  1. Just use some electricians tape. Not too tight as to press the switch, but tight enough that the pad won't move. Never had any issues after many skirmishes
  2. Maybe it's time for another Wikipedia adventure. Start on barrack Obama's page and see how many clicks it takes to get to Apple pie, and see what you find along the way!
  3. No! I will not have anything derogatory said about Wikipedia, it is a seriously robust scientific repository of information crucial to the smooth operation of every day life. If it were bad, why would 99% of students use it to find material to reference in their dissertations?
  4. When I'm keeping my weight down, I lose my Osprey pc and use just the Osprey battle belt (both army surplus). Belt has pistol holster, 2 pistol mags, BFG in a pouch with a reel lanyard to hold the pin, and a dump pouch. Any m4 mags go in pockets
  5. Not quite as easy to do that with a GHK, as all the valves are in the top of the mag (so they dint get full of mud and sticks and worms when you're rolling around like a pro), you could try tapping the caps in the bottom of the mag but it would be a recipe for disaster I think. At least that's the reasoning I make based on the assumption that the normal way to do it is replace the inlet valve with a Jack for your air line, and set your regulator to a similar pressure to green gas to avoid having to go to town on every seal and valve to keep it tight
  6. Yes. This. My we pistol is built like a tank, but were yet to see how my brothers scar handles a few skirmishes.
  7. I think he meant no, it's not a good idea. Manufacturers might make crap AEGs but awesome GBBRs. Plus GHK don't make any AEGs but make fantastic GBBRs. If you already have an AEG Go for the gbb. If not, I think it's always worth having an AEG as a backup, as they seem to me to be a little more reliable
  8. I love GBB, and prefer it over AEG. The main downside is the limited ammo, so you can't switch to full auto and hose down an area when a target is at the limit of your range. Other than that, they're just bloody good fun
  9. It comes down to the one in a million chance of this high energy projectile hitting somewhere fragile. Like your face. It might be an accident, it if someone takes a direct hit to the face at less than 10m, will it break their eye pro? Could it bust a nose open? Could someone be about to hose them down with bbs as their eye pro falls to pieces? In a perfect world, an MED and call out works a treat. But the danger with these (in the eyes of an insurer at least, I've never seen or been hit by one) is the same reason people aren't allowed to lob reusable pyro around. Yes, people signed a waiver to be shot at and have mk5s lobbed at them, but nobody signs a waiver to allow high energy projectiles like a BFG or a TAG grenade. With a proper investigation into how much damage one of these could do in a worst-case scenario (assuming that they are actually safe to fire at someone at close range), you could probably convince most insurers that they are safe and justified to use.
  10. I think it may have something to do with someone in an office being concerned that one of these pyros could go off when they hit someone in the face. To be honest, I'm surprised any site can get these covered for use in the UK. Which is a shame because the idea of using a grenade launcher in airsoft to actually launch pyro is a cool idea
  11. The m4 has a recoil buffer, so the recoil is slower. The g5 has a bit of rubber to send the bolt back. I can't speak for the GHK m4, but comparing my g5 to my mates 416 (not exactly the same, I know) makes my g5 look like a hammer and his look like a pneumatic ram. Sure one *might be a bit better for pushing something, but there's nothing to go wrong with a hammer. The g5 is just so much simpler mechanically, which makes it a perfect first GBBR in my book
  12. I dunno then. Are your feed lips cracked or splayed? They might be a touch too wide
  13. I think the right feed lip is actually a slightly different shape. Possibly on the inside of the lip
  14. Sorted. You were right. But the follower is made of two parts. These were the wrong way round I'm my mag. I had to push out the tiny pin and pit the swively follower back together the right way Thanks for the help man Edit If you're having trouble. Which side of the magazine is the detent on? All my magazines now hold the first loaded BB on the right hand side of the magazine (towards the cocking handle)
  15. I'm quite sure it's the follower. The original magazine and one of the new ones have the detent in the follower on the same side, one of the feed lips has a little bump which stops the last BB being pushed forwards by the curve of the follower. The problem magazine has the detent on the other side of the mag, and no bump, so the last BB (or the first you push in) is squeezed forwards by the follower and falls out of the feed lips. I'll have a go at opening mine and see if it is as I think Thanks for the help dude
  16. Hey folks Bought a couple of spare magazines for a well mb01 from ASPUK. One works fine, the other seems to have had the follower installed the wrong way round, so the last BB rarely feeds properly and usually jams up between the cylinder head and the back of the hop chamber, and its a ball ache to get out Before I go asking ASPUK like the Springer noob that I am. Is there a guide for disassembling a well l96 magazine? All I need to do is spin the follower round and it seems a bit petty to be sending a whole mag back for what could be 60 seconds work Thanks fellas

    FAQs

Quick question to the afuk community that patrol this particular thread for the benefit of the newer airsofters who ask questions here: Should we make a pinned FAQ topic for the most commonly asked questions? I ask since we seem to be asked the same half a dozen questions or so over and over I propose we make the following FAQs: Can I paint an IF a realistic colour without UKARA? Can I give an RIF/IF to a friend/family member who doesn't have a defencek? Do I need UKARA to purchase an RIF? Can I travel by air with IFs/RIFsk? Can I send RIFs/IFs in the post? Of course, as a community, any other suggestions are more than welcome. I only ask because at the time op posting this, there are four seperate posts asking about painting two tone guns or otherwise converting an IF on the first page alone I think that the given answers to the questions should be produced by a few of us and there should be a general consensus that the answer captures both the letter of the law, and the spirit of the law, and clearly defines the two Any thoughts? additions?
  18. Been asked dozens of times You technically need a defence (such as UKARA) to paint an IF a realistic colour (or remove the two to be paint) Nobody will ever ask to see your UKARA or site membership at a skirmish because you have an IF or RIF If by a one in a million chance you do get asked questions, you can demonstrate your defence by showing that you used the RIF for airsoft. If you want to keep to the letter of the law, wait for your UKARA. If you just want to keep within the spirit of the law, just don't use the RIF for any crime (especially violent crime) and make sure it is kept in a suitable case or bag when you aren't using it so no member of the puvlic/neighbour will have cause for alarm
  19. Two words GHK g5 It works when it's hot, it works in th cold. It's easy to strip and maintain and even though it's plastic, its better than a cheap metal gun any day. GHK use a really good polymer.
  20. Only because of the occasional person who misses it and males a serious reply
  21. I thought the uar had a pretty standard v3 box, not 100% though. I was thinking of buying this as my first gun, but went for an ICS instead certainly a gun you don't see often, I think I've seen one in the whole year I've been part of the sport
  22. On a serious note, someone at the hive yesterday was firing bbs over the 2m high Hessian walls under-hopped so they dropped down on people using the common corners as cover. Luckily, it's hard to aim at someone when you're firing like a mortar and can't see who you're shooting at
  23. Hey, I just remembered. Did anyone see the advert for the airsoft GI Dartles? They were golf ball shaped bbs which gave awesome range. I've thought about mixing a few weights of them as well, I heard from someone on the jbbg reviews that they increase your range by 40%, so I can hit people at 700m, I might be able to hit people in the next airsoft field if the wind is calm
  24. I was using pre owned bbs the other day and I was an airsoft killing machine. Every time I shot at someone they got hit. I decided to test it on someone hiding in a thick Bush 500m away and the second BB got him right in the head (i know because I saw it through my 20x ballistic scope) You have a really good mix of heavyweight sniper ammo for long distance targets and lightweight rockets for moving targets. If real life machine guns fire combat mixes of different ammo, why shouldn't we?
  25. Ah, I see. They must have ground off the old one and fixed the new one down onto the upper. If that's the case, you want the opposite adaptor to what most peeps get for this gun, or another sight since you own just about the only one available that doesn't fit a 20mm rail
