1) nothing, people who try to break laws will always find a way 2) they are, but people take them off 3) maybe they tried. But 12 year old boys arent usually used to being shot. He probably would have died of shock even if the bullet wound wasnt fatal (and details of the shooting arent released yet)

You are perfectly correct, but when selling an RIF (imagine he bought the gun from a website, with no face to face sales) the first thing the retailer asks for is a UKARA number, which prevents a minor making the purchase straight away. While it is the VCRA which makes the restrictions, its the near-universal adoption of UKARA within UK retailers which stops every 12 year old into guns getting online and buying a gun.
-
I see where youre coming from, but here in the UK, UKARA is the most popular way of proving a defence, made specifically to work with the VCRA. Ukara makes a good start of keeping RIFs out of the hands of minors, and people with ukara have had two months to learn to respect gun safety and the importance of treating an RIF like a real gun. Like i said earlier, its not perfect, but its a giid step in the right direction. And maybe a similar system in the US would have prevented this kid being shot. That and mandatory education before you can buy one. Perhaps making retailers responsible for informing buyers of the legal requirements and what can happen (ie. Kid gets shot dead) if you dont use it safely.

If he hadnt had a pistol, he wouldnt have been shot. Evidently he didnt deserve one because he had no respect for gun safety. UKARA isnt perfect, but its better than having nothing to protect people like this kid

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-30172433 This is why we need UKARA. If anything, the VCRA is a little weak. I know this is in America, but i have a sneaking suspicion that there are people like this in our country

Im afraid it seems that only dog owners realise that a dog is as much a member of the family as a brother or sister. On a brighter note, this thread gives me an idea: attack dog day at my local airsoft field! Does anyone know any good brands of canine eye protection? Preferrably full face coz my daft little mutt always has his mouth open to cater for his ridiculously long tongue -

Thats no problem, you must have won the lottery to afford that... Or re-mortgage -
Basic airsoft loadout (for starters)?
TheGrover replied to Gargamel's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
You need GOOD boots, they need to keep your ankle from snapping if you step in a rabbit warren or fox hole, and keep water out. Good hiking boots should do but i couldnt fault my army surplus boots at all. Ammo may be an issue. Some people like to suppress enemies or spray-n-pray. If this is your styld then a couple of extra mags (and maybe a budget vest to put them in) may be helpful. Otherwise, i found that a cheap dot sight (25 quid i think) helped improve my marksmanship greatly. -
In my ICS i reused all the old screws except one, i guess tbe WE would do the same to make sure that screw threading was correct

To those people who have an ICS L85 and want to replace a twisted hop arm with a metal one, i recently found someone to make one for me. whilst i cant say that he will make any more, the forum thread in which i asked for the part contains 2D and 3D drawings of the hop arm, as well as the advice i was given about having one made. HERE is my thread on a Machining Enthusiast/Hobbyist forum attached to the first post are a few DWGs which a machinist can use to make the part. Ill post here when i fit the new hop arm to see how well it works

Has anyone tried the crosshairs? Basically a lower profile than the crossbows but otherwise identical
-
Id stick with an AEG for your first gun, GBBRs are expensive to run and there are generally more AEGs about, so theres more people to help if and when you have technical difficulties
-
Tried that, and the fogging is horrendous because my breath is held in the same compartment as my glasses, which cool quickly behind mesh. I like the ESS crossbow eyeshields, hopefully these will be suitable for my prescription

Last couple of times ive been theres been about 60 peeps, i wont be able to attend myself but i wouldnt worry about it being too quiet
-
I acutally find the afg quite comfortable, though i havent skirmished it yet, so ill probably move it about a bit at first to find the best spot for my arms. And beauty is in the eye... And i think it looks sexy on there maybe i am an irresponsible l85 owner, but at at least it doesnt have a bright blue polymer handguard any more

Hopefully Ed wont ban me for this blasphemy Here is my New ICS L85 New/changed parts from stock (no particular order): Madbull DD rail entry-level G&P 1x30 dot sight on no-brand 20mm riser on B&T dovetail to weaver rail adapter knock off magpull AFG (coz there were no real ones for sale that i could find) Swiss Arms sight protector Madbull blue rubber Element H nub (untested) and a bit of a plastic toothpick to lift the hop arm, so it doesnt send my BBs to god The camera quality doesn't do it justice, it looks much better than the picture makes out. Now to get a PEQ box so i can actually fit a battery in it and a few PTS mags and this will be my very own unique Tactical SA80 A2

Funnily enough, i am already in dialogue with Andy about finding a good solution, and i was amazed at the amount of detail that he went into when explaining my choices, and i can certainly see why so many people recommend his services. I also quite like those eye shields, i was originally worried that i wouldnt be able to find a low profile solution, but those seem very much my style. Thanks for the link, i feel much better informed to make a good decision now

I have a "severe" astigmatism" in my weaker eye, and the prescription carries two values, perhaps my cylindrical correction is just beyond what contacts can provide, i dont know the exact reason, but contacts arent quite good enough
-
Does anyone know if the ICS version accepts PTS EPMs? Im looking at swapping to mid caps and quite like their p-mag design.
-
Ive tried contacts, but due to my eyesight, contacts are unable to correct my vision properly, and i would be unable to drive, or pick out a camo-clad player further than 20m or so.
-
I got my first proper game with my ICS yesterday, and the gun performed over and above what i expected, although it is a very heavy gun and 6 hours of CBQ will really show the difference between this and a light carbine. 10/10 would reccomend, based on one use, but ICS: METAL HOP ARM PLEASE
-
ive tried contacts, but my eyes are +2.7 and +6.2, so i just cant get good vision

Depending on your battery voltage and c rating, and the overall electrical resistance of your gun, including the motor, wires and connections, the current that flows may exceed 20A. A lower power motor (therefore usually lower resistance) will draw a lower current, or a lower c rating of battery will be unable to supply a higher current
