Have you thought about running a suppressor and running the inner barrel through the suppressor?

Active Hearing Protection Compatible with Radio?
DopeYourScope replied to Lollingsgrad's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Great write up mate might help some people out in the future doing a similar job. -
I thought that it had to be MWS specific however someone else like @Wo1f May be able to answer

I use a cheapy M4 shape speed loader with the flip round adaptor I firmed it up with a bit of duct tape as I saw it bulging when pushing BBs in. If not try eagle 6 they seem to be a good supplier for TM stuff

Would never look back to any AEG especially for milsims; I skirmish, play CQB and milsim with my MWS and never feel outgunned. As Wolf said the milsim environment is the best place for the MWS, and in reference to Ross I currently carry 3+1 mags but will be getting another 3 soon. I think with 7 mags (which is 245rds) all with the green gas mod if I knew I would be out all day without an RTB then I would carry a 500rd speedloader and do a single refill of all the mags. To date on a milsim I haven't run out of ammo on an outing and I've got myself into some pretty hairy contacts 😂. They're not lightweight mags but I don't find the weight to be an issue, if you don't run training plates in your vest then you're effectively running the same weight as someone who does with a lighter rifle as the MWS is lighter than the NGRS counterpart. And if you're at a milsim firing full auto and you haven't got a support weapon you've brought the wrong gun, especially if you consider firing full auto with a GBBR, my rifle has only been on full auto to check the fire rate and to show people it can actually fire full auto 😂. I cannot think of one Milsim I've heard of which does not give you the opportunity for a bit of rest and rearm a couple of times during the day, yes you may have to put a couple of cans of gas in your day bag but you'd have a similar situation with batteries and not knowing if they're charged unless you carry a voltage tester *another thing to forget/lose/take up space* and very few milsims are genuinely hard routine in which you have to carry all your kit on your back most are a little easier allowing you to keep kit at your FOB and return for rearm and a cuppa/food.

Love mine for Milsims awesome bit of kit and never have to worry about ammo or magazine limits. All I’d say is if you know you’re going to be out for multiple engagements without going back to FOB then carry a can of gas and a speed loader of BBs. However I’ve never ran out of ammo on a milsim mission with 4 mags and that includes being out for 3 hours through multiple engagements, just remember when you start shooting you’ve lost the element of surprise.

I had the exact same issue yesterday a mag of mine dropped out and only when we gave up looking my mate saw the magpul on the floor. I’ve ordered TMC pouch inserts but they haven’t turned up yet.

Active Hearing Protection Compatible with Radio?
DopeYourScope replied to Lollingsgrad's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
If I remember correctly my Racals (modified) were £50 from JCI and I got the surefires through my local gun shop for £10 as they had a sale on. The other bits I already had from using fake comtacs. -

In total I’ve spent under £60, that includes paying for JCI to modify my Racals so if you DIY’d it you’re looking a lot cheaper. -

Oh I see, I’ll ask the lads if they’ve heard any through mine I can see their design would lead to that with a lot of back ground noise. -

Really? What issues did you have? Mine have been used a lot and are absolutely fine no ones complained that they can’t hear what’s being said etc. 5 I believe. If I remember correct the lemo socket was quite expensive, if you already have a PTT for an over ear then you can get JCI to modify the Racals to use that PTT. -

Yes, so the Racals don’t have a physical boom or throat mic they use a microphone within each ear piece that picks up your voice really well even at a whisper as well as the background noise for amplification and hearing protection. They’re by far the cheapest real steel headset you can buy but that’s down to the connectivity issue regarding the fact no one currently sells a lemo PTT or a EZPRR rep with a lemo connector (someone is working on one not sure if it has a lemo connection). Only thing i find is sometimes when the wind catches the microphones just right it causes them to cut out as it deems it too loud however this is a rare occasion only on the windiest day’s. -
Active Hearing Protection Compatible with Radio?

*excuse the state of my ear plugs* The racal frontier goes into the back of the EP4 which makes it like a headphone ear tip. The headset goes down to the amplifier box. From the amp would normally go to a PRR radio via a lemo connector however I’ve had mine wired to a standard NATO plug which I use with a Ztactical u94 PTT with a k1 connector for kenwood/baofengs (I use baofeng UV82). -

I discussed it with Jon (JCI) and he advised that if I got him to rewire the headset I would be able to use other headsets with the same PTT whereas I would be limited if I kept them Lemo wired. -

For those considering Racal Frontiers, I use mine with Surefire EP.4s they stick out from your ear slightly however when the noise cancelling kicks in you know you’re safe had mk5s go off at my feet whilst crouched with no issues. They comfortable enough to wear all day long but make sure you get the correct size buds. To answer the question yes they can be used with ‘normal’ ear phone tips however you will have less protection as they don’t fully “plug” your ear canal and they may not hold them self in correctly. I got my Racals from JCI comms with a standard NATO plug so I could use a standard PTT and I will be buying a set of comtacs for use with a helmet soon. -
Probably seen yourself about the place 👍🏻 I know about 8 guys who would be very interested to get the down low, even so mate any help we may be able to provide I’m sure we can rustle something together.

Awesome to hear, local lad myself (maidstone) and me and the lads are always looking for new sites to try. If you need a hand with anything give us a shout.
-
Please do especially referencing customs charges etc.
-
I sprayed my mags with a bit of silicone so that if you can slide them off to fill gas however when you pull them they grip the mag like a hero, obviously when you pull the loop it squeezes the mag whereas when you slide them from the mag they have some movement
-
Im in exactly the same position, got 3 mag assists sitting in my case waiting 😂 just need the mags to put them on.
-
Marui do batch manufacturing unfortunately we seem to be waiting for them to start the next batch, I’ve got my name to 3 when my local retailer gets word of availability. The popularity of the MWS has been its own downfall in this regard.
