This could draw me over to the dark side.

You pissed all over the guys sales post & told him, in your opinion, he's charging too much, the rules are clear, & your post definitely can be considered non constructive. Regarding editing your post, it was either delete it, or explain that the only place to critique sales posts is in Macks, i chose the latter, but something tells me you wouldn't be happy with either.
-
Upon request, I'm posting this here, less so because of the price and more because of the bizarre way this was dealt with. My post was neither off-topic nor 'significantly non-constructive'. Actually pretty weirded out by the fact that moderators can edit your own posts without your knowledge (only saw that my message had been edited when returning to the post), that seems like quite the violation as I'm sure most of you would agree. The seller only saw the edited message and was understandably confused. So what did I do wrong? Give fair criticism in a place where both the seller and a potential buyer can judge for themselves? You tell me.

Why, they're still around. (The one I miss is Classic Army) But there are many others now and overall quality has gone up with prices going down.

Certainly wasn't expecting a compliment like that on an airsoft forum... I'll show you more if you pay with pistols 😉

Lighter BBs fly faster right out the barrel, but given that all BBs are the same size and surface finish, they suffer the same amount of drag. The lighter BBs suffer more air resistance though, because they go faster. So they slow down much sooner and lose a lot more of their energy.

What have you just 3d printed (for airsoft)

There's this one Japanese guy who 3D prints different MWS GBB guns. Petty incredible, but it's all running deliberately gently -

Hi guys, hope you are all well, Looking to sell my G&P XM177E1, I've tinkered with it a long long time ago to try to make it as period accurate to the E1s carried during the war in Vietnam. The main characteristics of it was the partial fencing, which in this case was trimmed by hand from a regular XM177E2 fully fenced lower. The "safe, semi, full" markings on the right side have been filled and sanded until smooth. The dust cover, magazine catch and rear sight aperture are all real parts, all of them were a little funny looking on the standard airsoft model. Original stock has been painted grey as per the original anodized stocks these had (not nylon coated). The forging flash line on the front sight has been ground down and the front sling swivels have been roll-pinned in place. Comes with a complete pencil barrel M16A1 barrel assembly, also from G&P, comes with handguards and gas tube installed. XM177E1 is front wired to deans, so the barrel has had a relief cut on the underside to run the cable through. Will need internal barrel. I wanted to keep the gun front wired, because it comes with a stock adapter that will allow you to put a real stock on it and turn it into an XM16E1. The buffer tube is milspec so original stocks will fit. Mine did not come with the piece that holds the end of stock in place so I made one with some hard plastic and tape, works fine. Also comes with an additional 6 shorty MAG midcaps. Important: I have not used this carbine for almost 5 years, it works, but could do with a bit of TLC and a clean. One of the connectors on the motor is a little jerry-rigged and I believe the grip is missing one screw. Great fun playing with it back then, nice and compact, going to miss it but got to move it. Any questions, offers or the like, don't hesitate to shoot me a message! Price includes shipping in the mainland!£400

i'd argue the lions share of perceived longer flight time is due to the heavier bb's travelling further, ie past a short distance the heavier round can actually be faster at getting from a to b until it's the case that the lighter round can't even make it to b. although in the case when the bucking can't spool up the heavies without robbing enough energy to negate the range benefits your point does apply. however if the circumstances mean you're not using the extra range then no point spending extra for a benefit you're not using. heavier rounds became more available/cheaper, off the shelf buckings made it easier to spin them up, and enough people started using them to notice the benefits.

Heavier BBs are less affected by wind/leaves etc (higher inertia) so fly further/straighter depending on overall power and hop. Lower weight BBs fly faster so if your pew manages to fling them far enough there may not be much point going heavier.

I couldn't agree more about doing rental first or borrowing from your stepson if possible. Getting a two-tone before waiting to get a UKARA defence is arguably worse in the long term whether you decide you really enjoy it and decide to get another gun or if you decide airsoft is not for you. Two-tone depreciates a lot more than a RIF because it has little demand from those who can buy the latter. Even if you paint over or remove the bright colour from a two-tone (technically illegal but I'm not aware of any prosecutions), it'll still be considered less desirable and fetch less as you try reselling it. As EDcase alluded too, there are too many cases where we've had to tell people the harsh reality that they'll have to eat up a big loss to shift any two-tone guns they're reselling.

EDcase replied to sp00n's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I would say its impossible to 3d print an entire working airsoft mechanism so yeah, shell bits around existing components would be fine. -
back when i started airsoft (2001 was my first gun) everything was .20g and maybe .25g what changed?
