Jester_UK
Hi guys I have a G&G Combat Machine CM16 Raider L and am wondering if it is worth upgrading the hop up chamber, bucking and nub and inner barrel. I am thinking of the following: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-chambers/zci-rotary-m4-hop-chamber-aluminium-red https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-buckings-nubs/zci-rubber-hop-up-bucking-60-clear https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/inner-barrels/zci-inner-barrel-363mm Any opinions greatly appreciated. AK47frizzle
Instead, go for this: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/maple-leaf-macaron-50-aeg?search=macaron (the yellow 60 is preferable, but they don't have it in stock atm) Personally, i'd go for the plastic version: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/zci-prowin-style-hopup-chamber-plastic-m4?search=zci hop Because it can flex and is easier to mod to fit different buckings/chambers if the sizes are a bit off. Though, there is nothing wrong with the metal version if you want something solid.
Jester_UK
I was thinking the metal one would be more solid but is there much in it between the metal and plastic versions? With regard to the bucking, I may be asking a stupid question, but does the hop rubber you recommended come with a nub or would that be separate? You'll need this: https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/maple-leaf-nub?search=maple leaf nub Either the plastic and metal chambers will be fine. But, they don't come with nubs. I guess you still have your G&G one. However, it's not nearly as good at this maple leaf nub
Jester_UK
Thanks for the info. I think I'll got for the plastic hop up unit and the bucking and nub you recommended as well. Need to get my raider shooting a bit more consistently.
Supporters Rogerborg Posted July 18, 2019 Supporters Share Posted July 18, 2019 I agree with that combination of parts, but the G&G raiders are pretty decent out of the box. Have you tried cleaning your rubber and barrel and reseating everything?
Jester_UK
As best I can with my limited experience yes lol. Problem is the BBs are going all over the place so it's difficult to dial in my ACOG.
Supporters Rogerborg Posted July 19, 2019 Supporters Share Posted July 19, 2019 Frustrating, isn't it? Well, putting together a complete new hop + rubber + barrel makes sense, as you can swap it in and out in a couple of minutes. Just keep the old unit to hand in case the new one needs some further fettling.
Jester_UK
TBH it's a fairly easy upgrade that as long as I'm careful can't go too wrong. I know G&G are meant to be pretty good as stock but I don't mind spending a bit of money and time to see if I can get it better. Don't believe in binning old stuff that still works as you never know when you'll need it lol. Maybe there should be a TV program about Airsoft hoarders lol

Jester_UK
I presume it is a straightforward swap. Was going to look into it further when I do the internals. Also want to swap the arp9 stock for a standard crane stock to be able to use bigger batteries.

Jester_UK
I already have a few foregrips etc to fit to a normal rail and mlok accessories seem to be harder to get such as torches lasers etc. I know you can get adapters but it seems easier to replace the handguard. Fair but mlok parts are fairly easy to get now and the handguards are lighter and the attachment system is stronger. Each to their own though.
