I was wondering about this too. The by the book way seems very long winded. There's an interesting video on YouTube by a guy that had his car broken into (I think) and various items stolen. I think he was a photographer or bird watcher or something. He found his camera tripod for sale in a cash converters type place shortly after and documented the insane loops to go through to get it back. I suppose someone could say "this is mine, it was stolen. I'm taking it. He's my contact details should you wish to query it or I'm happy to wait and speak to the police now and you can talk to them about handling stolen goods". You can't steal what you already own I suppose. One for Blackbelt Barrister perhaps.

I've just come into possession of a genuine Eotech, however it needs some kind of servicing or repairs done to it regarding the battery compartment and battery contacts. I believe the model is a Eotech 511 but not entirely sure. Can anyone point me in the direction of any tech who can perhaps help get this working?

So after deciding not to spend too much on the new 417 right away.. i bought a new inner barrel, a new M100 Spring, a scope, a bipod, and two 500mm pieces of raw ally bar/tube to make a silencer for it. I can't be trusted with money. -

No no no. He got permission from the police, remember? "Deal with it as you see fit." He has it recorded, it's basically a warrant. Errr, right? 😕

Unfortunately not, because the buffer tube has a stonking great spring in it that extends the stock. Most of the rest of the stock is taken up by various other gubbins as well. -

The police do not routinely check the career history of alleged victims of crime; that is my experience from being a victim of serious crime and from supporting people who have been victims of crime, and I checked it this evening with a serving police officer. Realistically, the only way they would know would be if you have told them at some point. So, let's say you rock up to the boot fair and demand that the stallholder returns the allegedly stolen goods; the stallholder says "Mate, I bought these from a guy I met in the pub." At that point, how are you going to prove that they are your allegedly stolen items? Do they have something distinctive about them that you can describe to the organisers before getting anywhere near the stall holder? If you have not, you are going to be out of luck.

Assuming you can prove it's yours, & the seller has enough of what was taken still in his possession to match your crime report. Even then, you're assuming he'll roll over & say something like "it's a fair cop guv, fill yer boots", or alternatively he claims he paid good money for them & tells you to do one, will you then be forced to rely on the local plod to turn up, given that they've previously blown you out apparently.

So why would they say ex-army, and not ex-police? Just so we're all on the same page, none of this adds up and everyone thinks you're talking utter bollocks, in the follow-up thread that no-one asked for, after you got locked out of the first one. In the (unlikely) event any of it's true, don't do dumb shit like keeping RIFs in your car and rolling around with them day to day. That alone should be obvious. Someone who says they have 4 kids should be a little more sensible and responsible. 🙄

Question, How can you prove to the seller (assuming they still have it) that the kit is yours and that you are not trying to pull a fast one?

A Knock off B.A.D. Lever from Empire Airsoft. An original one will set you back about 40 notes but this little beauty was a penny shy of sixteen nicker. Postage bumped that up to 22 finest British pounds. I had to shim it, with a bit of Monster can, and it works lovely. 20250429_211025.mp4 https://www.empireairsoft.co.uk/ar-15-m16-badlever.html -
Funny, but no, I've always had dealings with the police, coming from a police family it's hard to loose the smell of pig. The met are known to check these things, end of the day I dont care how they know doesn't effect me. I have my plan, im not going to use violence I'm keeping everything legal and the seller at the boot sale has no legal ground to stop me taking my stuff back

Ditto, it was a new one for me and I didn't think I'd like it but it actually works well from a gameplay POV. Makes camping far less effective and tends to help things flow. Not a rule for all games but made a nice change

I bought this at AP on Sunday, having admired it in the site shop for a while. It is currently in bits on the work table and will soon have a new hop rubber and nub, a Perun Hybrid and 13:1 gears so that I can run it on a 2000mAh 7.4v battery that just about fits in the handguard. -
After messing around with my VFC ak's appearance an unhealthy amount recently I figured it could be a good idea to share and document what parts fit it without mods/minor mods/won't fit etc. So far I have tried: (Colour code: Green = Straight Fit / Orange = Modification Needed / Red = Won't Fit) E&L Wood Furniture (Handguards) LCT Wood Furniture (Handguards) Genuine AK74m Lower Handguard (May vary on manufacturer, not sure what manufacturer the one I tried was) LCT B-10M 5KU SPORT-4 (Retainer catch and receiver block (On the actual lower handguard where it slots into the hole of the AK receiver) needed filing a small amount) LCT Triangle Stock (A shim for the top of the stock is needed to stop the stock from walking up and down) 5KU B-33 (Fits fine however as it's AEG spec it needs to be cut and redrilled) If you have one and would like to help me extend the list it would be massively appreciated!

Indeed! It is possible that they checked previous employment, but I have never known them to do so in my sadly rather regular dealings with them. I think I can smell something that comes out of the back end of a male Bos taurus.

There’s a Bridle Path running next to the site which is now part of my cycling route so I can keep an eye on the place. As of last weekend nothings changed up there, looks exactly the same. Only thing I’ve noticed a quite a number of the trees have been marked up for what looks like felling. I’m really hoping it starts up again….
