time left until our teaspoons and kitchen towels will be banned too, since *they pose incredible danger to society as a whole.* For goodness sake, they could be an offensive weapon, AM I RIGHT LADS?! 🤣 It’s the time of great coddling of the minds and bodies. We can make fun of it all and cover our laughter/cry with cynicism/memes, but that won’t help make things better. "Hard times make strong men,” and if you don’t stand up for what you enjoy, don’t cry when they come for your beloved toys and boomsticks. -
Hey @Richyboy, welcome to the forum. There are a few good sites near you. Not so long ago, I tried West Midlands F.O.B. Frontier Airsoft is on my list as well, though it’s a bit further out (I’m based in Greater Manchester). Don’t worry about going solo, airsoft is well known for being a welcoming hobby for newbies. All you need to do is ask someone about their guns or gear and you’ve got a “friend for life.” See you around!
-
Hey @Kev, if you want to find out sites near you, feel free to give PlayAirsoft a try. In case you find a site that isn’t on the website, you can add your suggestion through a submission form. Enjoy your comeback!
-
Hey Dan, glad you’ve stuck around long enough to try doing this for real! If you’re looking for places to play, I’ll do a shameless plug and recommend playairsoft.uk, there’s plenty of places to play in South Wales! Enjoy your stay, and if you have any feedback about the PlayAirsoft website, here’s the thread with all the info.

Why yes the Police can be a bit clueless at times .
shadowfacex replied to Druid799's topic in General Discussion
Don’t mind him, like everyone who got “questioned” before the Nuremberg trials, he got his balls crushed so hard by the Soviets who were running the show, that by the time he got to the room, he was singing about everything they did during the war. Nevertheless, I agree with you all. “Just doing my job” is not enough. Not for the public service sector. These guys are employed for the benefit of the public, not the public servants themselves, however the reality these days is starkly different. -

That’s exactly how these gun owners in question responded. Also, I made a mistake, it was the Devon and Cornwall police. Check this out: -

Just to note here, that Border Force and police are just people ensuring the law gets implemented as per legislation. Some of the time they can be overzealous or overly concerned officers that have little idea of how to implement the shit that the Parliament is responsible for writing into law. There’s been several cases of police officers visiting lawful gun owners in Dorset to try and take those guns away from them on some flimsy basis, or issuing blank certificates to lure them into the trap of “fill it yourself”, definitely ATF-style. I have a problem with this woke government in particular; they basically try to expand a list of everyday items that can be considered as an “offensive weapon.” As we know per the very educational Bourne franchise, even a ballpoint pen can be a deadly weapon in the right hands, does that mean we should ban all ballpoint pens? There’s a great series of video by the BlackBeltBarrister on YT about Knife Law, I recommend this. He also did demonstrate the extent of applicability of the law in practical terms. -
Does anyone know any indoor sites in wolverhampton
shadowfacex replied to parramoom's topic in General Help
You’ve got two that I know of: Monica CQB The Department There might be more around that I didn’t get a chance to add you, so if you find one, let me know. You can find more sites on PlayAirsoft. -
I have the G&G SG553 since 2016 and I’d love for my mags to not have the coupling bits as it’s very very hard to use them with standard vests; they snag like hell and reloading take ages if that happens. Annoying. I also don’t like the mid-cap mags, as I generally don’t like rattling stuff in my gear (don’t we all). I tried searching for alternatives, but sadly there aren’t any. G&G produces only two types of mags for SG550-series: 30-rd low-cap and 280-rd mid-cap, using Sig designs. There’s still plenty of supply on the UK market, although mid-caps are harder to get. I’m really close to just cutting these coupling notches off and being done with the issue. MAG alternatives are hard to find but the design is still the same, only improved internals as far as I understand. I’d love for PTS to design a EPM-G for SIG. They already did that for AKs, AR-15s, recently G36, and possibly others.

I think the topic escalated quickly from “what do you guys think about this new game scenario” to a cynical demotivationfest. @Rogerborg let the guy have his dreams, you never know what could come out of it, maybe he is a brilliant geek who’s going to take airsoft industry by storm? I understand your point about shilling some off-shoot devices for no reason, however from what I gather that's not going to be the case. Coming back to scenarios, I agree with @Adolf Hamster, it’s nigh impossible to cater to absolutely every type of player. However, that’s where special events come to play. I’m not talking about your run-of-the-mill mil-sim (excuse the pun) or reenactments, but rather something that is above your typical skirmish packaged in a full day campaign, yet not as hardcore to require a week of prep, BDUs, MREs, or accurate gear/RIFs to boot. While reviewing and adding various sites to PlayAirsoft, I remember there was one site that attempted to do that. They had three distinctive types of events, one for all, one for proper mil-sim, and one that was a cross between the two mentioned above. They specifically state what sort of expectations players attending a given event should have. I’ll try to dig up which one it was. Having clear expectations about how the games are run is half the decision points for a lot of players. That’s from the data I’ve gathered last year. However, I wonder if anyone has attempted to write their game scenarios for this weird type of airsoft-swashbuckler-not-hardcore-enough-for-milsim? I’d love to dig through that, and maybe publish some on PlayAirsoft for everyone to see. I understand most games are typical run-and-gun, but maybe if we put our cynicism and jadedness aside we could let at least some folks have fun LARPing hard (or hardly LARPing).

Thanks for your thoughts. It might be something left on the backburner, as despite its usefulness, I’m looking for patterns of actual usage of what3words. There’s a ton of seemingly cool things that barely anyone touches, because what we say, think, and do are three completely different things. Humans are weird like that.
-
Looks like majority of people here have never used it, so it doesn’t make sense to invest in this, as there are already links to Google and Apple maps with GPS coordinates. Thanks for your input folks!
-
This thing recently popped on my radar, as I’ve noticed a few airsoft organisers provide this on their websites. Do you guys care about it at all for finding your way to the sites?
-
It’s a shame, because the quality of FRV products is solid. I have their range belt and it’s one of the best pieces of my gear, second only to my Magpul MS3 Gen2 sling. I wanted a duffel bag from them, but reading this topic has made me look elsewhere. If anyone has any recommendation for a similar quality gear made in the UK, please do let us know here. I do hope the owner of the biz gets a grip on reality and maybe invests in some business management courses or gets external help quickly. Otherwise I don’t see much future in the way things are run there right now.

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
shadowfacex replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
Another month, another bunch of updates to PlayAirsoft, alongside new additions to the site’s database. This time, I have added direct links to Google Maps and Apple Maps for your convenience. Should save you time looking up directions to sites manually! -
@Speedbird_666 @PopRocket123 Anyone but Ares or VFC. Those two can go to hell at this point. I’d love a bit more reliability at a slightly higher price than a shit halo model that won’t get ever repeated and will go down in history as one of NegativeAirsoft’s “shit trophies” 😅
-
Hey @Junko, I’m a fellow Cheshire man myself. If you’re looking for sites to play at, jump on playairsoft.uk, there’s a few around North West. I’ve recently visited West Midlands and Yorkshire for my airsoft fix, as I’m touring the north of England to have a broader view of what’s available. Welcome to the forum, and enjoy your stay! EDIT: Looks like @EDcase beat me to it! 😅

@concretesnail Thanks, I’ll have a look at alternative PTT without an adapter, but it may be hard since a single-point plug accessories for Motorola are hard to come by.
-
@concretesnail I run a Earmor adapter from headset to Z-TAC PTT, which plugs directly to the radio. If i use any other headset (like another from Z-TAC) the receiving volume is fine. Just to note, it's not a technical fault with the M32 headset, because I have two of them and tried swapping elements on both back and forth to no avail. They work exactly the same way.
