  1. Ahoy and welcome. Your barrel isn't seating as far into the hop unit as with the stock rubber. This sometimes happens with Maple Leafs as well. You can try another rubber; lube and push the barrel in hard until the clip retains; enlarge the slots in the barrel with a file or Dremel until the clip engages; forget about the clip and tape the barrel in place. Also, welcome to airsoft "upgrades".
  2. Yup, I worked for some cheery rogues who liked to change the company name(s) and liquidate, then immediately create a new company with the old name. They didn't feel any need to mention it to staff or creditors until a claim for non-payment reached a court and got laughed off. They got away with doing this multiple times, for years, until they ran out of potential creditors. Anyway, this is why I generally hold off on signing "Save this thing you've never heard of" petitions until a bit more of the story comes out.
  3. Based on a $645 million budget.
  4. Needs more bayonet, otherwise...
  5. If one person needs to wear it due to the environment likely to be experienced on site, why doesn't everyone? 🤔 Maybe you just didn't hear them? It's a pretty low risk, but it's both a cumulative one, and acute if something big goes off right by your ear. Purely personally anecdotally, I have mild tinnitus that's probably from biking - even though I always wear moulded earplugs - but which I didn't notice until I started earsofting, so, eh. Could be either, a bit of both, or something else that I'm not even aware of. I'm not going to get on a high horse about it, I don't wear ear protection while airsofting, but I would say that big bangs, like wankerguns, 40-Mikes and 10 billion lumen lights, are a lot more fun for the pitcher than the receiver.
  6. Ahoy and welcome. I think you'll fit in well here. Sounds like some weird nerd stuff. Maaaaaaybe. The definition of a RIF is that it has an appearance that is so realistic as to make it indistinguishable, for all practical purposes, from: (a) a firearm of an actual make or model of modern firearm (whether existing or discontinued); or (b) something falling within a description which could be used for identifying, by reference to their appearance, the firearms falling within a category of actual modern firearms which, even though they include firearms of different makes or models (whether existing or discontinued) or both, all have the same or a similar appearance. What makes and models of actual ray guns currently exist, or are discontinued? 🤔
  7. However, I thought paintball had made this argument years ago, demonstrating that woodland evolved with deer and boar stomping around, and we're actually emulating that by playing hide-and-seek.
  8. I was going to say "But it comes with extra mags"... then I realised that it comes with 3 as standard. I'm guessing he's another "lol make me an offer then that's how this game is played lmao" geezer.
  9. OK, but how does it perform? Does the adjustable hop actually hop? Is it consistent? What are the energy levels like with properly hopped BBs?
  10. Ahoy and welcome. Find a site, rent, and see how you get on. Bear in mind that rental costs cover a gun and support for it, face protection, and BBs that you'd otherwise have to buy anyway, so it's not as expensive as it might look. Don't spunk hundreds on a Buyer's Regret Starter Pack when you come home buzzing with adrenaline! Decent footwear is the only thing you'll really need. The other thing you might want to buy yourself is your own eye and face protection, although more sites are renting decent paintball style full face masks now anyway. And don't worry about going on your own, airsofters tend to be a friendly and helpful bunch and it's really easy to get talking to people. Just ask someone about their gun(s) and you won't be able to get them to shut up.
  11. Could be, if it was even the BBs at all. Given the lack of any nozzle or tappet damage, and running at quite a snappy ROF, I'd assume AOE or premature engagement and my luck running out. It's just with two going in the same way, on the same day, after a switch to Rebels, with one definitely jammed in the hop, and seeing two other players experiencing barrel jams that day (no idea if they were the site Rebels though), it's got me wondering. Thanks for the info though, I won't be put off the brand, I'll just bin the rest of this bottle on the slight chance that there are some rogues in there.
  12. Anecdote, not evidence, but I switched to a bottle of "Rebel" brand 0.28g BBs (BZ Tactical) last game day, and subsequently experienced... this... To snap one piston, Mister Borg, may be regarded as misfortune. To snap two looks like shenanigans. On disassembly, one barrel definitely had a BB stuck in the hop and both of them had 2 BBs roll out. Of course this could just be an AOE problem, and those are well used cheap JG / CSI plastic pistons being smashed by Big Dragon M140s on 11.1V, and it might very well be entirely unrelated to the BBs, but I'll be binning the Rebels and switching to something else out of an abundance of caution. Aside, this is why I prefer plastic pistons, because they're the cheapest part to replace, and everything else is intact in both boxes. Sadly, it looks like all aftermarket pistons are steel racked now, so I'll be reluctantly "upgrading".
  13. Yup, I've bought a couple, they're daftly cheap if you can wait a week or so.
  14. I guess the question is: why? Any piece of plastic will offer about as much effective protection, so the only reason to spend more than the bare minimum is to get a very specific look. That's a generic FAST helmet and cover, and while OneTigris is a decent brand, I'd rather spend the difference elsewhere (e.g. on the anti-fog blower that you might need if you're running a lid).
  15. Treating perfectly normal boyish hobbies as the pretext for a Kafkaesque "disprove our secret evidence" process seems like a pretty effective way to radicalise someone.
  16. What is he flogging? "Air soft rifle" isn't much help. Red sticker, windowed magazine, I'm guessing some sort of SRC/"Bulldog" or NURPOL vendor trash.
  17. Must be SAS (Special Airsoft Services) then, if you're not allowed to tell us. 🙄 Please understand that we get posts like this regularly, and they generally turn out to be from dreamers and/or students. We generally just have a laugh with them, until evidence of ability to deliver is produced.
  18. Ahoy and welcome. The EP-01 will be fine, they're not going to break from airsoft energy impacts, although I'd agree that pretty much anything from the Bollé range can be trusted. You may have issues with fogging though, it's the bane of many an airsofter. I like dual-pane lenses like the Pyramex I-Force. You'll have to find out for yourself if you're a fogging victim. If you are, having a pair of mesh goggles in your bag can save your day. Lower face, a mix of mesh and fabric gives you a good balance of protection and cheek-weldability. The original brand of these is OneTigris, but there are cheaper equivalents now.
  19. Hmm, with something like 350,000 made in total, I wonder what the definition of "holds" is, and what happened to the rest. Ah! I didn't imagine the imminent replacement of the L85, it's just that the "imminency" has been kicked down the road again.
  20. Knife kills for the rest of the day?
  21. That's what I was wondering, as it sounds like the real goal is to have people picking their shots. I mean, if you welcome the glorious HPA master race, why not dirty AEG peasants? Any mid-cap can be loaded with 30 rounds, it comes down to whether you trust the players to stick to the spirit of it.
  22. Yup, sounds fun, good luck with it. It seems that your rules could be boiled down to: No AEGs of any sort. Near-real capacity magazines, and none over 50 rounds.
