Winston Wolf
Hey guys, I've been flirting with the idea of getting a gun of some sort for a long while, and did initially consider getting an Air Rifle. After some consideration, I found that these were a bit too expensive to just "try" and recently saw that BB and Airsoft guns were a lot cheaper and probably more new-person-friendly. I recently purchased a Two-Tone Green G36C Assault Rifle (M85) AEG which I read up on quite a bit with the reviews on that site, Youtube videos and also Amazon US. It looks quite good for a starter gun! What do you think? I'll be looking to purchase better guns in the future if it's enjoyable and I want to take it further, but I'm just going to be shooting targets etc in my rather large back garden! Fun! Anyway, enough of that. It's good to be here, and it'll be fun to participate in the forum and learn new things. Are there any other additional equipment you'd recommend for a complete newcomer to this world of Airsoft? I've got my eyes on a Speedloader but apart from that, I'm not sure what else to get. Also do you know of any Airsoft clubs in the North-east of England? I'd like to get a UKARA license if possible so I can buy replica guns and not the two-tone ones. I've discovered 3 clubs, but they don't seem to be active and I recently discovered one closed down in 2011. Not looking good for the others! Thanks guys! See you around! AF-UK Founding Member Deva Posted April 9, 2012 AF-UK Founding Member Share Posted April 9, 2012 Welcome to the forums By club, do you mean somewhere to play, or a bunch of people to play with? The latter isn't so important, lots of people go airsofting on their own. Unfortunately, the DE isn't the greatest of skirmishable starter weapons. You're really looking to be spending £100+ as anything under that is likely to be low quality and won't be working for long.
Winston Wolf
I just mean somewhere to play. I'd happily read up on the club itself and I'm sure if it's anything like Paintball there will be registered playsites that I could go along to on a weekend, rent gun and gear and join in. As for gun I bought as a starter skirmish weapon, it's just for backyard plinking. Much more of a small taster of better things to come. I've already came to terms with it not being useful for anything other than CQB in a skirmish - if I were to do that - but I won't be using it for battles. Thank you for the welcome! EDIT: Ah I see the confusion. By saying "club" in the initial post, I meant play site. Google was just showing me clubs in the North-east, not play sites. Checked for the play sites and the closest seems to be Teeside. Bit of a journey from ol' Newcastle!

Hudson
Hiya fella. Welcome to the forum! The closest site to Newcastle is probably NSC, just outside Durham. NSC
Winston Wolf
Thank you for the welcomes! Thanks for providing that site, Hudson. Looks like I'm going to have to contact these guys in the next few weeks or so, see if I can arrange a game day with them. Going to be costly with gun hire. Thanks for that link. I'm definitely interested in that gun and will probably consider getting it in a few weeks. M4 Carbines are actually my favourite weapon, so it's pretty much perfect. Says that I can get it painted as well in the UKARA box instead of putting a number in. Not heard of that website before though, anyone got experience with it? Winston Wolf
wait tell me that dosen`t say £99.99! It does, and that caught my eye too. Looks very cheap for a gun that is damn sexy and to my new eyes, I'm seeing rainbows. The specifications are very nice is what I'm trying to say. I know it's probably a stupid question, but is that a good price for the gun? Are you likely to find it cheaper anywhere else? I'd like to get one, but not within the next week or two. I'd hate to miss the sale and have to pay £40+ more or something when I finally get around to it.

Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted April 11, 2012 Supporters Share Posted April 11, 2012 £100 is easily the cheapest I've ever seen a G&G M4 go for, they're usually £130 to £150 at least, even I'm tempted to buy it now lol, I need a cheap gun to practice working on internals so it won't mean I've wasted so much money if I ruin it with my nooby inexperience. Looks like that gun is still up for sale on their site for that price. I've freed up some funds now and after playing with the cheap two-tone I linked above, I'm ready to get a high quality gun between the £150-200 mark. Only problem I have is that I'd have to get it two-toned since I'm not UKARA registered yet. Is it possible to get a good build quality rifle for £150-200, get it two-toned (i.e. a black RIF custom-sprayed, not plastic parts), and when I'm registered get it sprayed back to completely black? Just wondering. If anyone can give me some good options on M4 Carbines (my favourite weapon) that're between the £150-200 range, that'd be awesome. I've been looking myself but I could really use some experienced guys to point me in the right direction. Also just how good is that £99.99 M4 in the link above? Will there be a sizeable difference between that and a £150-200 M4? Thanks in advance for any answers. All the help is really appreciated in getting a new guy into this world of Airsoft on the right foot.
