  1. If you've ever seen a movie called The Objective (which is okay, not brilliant but worth a look if you can find the DVD for three quid in a supermarket or whatever), the characters are a CIA agent and a few special forces guys, any of the gear they are wearing would look pretty authentic for a mercenary loadout. Here's the trailer for that movie if you've not seen it, since they all appear in it you can get a good look at the kind of thing I mean:
  2. I'm tempted to put something on there like this: This gun are awesum, i killed three peepel with it when i robed a bank, but the poleece let me walk rite passed them with it becoze it was briyte oraynge, so they did not now it wus me wot dun them kilingz. thank yuo just beebee gunz,
  3. Hope there isn't a question about how you spell 'definitely' on that exam
  4. I don't think anyone needs to feel too guilt-stricken if they do post the odd mickey take review of course, since if any buyer just goes off one review, there's no denying that they are being a bit foolish (caveat emptor and all that bollox) but I'm sure we'd all agree that helping that geezer sell sh*t guns that will self destruct in a matter of weeks is a probably not a great service to mankind lol
  5. You won't get any flak from me about using a BB gun site. I know it's kind of trendy on here to slag them off, and not always without some justification, since a lot of their stuff is indeed crap, and I'm a bit dubious about them all simply having a tick box for the 'I am over 18' requirement, which I doubt prevents minors from buying stuff off there, but if you know what you are buying, they are often the cheapest to get stuff from, which is why I've bought stuff from them on many occasions. I've never actually bought anything off JBBG, but I've had of stuff from OnlyBBguns, BBGuns4Less and BBGuns365, and I've never had any reason to complain about any of their service. In fact, I've been highly impressed with it on more than one occasion. They've usually delivered stuff in 2-3 days, postage was often free, email contact was good, they even phoned me once to say something was not in stock, and as I was on the phone to them, the guy saw one was on a shelf in the shop, so he boxed that one up, and I had it the next day. Anyway, belated Welcome Aboard
  6. As far as being nose-heavy is concerned, the Galaxy G5 only weighs 1,800 grams, the battery and the gearbox weight being well back inside it, since the battery runs the full length of it. It is certainly a lot better balanced than my GBB MP5K as well as being under half the weight of that thing, which is indeed nose heavy if you hold it one handed with a 50 round mag in it. However, you don't worry about that when you are dual wielding it with a gas blowback pistol in the other hand, because you are too busy laughing and trying to look 'gangsta'. Incidentally, my GBB MP5K was a blue two tone when I bought it; can of black spray paint later:
  7. Just get the two tone and a can of matt black spray paint and Bob's Yer Uncle. A tin of flat black primer spray from a pound shop will do the job no problem.
  8. LMAO. In fairness to Well, they do actually make one or two okay guns, but yes, it is a good general rule to avoid them, which is I suppose fairly ironic given the brand name, since that is the last thing most of them will make you feel about where your money has gone.
  9. They may indeed largely be a bunch of illiterate kiddies buying stuff and posting their crimes against grammar in the review sections, but I still would not want to post a bullshit review which might make some poor kid spend his or her carefully saved up paper round money on some piece of sh*t because they mistakenly believed a piss take review. Most of the reviews already look like a piss take to anyone who knows about airsoft, the only thing which would differentiate a bogus one from someone on here, would probably be the spelling and grammar being at least correct, even if the content of it was utter bollox. Yes it is amusing, but it might make some unsuspecting buyer think 'well at least this guy isn't a retard who can't spell, so I'll take his word for it'. That site rips off enough people without our help in doing it, and despite the fact that much of the stuff sold there is indeed fairly cack, there is the odd decent item in amongst it all, so it would actually be more helpful to post something about one of the decent guns, whilst mentioning that most of the other stuff is not worth bothering about. After all, if we're going to be disparaging about the business, then helping the guy sell stuff to gullible people is hardly a smart thing to do. How do we know it isn't some kid's mum or dad reading our bogus recommendation, who knows little about the things, but wants to buy a present? Moreover, if we want people to join us in airsofting, then causing someone to be put off it right at the start, by having bought some piece of crap, is not exactly a cunning plan.
  10. Don't get me wrong, the A&K SVD is good as it comes, in fact it is truly excellent value for a fully metal weapon, and it looks the dog's bollox, even in two tone (I think I paid 137 quid for mine or something close to that, which was originally a green/black two tone until I sprayed the furniture black). It shoots really hard without any upgrades at all, mine does about about 480 fps with the stock internals, hardly surprising when you feel the cocking lever hauling that thing back lol, and you can tell it is decent when you look inside the thing, as it is all beautifully shiny blue anodised precision-machined alloy etc, so it is fairly accurate even as it comes. But the reason you will need to upgrade it if you are serious about sniping, is because you want mega-consistency in your shots and every bit of accuracy you can muster, since you are firing slow and you want one shot, one kill. You'll also want the trigger to be relatively light and the sear and other bits of the trigger mechanism to be decent hard metal, so that each trigger pull is the same, and wear is to a minimum. Not every upgrade and tweak will cost you money, some of it is just inexpensive DIY (there are several forums dedicated to souping up the A&K SVD), but if you really wanna reach out and touch people with it (and you will if you are serious about sniping), then you will find yourself unable to resist all the bits you can get for it which improve performance. And there are a lot of them, not all are expensive, but airsoft snipers get obsessive about all that shiny stuff, and I daresay you will too. But you will be impressed when you pull it out of the box it arrives in, it is a very imposing looking bit of kit.
  11. Actually it's not so much that A&K SVDs are a pig to cock, but more of a surprise when you first try it, since you are not expecting it to be that tough. So when most people try it for the first time, they don't get their arm and hand muscles ready for that much resistance and probably don't hold in a way which would assist in cocking either, so their first reaction is 'Christ almighty!' and I that experience creates a lasting impression. Once you know what to expect, you tend to be able to do cock the thing easily enough. However, it is worth knowing that they do tend to ease up a bit after a few goes at cocking them anyway. Some decent lube on them (since they are pretty much dry upon delivery) will also help. The extended cocking lever which you can get is helpful in winter when your hands are cold, and is cheap enough to have anyway, but once you get used to cocking it, it's okay with the regular handle. It is actually possible to get a full gas blowback conversion kit for the A&K SVD, which would make it more like the real thing (since the real SVD is semi automatic), and would mean you'd only have to cock the first shot, but it isn't a cheap option and requires a bit of DIY, but it will make it a more usable weapon. Note too that they are a heavy son of a bitch, and really long as well, so you will need a very decent sling. Also bear in mind that you'll need at least another fifty notes to get the best out of it, since you'll be paying about that for a replica PSO-1 sight, also note that the PSO-1 replicas are a bitch to fit on the A&K's rail, I had to use a rubber mallet to get mine on there. The mag is pretty low capacity as well, so you're probably going to need a spare few, the mag capacity varies on A&K SVDs, some older ones have a smallish mag capacity, the newer ones can hold more ammo. It's a good cheapish sniper rifle and it looks great, but figure on spending another ton or so to get it up to speed with other snipers, since adding a sight and some tweaks is going to cost about that much. You can use it with the iron sights, but it's not a classic SVD without a PSO-1 on it.
  12. Can picture the scene now. The fuzz pop round to ask about next doors' missing cat, they look through the kitchen window, to see you at the kitchen table with some scales typically used for weighing out drugs, and with what appears to be an AKS74U sat on the table within easy reach. Presently, an Aerospatiale Gazelle with what looks like some guys in black outfits equipped with MP5s and rapelling harnesses, hanging of the skids, approaches low over the rooftops. The pilot adjusts his NVG goggles and quietly chats into the radio as he pulls the nose up to go into a hover: 'ten seconds guys...'
  13. Not had that issue with a recent order, which was paid via paypal. Had craploads of order status emails off them, all of which went to spam and had to be released, but never anything which required an actual response to get things moving. Apparently shipping is eight days, so I guess I'll see if there are any issues in a week or so.

  15. Nah, that's the CYMA Thompson, although ironically enough, internally a lot of springer shotguns are just a knock off of the old CYMA P799 Benelli M3 Super 90 lookalike. Mechanically there's really not a lot to a basic springer 'cock and fire' BB shotgun, after all, it only requires a mechanism to push and lock a spring back and one to release it, most of the rest of it is simple gravity feeding, it's not as if the more expensive ones would have some other kind of magical system inside them. So unless we are talking about expensive gas ones or ones that use a shell system which understandably are going to cost more, the only difference you're gonna find between various basic spring ones is perhaps some with metal bits in the workings and some with plastic. My old CYMA P799 is probably twenty years old, and it still works as well as the day I bought it. I've got one of those cheap ass Mossberg 500s too, and I would happily skirmish with either of them if shotguns were my thing, but as it stands, I just keep em in my car as back ups for if I'm at a skirmish and someone's gun goes tits up and they want to borrow something.
  16. Gas Blowback two tone UZI ish thing, 90 quid: http://www.onlybbguns.co.uk/g11-usi-g11-gas-blow-back-sub-machine-gun.html?filter_name=UZI#.VM_ZIi5JVhM
  17. Do you have a UKARA? If you do, then this can be had for 69 quid including postage: http://gunfire.pl/product-eng-1152189545-Model-P5-K-PDW-G5-GALAXY-.html If not, then stretching to another 20 quid on your budget, you can get the two tone version for just over a ton from here (postage being free): http://www.onlybbguns.co.uk/g5-g5.html?filter_name=Galaxy%20G5#.VM_T7S5JVhM You may be able to find it cheaper with a bit of searching, but that's probably amongst the best low cost compact AEG SMGs you can get. It's a clone of the Tokyo Marui one, has a V3 metal gearbox, is reasonably accurate out to about 130 feet, has 230 BB mag capacity and a folding stock with a rear single point sling which is ideal for a back up to a sniper weapon. That Black Viper one won't last you too long, it'll work for a while, but don't expect too much of it and expect to be replacing it soon.
  18. First and Only, which is a site you list as playing at, will let you use an AEG up to 350 fps, although at CQB sites they'll be happier if it isn't right up there at 350. If your G&G is entirely 'stock', the chances are it will be doing about 330; it may well be doing a bit less than that since it's been used a bit. If you've never used a particular gun at a particular site, it is standard for them to chrono it, so you hardly need to go out of your way to get it done prior to going to a skirmish, unless you happen to know the person you bought it off put some fancy stronger spring in the thing. But, if you really do want to go and get it chrono'd for your peace of mind, then be sure to do so with .20g BBs, since that is what they generally want in your gun at a skirmish site when they chrono it. As others have noted, there's nothing stopping you owning a RIF, and you'll never be asked for a UKARA registration number at a skirmish site, just being there to play is proof enough that you are using the thing for skirmish airsofting. In fact, if you were there fairly regularly and they had a shop, they'd sell you a RIF without even asking for a UKARA, since they'd already know it was a legit sale to an airsofter, so no worries.
  19. Difficult to judge it off price alone on Taiwan Gun, I mean sure, that shotgun works out at 20 quid (less postage), but that place is good on pricing, so you could probably call it at least 40 quid in the UK. After all, you can get an AEG Thompson from Taiwain Gun for 65 quid, and they'll set you back 130 quid from a UK site.
  20. Probably the same internally as my metal DBoys M4 SIR. That's actually a pretty good gun, it's the one I use regularly.
  21. If you are going DMR, you definitely need a short range weapon as well, and a cock to fire pistol is not a good option (although see story below for a laugh on that score). You can get away with springers in close range CQB a bit, but a back up weapon for a DMR is a different kettle of fish. A DMR will typically be a semi auto (most sites won't insist, since you are supposedly taking well aimed shots), but if it is over 350 fps (and theoretically it could be 400 to 500 fps), then they absolutely will insist you stick to a minimum engagement range, and at many sites that minimum engagement range will be 30 metres, as it often is for support weapons too. So really, you need something which can engage several people at up to 30 metres range. Realistically, that's going to be at the very least a decent semi-auto pistol with something over 250 fps and 20 rounds capacity or more, or preferably a small smg or mp, such as an MP5K or Skorpion. I did actually manage to defeat a guy who had a support weapon once (at First and Only Woodland site near Bolton) with my springer pistol, because he was faffing about trying to switch it to semi-auto courtesy of a marshall telling him to switch fire modes as I ran up to the bunker he was defending. Whilst he was doing that, I popped up out of cover and nailed him with a 15 quid metal springer pistol at a range of about eight feet, then nailed the guy who came to medic him, then nailed someone else who came out to try and engage me, then got a fourth guy behind the barricade as well, but took a 50/50 kill from him since he did get a shot off. As you can imagine, the marshall was laughing his ass off at someone getting four straight kills with a 15 quid springer at a woodland site, including taking out an M249 support weapon. That of course was an exceptional occasion, I wouldn't like to put money on it ever happening again, so really, don't get that springer revolver, the capacity, rate of fire, plus the slower reloading than a semi automatic, is just asking to get over-run. Sitting Duck's suggestion of those cheap HFC/SRC non gas blowback pistols is a very good one. Sure they aren't blowback and they are not metal either, but they are available in several guises such as the H&K UDP, Smith and Wesson 1911, Beretta 92F and Sig 226, so there's bound to be one you like, and you can pick them up for less than 30 quid from BB gun sites all over the place. They are actually not bad weapons, especially for the money. Mags are pretty inexpensive too. Failing that, I'd suggest a Well G55 (gas blowback MP5K) or a Galaxy G5 (AEG MP5K). You can get the Well ones for about 95 quid, although the mags can be a bit pricey and it only comes with a 20 round one, so you'd need to buy a couple of the larger capacity ones. Don't be put off by the Well name though, it's a Maruzen clone with some improvements, so it's actually not bad, although the rate of fire is insane, so you really do need a spare mag or two. So if having to cough up for spare mags is an issue, the Galaxy G5 can be found for about 70 quid and comes with a high cap 230 round mag, so it would probably be a smarter choice. Again, don't be put off by the brand, it's a clone of the Tokyo Marui one (but with much better fps), so it's actually a pretty good AEG.
  22. Guild Wars was a brilliant game, with one of the best musical soundtracks ever, but some of the voice acting in it was atrociously bad... Not that it's a particularly stupid line in itself in comparison to many others, but if there was an Oscar for the most lethargic, phone-it-in acting anyone has ever managed in a game cut scene, then the moment where you get ambushed on the Divinity Coast in the original Guild Wars, when some of the voice 'talent' playing a villager is supposed to yell out in mortal fear: 'The Shining Blade! Dwayna Protect Us!' would be the hands down winner. He manages all the dramatic gravitas and tension of someone ordering a set of wood screws from B&Q.
  23. Bit subjective really. Some people swear by one brand, others will slag the same brand off and say they jammed up their such and such a gun. If I were you I'd try and buy them at a local site or local shop, since it supports the business in your area and helps it stay in business. Most skirmish sites will stock something that is reliable and decent (ish), since they'll likely be putting em through their own hire guns, so it would be stupid for them to have stuff that is crap and wrecks stuff in their own shop, although it's worth noting that they are also businesses, so economy may be favoured over ultimate quality, thus it's not an absolute guarantee of using the best available when you buy from a skirmish site shop. If however, you prefer to buy online, Zero One is not a bad place to get BBs from. They have a fairly varied stock and postage costs are not bad, with quite a few options, and they do tend to have an up to date stock level display on their website, so you're generally going to get stuff quickly. You'll get arguments from people over whether the Zero One branded BBs are any good, I know several skirmish sites which sell them and I've used them with no issues myself in GBBs, AEGs and springers, but I have seen a few people say they're not so good, so it's up to you as far as they are concerned. Either way, Zero One stock G&G PSBPs, Excels, TMs, Marushin and a few others, all of which will rarely get a complaint, so you can go with pretty much any of those and expect few issues. Most people will probably say Excels are a good choice. If you're going for .28s, that might be a sniper rifle I'm guessing, and if that's the case, then it's not a bad idea to sift through them manually and wash them gently to get any crap off them, some bags of BBs (even the good ones on occasion) can have tiny bits of crap in the bottom of the bag, and even the very best BBs can have an occasional iffy one in there, sorting and washing them will avoid that stuff getting into your gun.
  24. Absolutely. Sadly my dad died the other week (had his funeral this Friday, which I was proud to get up and talk to the congregation at, as he did so many cool things in his life). He was in the REME, and I may very well start wearing a small REME badge because of that, and if anyone doesn't like it, then tough.
  25. I'm sure I get a similar thing with one of my leather jackets which has a set of FAI pilot's wings badge sewn onto it. Doubtless some people may think I'm a wannabe w@nker for having those wings on the jacket, although if they bothered to talk to me, they'd find out those are actually genuine ones which I earned as a pilot back in '97. But, if anyone wants to think that they're some wannabe totem, and get a weed up their ass about it, then that's their problem not mine. Personally, if I saw someone else wearing some, I'd probably just think 'cool, another pilot' and go and chat to them, and if it turned out they were just wearing them because they liked 'em or whatever, and hadn't 'been there and done it', I wouldn't give a crap, it's their clothing, they can put what they like on it as far as I'm concerned. I know some people can get a bit snotty about people wearing badges they are not 'entitled to' but in my experience it's invariably a sign of admiration or occasionally even a tribute to a dad or grandad, when people do that so I'd never think that ill of someone for doing so unless they were being a tw*t about it and confirmed otherwise, and even if it was for no other reason than because they were interested in that unit, then that's great too. After all, you don't have to have defended Berlin from the Allies in 1945 to wear a fallschirmjager smock, just liking the look of it is all the justification you need, and it doesn't make you a Nazi if you do wear one any more than it means someone wearing an Afghan loadout is Osama Bin Laden's best mate. So I only think someone is a w@nker if they act like one, and we certainly don't need any badges or outfits to help us identify who those are.
