  1. Cheap and newer technology, that's where I'd be going now.
  2. Oh, that does seem consistent. We've long known about Wooley.
  3. Best of luck, and please do let us know, I'm in the market for some 11.1Vs at the moment.
  4. Is it a secret law? 6 months comes from the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Section 19, (14) (and 24 (10)). If you're thinking of section 9 and "durability", it does not specify a duration. You are of course free to take the seller to court and claim that the goods should have lasted longer, but that's up to you to argue, on a case-by-case basis. So: Which law says 12 months? Which Act? Which section? What case law?
  5. Love the concept, installed some apps, have never, ever used it and likely never, ever will.
  6. Satisfaction denied due to an overly-vigorous blow-job. Ironically, there was too much danger from drooping wood.
  7. Wow. So just "Get rekt, scrub"? Despite them handling the transaction, and the seller believing that they've been paid? I really hope that PayPal sort you out, and I'd emphasise keeping it super simple and saying "Didn't get what I paid for, money back, now" rather than getting caught up in a discussion of all the lies that have been told downstream.
  8. Hmm. There are no dimensions specified, so I wouldn't bet on them fitting in a buffer tube. I've yet to find a 3 cell / 11.1V pack that will. Other that that, they don't seem completely unreasonable. The mass, capacity and C rating are all plausible, and the price is fair enough, if they actually meet those specs. I'm tempted to buy some for a G36C and solid-stock M4. But inside a buffer tube? Nah, I doubt it.
  9. Reporting for duty. And yup to all of the above. Pad the bony bits. Stay alive until Aliens motion trackers go retail. I prefer the intensity and up-close-and-personalnessness of CQB, but woodland makes for an interesting (and literal) change of pace. It's all good, and an excuse to blow the kids' inheritance on different costumes and toys that you don't really need.
  10. Y U NO fly it urself? Ba-dum tsss. Wow, that's a new one, and very concerning. Truth is whatever the most powerful party asserts that it is. Given that eBay and PayPal have recently divorced, I hope that they're still on speaking terms. Worst case though you should get a refund from PayPal, or ultimately whatever you used to pay them. This also concerns me, in terms of how you can persuade a gang of thugs not to just rob you blind a second time. (Existential angst brought on by a brutal mugging from HMRC this week)
  11. Newest. Technically. Best of luck, but these sites get pre-announced about as often as design or engineering students pre-announce their pre-intention to pre-blow our pre-minds with some pre-invention.
  12. I've seen a few say it, along with some Reddit expert types. Even Luke at Negative has circled around it. And yes, it's phenomenally clowny. Source voltage, sure. Source amps, no, no, no. Literally the only reason I can imagine to recommend this is try and to stop the motor spinning as fast as it's able, which just means that they're concerned that the motor will shred the gears or the piston running at full whizz. So, cook the battery instead, genius level teching.
  13. So at £210 and in stock new, do we make that £140 for the used RIF and hi-cap and.... £30 each for the "brand new" (used) mid-caps?
  14. And retailer and manufacturers specifying a maximum C rating (but not amps!), which is bonkers and seems to have no purpose other than to allow teeth sucking and "Ooh, that's user abuse, that is, didn't you read the small print?"
  15. That's tight for two. JG G36C is just about do-able though, if you can find them in stock. I'm very happy with mine, I bought it as a reliable back-up and have ended up using it more often than most of my "upgraded" guns. Decent hop unit, trigger has the usual V3 sloppiness (and can be prone to locking up, so don't spam it), barrel and motor are OK-ish. Nothing that can't be sorted later, and they're fine out of the box. You'll want at least lipo batteries, or li-ion. For two of you, I'd recommend either 3 or 4 lipo batteries, 1400mAh or above, bearing in mind that there's not a huge amount of battery space in the G36C, so you'll want to check the dimensions. I'd recommend 3 or 4 smaller ones versus 2 bigger ones just to have a spare to hand if one craps out. Chargers, SkyRC S65 is our current go-to. I would strongly advise against trying to cheap out on the charger, I wasted a lot more money than I "saved" that way. Anything without a display is likely to be junk, hazardous to your batteries and possibly to your home insurance. Nothing Nuprol, ever. Mags, the JG G36C comes with a usable hi-cap and a couple more will do you. I didn't have much luck getting mid-caps to feed in mine, but switched to using STANAG mags via a magwell adaptor anyway. Some folk hate hi-caps, I'm OK with them versus having to buy and carry half a dozen (or more) mid-caps around.
  16. 6 months is indeed the magic number. Under that, any problem is assumed to be a manufacturing defect. Over it, the onus shifts to the purchaser to show that to be the case. Your statutory right to durability isn't really worth that much in practice as the reality is that they have your money and nobody is going to help you[*] get it back unless you want to to go down the small claims route. Disappointing that a G&G has done this, but not at all surprising that an airsoft retailer has told you to do one. Sadly, as it's over 6 months, I'd take it on the chin and sort it myself. [*] However, if you want to get involved in a dick measuring contest, there's nothing stopping you asking your payment processor to initiate a chargeback. The worst they can say is no.
  17. Mmm, that sounds borderline, again dependant on whether it's a happening after a lonnnng burst, or whether it's creeping steadily up even if you're doing short-controlled. Airsoft motors do heat up, even with no load on them (takes yours out and see), but to be honest it's not something I've ever had a problem with, either with a stock motor or the joke-brand aftermarkets that I've used - Tornado and Big Dragon. Sure, I can feel some heat after mag dumping, but that's as expected. From looking at the spec, PatrolBase recommend 7.4V, but then they also quote a low looking 0.62J. Bespoke also reckon 0.58-0.83J, which implies a weak spring, so the motor shouldn't have to work that hard. Oh, "ARES Gear Sensor can sense when the gear finishes its cycle and stops it at the best position. This will make sure that the piston stays in the front position". I wonder if that implies an active braking system, which would dump more stress and heat into the motor. Either way, I think I might agree with the default Reddit solution here and take a look at the shimming before hurling a different motor at it. It's a V2 box with as quick-change spring so there shouldn't be any drama involved. You can do a ballpark test from outside the gearbox by seeing if there's any play in the gear shafts. Get the spring out first, then check that there's a tiny bit of side-to-side movement in each gear shaft, on each side. We're talking a fraction of a mm. If they're either sloppy, or rock solid with no movement at all, I'd get it apart and check the shimming. Wait... is Ares the manufacturer that uses springs instead of shims?
  18. Blowbacks are indeed great fun, and plenty of folk enjoy collecting airsoft, uh, weapons for target shooting, for the technology, or just as replicas. I say this to distinguish the tools from the experience of skirmishing with them, which not everybody actually enjoys when they're getting slapped in the face by a stranger's balls. I'd encourage you to get along to a site and find out. The actual play experience is much the same whether it's with a ratty rental or a GHK SIG SG 553 GBBR.
  19. Ahoy and welcome. Dive in, it's great fun, although it will eat every penny of your disposable income (plus all you can borrow). It's absolutely fine to book a rental package and rock up solo to any site - it's a really welcoming hobby, and people are generally very happy to show you the ropes. All you need is to dress for the terrain (footwear) and weather (waterproofs/layers if you're outdoors). You don't need any of your own gear, camo, or even eyepro, although your own eye/face protection might be preferable to a rental mesh mask. Do you have a site in mind to try?
  20. Reddit answer: you need to reshim your gearbox or your gun will explode and you'll be left with hooks for hands. Actual answer: INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR MEANINGFUL ANALYSIS. How hot are we talking? Cosy covfefe mug, radiator scald, or gom jabbar test? What battery are you using? How many rounds are we talking about over how long a period of time?
  21. That's a great job. I was thinking more a couple of bare wires loosely wrapped in electrical tape.
  22. Spot 1. Drill bit straight up the feed tube. Left is raw dogging it from the factory, right is the ordered perfection that I imagine I've created. That said, Luke at Negative has just advocated smoothing away spot #2 to help with feed issues, and I can see the point of that as well. I can only speak to what I've tried though, and a gentle penetration straight up the feed tube seems to have helped me with problematic feeding.
