I know there have been improvements to the later Marui pistols, but are there any of the older guns that are still worth buying? I have been thinking about picking up a Sig, but I imagine most people would advise me to buy an FNX45, Glock Gen 4, PX4, HK USP, Springfield XDM etc. instead. Problem is I don't like the appearance of some of these brands. I like the look of the old Sig.

Thanks for the reply. What you say makes sense. And thanks to you too, Lozart.

If I wanted to give an airsoft pistol to one of my children - all of whom are middle aged adults by the way - none of whom have ever skirmished, would this be completely legal? I emphasise this would be a gift and not a sale. In the unlikely event that the gun eventually ended up in the hands of somebody unkown to me, who used it irresponsibly eg. showed it in public, would I as the original owner be liable?

Chinese of course, but their rifles are said to be pretty good. They are said to be TM clones but with a different bearing - triangular rather than circular. There are several different models, all competitively priced, and they appear to come with trades. I have heard that some of their internal parts are made of steel. Can anyone comment on the quality/value of these pistols?. Where would you place them on a scale with WE at the top and Raven at the bottom?

Silicone oil for O rings and plastic on plastic or plastic on metal slides and frames. Teflon grease or oil for metal on metal. I use Superlube Synthetic with PTFE to grease slide and rails. If it migrates it will not damage or weaken plastic parts. Dry cloth or cotton buds for muck, but when the gun gets very dirty you can use Isopropyl 99% alcohol, which shifts grease and crud effectively and evaporates completely leaving no residue or smell. Isopropyl alcohol is also the go to for inner barrels. It's the only thing you should put down an inner barrel, apart from a dry piece of cloth or tissue to pull out the dirt.

Surprise to me. I didn't know KJ Works did an M9 with a polymer slide.

Are those rubber prop guns lightweight or do they have a bit of heft?

Very stylish. Is that the Proforce one licensed by Sig.

Marui plastic externals vary from gun to gun. Some look more plasticky than others, but on the best the finish is outstanding. And you don't need to worry about paint flaking off like it does on most metal pistols. Of course cnc aluminium externals are a different thing from the painted pot metal mass produced guns, but you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the reply. Looks great.

I am interested in gold outer barrels for pistols, but I have heard the finish on them is more fragile than it is with other colours. I don't know if it makes any difference whether the barrel has been or anodised. But I've heard that even the gold barrel on the very expensive Detonator kit for the HK45 wears off quickly. Is this true? Does anybody have any experience of Airsoft Masterpiece gold outer barrels for hi capas?

I've read that custom metal outer barrel and slide for TM pistols should come from the same manufacturer, or they may not work well together. This makes sense with tilting barrels. However many hi capa metal outer barrels are fixed. Since they don't move, does this mean they can more easily be matched with custom slides from other makers.

Well I finally decided to get one and find out for myself. And I am very glad I did. Yes there is very little rattle on the 4.3 compared to the 5.1. The gun is also much better balanced. In fact I think it is the best of the hi capa variants.

I've discovered that the latest TM Glocks have two springs in the base of the hammer unit instead of one. And they can be bugger to reassemble.

Where is all the weight on the TM Beretta PX4?
emilianoksa replied to emilianoksa's topic in Gas Guns
That is true of all TM pistols. But the PX4 is still considerably heavier than a TM Glock, Sig, HK or M&P. -
Thanks for the reply. No. I've tried that as well.

I have worked on several airsoft Glocks, both TM and WE and have never had a problem replacing the hammer unit back into the frame. For some reason the TM Glock 19 has presented me with no end of difficulty. Sometimes the hammer unit goes in, but most of the time it takes ages and only goes in part of the way before catching on something. If I concentrate on getting the rear of the unit to fit by pressing down on it, the front then refuses to go down, however much I rock it backwards and forwards, or up and down to find the sweet spot. It shouldn't be this difficult. I thought it might be the Guarder frame I bought for it, so switched back to the factory one, but it didn't make any difference. What am I doing wrong. Is there a particular angle at which the unit should be inserted?

Is it true that due to its shorter length, the 4.3 is a little more robust than the 5.1, that the 4.3 slide lasts a bit longer and there is a little less wobble on the frame? Or is that just wishful thinking? I have been told that Guarder cast hi capa frames are best avoided due to poor tolerances and fitting problems. But there is such a shortage of 4.3 from other manufacturers, that Guarder is often the only option. Are they worth a gamble?

Where is all the weight on the TM Beretta PX4?

Thanks pal. -
The hi capa is heavy because of the metal frame, the 1911 because of the metal grip inserts, and the M9A1 because of the grip inserts and a metal weight on the inner barrel. What accounts for the weight of the PX4? It is one of Marui's heaviest pistols.

Many thanks Tommi.?

Quick enquiry for which help would be appreciated Is there a UK skirmish site for which the initials are FGL?

I was hoping it might be something like that. Thanks for the reply.

There are differences between the hammer units and their internals on these later Marui Glocks and the earlier G17/22/34. On the later guns there is what appears to be an extra spring. It looks like it needs to be tucked in somewhere, but the problem is that it sticks out horizontally from the rear, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere for it to go. I am not confusing this with the spring on the earlier hammer unit, which is also present on the Gen 4 and is bent back and held in a slot of one of the units components. The bottom of this page shows the hammer unit with the spring sticking out. When I removed both my G17 Gen 4 and G19 hammer chassis from their frames they both showed one side of a spring sticking out, just like in the picture below. https://boomarms.com/products/guarder-frame-spring-set-for-marui-g17-gen4-g19-gen4-gbb-series Perhaps somebody could kindly explain to me why this is the case. Why does one side of the spring stick out? I haven't tinkered with the hammer unit at all, and yet the spring is out on both my Glocks.
