Marui supposed to work on a SIG pistol but I dunno if it's gonna ever happen.

  • 1 month later...

Pics show trades.ย  I can't see them advertising pre-orders and than swapping out the product.ย  We'll see I guess.ย

I'm pretty sure this is just a batch a supplier had lying around, since there is no mention of the shipment on TM's website. I wouldn't get too optimistic about new batches of gen5 just yet

Are you 100% sure? Because TM don't mention it in their product calendar

Well you can now order G18s and Gen 4 G17s so yeah, pretty sureย

ย

Link to the product calendar you're looking at? Maybe it's just not updated.

https://www.tokyo-marui.co.jp/products/new/#productsNew-Calendar ย  ย Here's the link. The reason I'm saying it is, as far as I know TM doesn't directly supply retailers, but ships to distributors who then sell to stores. It's likely a distributor had leftover g17.4 and g18c they didn't sell originally which were now sent to stores (and TM didn't say anything about new shipments)

Trademarks still there, and "new in stock" but no indication if this is left over stock, new batch, or anything to do with the G5.

I doubt they will have re-engineered the gen4. Theyโ€™ll have just re-produced it to the original spec. It was very good at the time and still pretty decent even with the improvements of the gen5. Seems like a lot of added cost.

Who knows man.ย  If you go by that calender though, the Gen 5 was released in 2023 but none were shipped...ย  Neither were any shipped in 2024 that I can see...So something isn't right.

ย

All we have to go is multiple retailers saying more were shipped from the manufacturer and they were taking pre orders.ย  Presumably from the distributor.ย

I always interpreted it as a โ€œproduction calendarโ€. maybe thatโ€™s wrong, but it logically made sense to me. they ear marked November 2023 (or whenever it was) to produce the Gen5. By the time it was despatched to retailers, it was January. They then ear markedย

ย

Most of the gen5s will have gone to the Japanese market before being opened to international distributors.
ย

As far as I can tell from the TM website, thereโ€™s been no batch of gen5s this year. Itโ€™s probably residual stock theyโ€™re trickling out to distributors.

From point of release in Japan to us getting them in the UK is usually 3 - 6 months. In that time period, no more new G17.5 batches have made in the scope of that timetable.

ย

Gen 5 MOS were released in Japan December 2023, first ones arriving in the UK were February 2024 - so they were the December 2023 batch of production. The only glocks shipped by TM for 2024 were the G19.4's in April. Prior to that, the last G17's (gen 3) prior to that were in May 2023, the last G17.4 reference was back in April 2023.ย

ย

These gen 4's are probably from that or older batches. There is no mythical new batch, its just old stock.

I had a Gen.5 for a few months or so and I sold it because it's just another glock at the end of day. I understand that when you crave it it seems way better then what it is but I think it's extremely overhyped/overrated.ย ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

TM G19 Gen3 & Gen4 about to be released.

These are not residual stocks from distributors (like the G17 Gen4 and G18C). These are newly produced batches. TM has sent the release / order sheets a couple of days ago.

TM official website release calendar has not been updated, that is all.

TM G17 Gen5 will come up some day, like nothing happened.

Reason of the "delay" is said to be the plastic materials price increase. Lots of other toy makers had such issues lately.
