Big Joe
I need help deciding. At least I've narrowed it down to two that I want. What are the differences (apart from price, realism).
Baz JJ
You already know my thoughts on this.
Spatch
Pretty much that, price and quality, also 417 mags are stupidly expensive for what they are so bare that in mind too
Supporters M_P Posted December 19, 2013 Supporters Share Posted December 19, 2013 The VFC has great externals and average internals but has a proprietary gearbox. The G&G has average externals and great internals. Personally I'd go for the VFC and upgrade as I value the feel of the gun more than the performance as that can easily be changed later for less money. Mack
Umarex 417 is based on the 7.62 variant and the G&G 418 is the 5.56 Personally Id go with the 417.
Moose87
yer tis a hard choice between those two. i would go for the vfc. if you want something like the 417 but without the big mags you could for the vfc m27 which is basically a longer 416. Big Joe
I like the look of the big mags, but ain't it a pain in the arse to find pouches for them?
Moose87
they do make them. some double mags pouches take them.
Supporters M_P Posted December 19, 2013 Supporters Share Posted December 19, 2013 There are quite a few manufacturers that do pouches for them, I think blue force gear do.
Big Joe
Such a hard decision, each rifle has different things that I love. Eg. Blowback, sling mount, g&g internals, but then there's the looks, mags, trademarks of the HK417.
Supporters M_P Posted December 19, 2013 Supporters Share Posted December 19, 2013 The 417 is much more unique as well, something that may be a plus-point.
Big Joe
It's beautiful aswell
Moose87
yer im a complete fan on the 417, i really want one but i also want a m27 as they are both pretty unique and not overly mass produced. the internals are average but the 417 has the 2.2 gear box so its ait different and im not sure about upgrades for it. but i run a VFC SR16 and its about 3 years old and i have only just had to start playing with the gearbox
Baz JJ
I like the stock better on the VFC. The mags are only 100 rounds though because they have the dummy 7.62mm cartridges inside. Might be worth checking price and availability of spare mags if you are fighting high cappers in a general purpose skirmish.
Big Joe
What's the difference with the 2.2 gearbox? Baz I think they do 500rd high caps for £40 and the miss are £
Adammd209
The V2.2 gearbox comes apart in 3 bits, I think to give you the correct angled grip. I absolutely love mine and I haven't upgraded internally at all. Very nice with li-po's. Great range and accuracy. Magazines are very large but I run a hi-cap (500 rounds) and that's it! It's not light... Not small but it just works.
Big Joe
What lipo do you run? 7.4? I think I've decided I am going to get HK417, probably with a couple mid caps. The dummy cartridges in the mag is a nice touch.
Adammd209
I use a 7.4 and an 11.
