Maybe I should just get one and see what all the fuss is about:PBtw anyone like magpal ACR?? Want to get one really really really badlly Nah, I know what you mean. There's only one model of the G36 I like, the KV, and it technically doesn't exist outside of airsoft. The rest... >meh< I could take 'em or leave 'em. I hate the MG36 with a passion. And the XM8 family. Magpul ACR... outisde of Modern Warfare 2, yes, I like it. Looks nice, has a fairly functional appearance.

Supporters M_P Posted April 10, 2011 Author Supporters Share Posted April 10, 2011 L86 LSW specifically. Kinda like a modernised, backwards and upsidedown Bren gun. I don't mind the new RiS'd up versions - some of the new RiS'd ones look pretty nice, especially when it has the Elcan Spectre DR and the new EMAGs... Fixed shame the lsw isnt that good as welll.... an lsw, correct me if im wrong but isnt it being used as a dmr now? but not Magpul. I can't stand it when people cover armalites so much Magpul gear that they've trippled the weight of their gun - fair enough, some of it is very useful - but some of these buyers strike me as the type of people who'd buy manure if it came with a Magpul logo. Im in the same boat, i like the mags, especially emags- although i only have pmags most of the stocks are nice too UBR, PRS, MOE. but the ctr is a waste of money and the acs is plain ugly YES THE G36K IS FLIPPING NICE GET OVER IT No
Tristan Orr
The SA80 LSW is currently being used as a DRM yes but it was designed to be a LSW and that is what I use it as, until I upgrade it

Maybe I should just get one and see what all the fuss is about:PBtw anyone like magpal ACR?? Want to get one really really really badlly your not the only one, i despise them apart from a well kitted out K. btw its bushmaster/remington acr, it was designed by magpul and called the masada before they sold on the design and it got a name change. they are nice but i dont think i would ever buy one, they just arent something i can see myself liking to use. Nah, I know what you mean. There's only one model of the G36 I like, the KV, and it technically doesn't exist outside of airsoft. The rest... >meh< I could take 'em or leave 'em.I hate the MG36 with a passion. And the XM8 family. the KV is alrigth actually, could do with an E front end though... same thoughts on the rest and the XM8 is satanism in airsoft form Can I win the lottery and buy everyone there dream gun??? No... firstly, i want to win and secondly youd be bankrupt pretty soonish as i keep changing my mind as to my dream gun....
Hubert
Fixed shame the lsw isnt that good as welll.... an lsw, correct me if im wrong but isnt it being used as a dmr now? EMAGs, PMAGs, what's a few letters between friends? I'm writing something on this for a guide, so its difficult not to spoil it but - Support is a very vague term. Support doesn't always mean "wall of bullets". LSW doesn't always = SAW, SAW doesn't always = LSW. So the MoD can claim that the LSW is very successful. As a marksman support weapon, not an automatic support weapon. Bare in mind that when the project started in the 1960s, the GPMG was not going to be replaced with the LSW. It wasn't until budget cuts in 1998 that some bright spark (re:moron) decided that the venerable, trusty, reliable and popular L7 'Gimpy' was useless, and that an over-sized assault rifle was a better replacement... Which reminds me of another nice looking gun - L7/ FN MAG 57 GPMG. (But not as pretty as the L86)

Hubert
good point i suppposes, support in a different way, mind you we have the minimi's insteat of gimpy's now:D...... oh dear..... 5.56..... sigh Actually, the armourers of the British Army, and the Squaddies seem to have a wonderful habbit of hiding away guns after they've been made 'obsolete', and 'finding' them when they're required. Case in point - After Korea, the British forces were supposed to get rid of the Browning 50.Cal. Fast-forwards to the Falklands, and suddenly the land forces are being supported by these mythical, strange weapons, mounted on tri-pods that looked oddly like the 50.Cals we'd scrapped 25 years earlier... The same goes for the Gimpy. '91 they suddenly re-emerged from unit armouries to fight in the Gulf, and the same has happened in Afghanistan. Look at film of Squaddies on patrol in Afghanistan, and you'll see quite a few Gimpies.

Hubert
Hahaha, I wish I was. I'm just very interested in history, politics, and military studies. I've written a few things on certain military history things. My specialist subject is armour, tanks of the 1940s to present day. I'm taking a War Studies or Defence Studies course at uni next year (either Kings or Kent). I also come from a family with quite a few serving members, and know quite a few current and ex forces through my Dad. Means I know a fair bit. I read a lot of magazines and books on history, and military stuff. Through that and conversations means I know stuff. Someone once called me the Stephen Fry of firearms (which, is hilarious since I slightly resemble him )

GunNut
Pistol: Browning or 1911 Totally with you on that one Also, having owned a crappy G36 I was put off by them, but I'm willing to give them a chance. Why does everybody hate M4's? I love 'em! I just got a G&G GR16 for my birthday and it is the hottest looking gun in the world (this is a fact). MZKaleem
ok that is nice! But really the only M16's/M4's i like are RIS'd CQBR's and VN style ones, as well as the Magpul MOE M4's, trying to think of the others ATM

They are over used, everyone and their grandma has one and they all look exactly the same:every attachment possible on the rail including cupholder, coat hanger and kitchen sink OR fagpul'd to death, whixh reminds me I have a stock to replace..... I agree, I'm not a big fan of all the attachments, lasers, torches etc... I like mine to look clean and simple. But the point you made about 'everyone' having them is no reason to not like the way they look, which is what this thread is about.
