Advice on a full-metal M4 R.I.S (and best possible upgrades)

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum and actually not been doing much Airsoft'ing the last year due to other commitments but I'm now getting back into it again... in the past I've had a JG G36 as well as a Warrior L96 etc. but I'm now getting back into it and will soon be looking at purchasing a new gun (as I gave the other two away to a friend who also did Airsoft)...

So my question is...

What would you recommend is the 'best' full-metal M4 R.I.S and by best I mean build quality and reliability (I really do want full-metal to make it feel and look as realistic as possible) and then on top of that... can you then recommend (with webpage links if possible) the best upgrades (I assume a Nylon barrel is a good idea etc and maybe an upgraded gearbox etc.)... Really I want to spend as much money as possible (obviously within reason! Not over say £500 though!) to build the 'best' full-metal M4 and then be done with it... I'm not sure what your advice is on blowback either but I assume the advice would be steer clear and just go for standard AEG with non-blowback?

I've heard good things about Classic Army and I.C.S (although apparently not as good as CA as they have a dodgy 'split' gearbox apparently which makes it easier to switch out on game days but can be prone to issues) but then I've watched some YouTube videos and people seem to really rate KWA M4's highly.... I'm really confused and would REALLY appreciate a little help from all you Airsoft guru's out there :) - The gun really should be limited to 328FPS too!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and hopefully you'll be able to help me out with some good advice :)

Cheers,

Bobby

due to having one and i think its widely regarded to, VFC build the most realistic looking AEGs. there internals are usually quite reliable, the only gripe i hear people having is that they are a little expensive. but they fall under the 500 mark.

Ics are pretty terrible tbh CA used to be pretty bad to but they're a lot more reliable these days but they're quite expensive g&g are prob the best for your money or g&p :)

ICS are actually very reliable,Split gearbox is very easy to maintain and upgrade and it's very strong and reliable.

Classic Army have REALLY dropped in quality these days, guns use cheap monkey metal which cracks and warps easily, guns are badly assembled,QC has gone down the drain.

VFC make AMAZAH externals, internals are standard fare stuff but have the self shimming system which can crap out after 3 or 4 years of use.

Lonex make a very internally reliable and good external M4 line, they are re branded by ASG and have LMT trades.

G&G top tech is a good balance between external and internal quality, kind of like Marui of old before they went all out with the CNC externals and Recoil stoof.

Good, simple and reliable internals and solid externals, fantastic guns.

G&P have fantastic externals like VFC,some higher end models have CNC bodies made of aircraft grade aluminium, but internals have a few niggles such as gears often shredding out prematurely. But overall great guns, they make good quality aftermarket externals for M4s.

Thanks ever so much for all your responses guys... I was kinda hoping that all advise would point to a single gun/manufacturer lol.. but I guess I should do some more research then as obviously there cannot therefore be a clear 'winner'... I appreciate all your responses and recommendations :)

some of the G&G guns come with a pneumatic blowback

this the one I just brought not full metal but reinforced nylon fibre very sturdy body and rail not the most expensive but it has an fps of 328 forward assist

Thanks for your reply Dazzer...

As I really want full metal I think I'm going to take the advise on the G+P and go for this one:- http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268_318_394&products_id=5764

If anyone already has one of these and strongly recommends I DON'T purchase it please let me know... I'll be ordering it in a couple of weeks otherwise :)

I'll be changing the existing sight that comes with it to a holographic sight more than likely this one: http://www.military1st.co.uk/17188-strike-systems-advanced-552-redgreen-dot-sight.html

Does anyone know how customisable/upgrade availability is for this gun??

Cheers,

Bobby

Gun looks good, G&P is a guarantee of quality and parts compatibility, sight is a horrendously overpriced mess. Look on ebay for a 552 replica if you want one, it'll be the same thing just cheaper and with realistic trademarks.

Arrrhhh I've probably been doing something that I shouldn't lol... still looking at guns lol!

As I'm going to get a Holographic sight anyway and not too bothered about the supressor, also kinda worried that if I ever wanted to use a tracer unit on the 'Special Forces' version of the gun (linked above) that it might not work... so I've just found this one:-

G&P M4 Sentry (Black Magpul Type)

http://www.landwarriorairsoft.com/acatalog/G-P-M4-Sentry--Black-Magpul-Type--GP901M--GP901M.html#.Uht8X2TXgVk

I just wondered if anyone could tell me if in theory this will perform/is the same minus the fact that the sentry comes with NO silencer and NO dot sight? - If anyone thinks the other model (Special Forces) would be better in anyway at all then please let me know as I'll probably got for the Sentry version instead otherwise :)

Also... As this gun is 'Magpul Type' what does that mean? - Just a style/branding on the gun or does this mean I can only use Magpul Magazines with it??

Cheers in advance,

Bobby

The sentry will perform the same, the lack of silencer is no issue and the G&P aimpoint sights are crap anyway.

The magpul type refers to the markings on the lower body of the rifle, it will take normal m4 mags still.
