What DMR/EMRs are available?

I only fire on Single shot and like the idea of being a DM/EM ( incase people reading are unfamiliar with these terms, its Designated Marksman/ Enhanced Marksman), what good rifles are there out there and what would people recommend?

the ones i know of are the m14 which is quite common. I have seen a Gas M39 EMR in one of Scoutthedoggies vids on youtube but havent been able to find it for sale. also the M417. but are there any ready made DMRs or do you have to just construct one as most of these only fire around 330-350fps and most sites allow 400+ for marksman.

so is it a case of just upgrading an AEG or can you buy one?

You can buy DMRs in the same sense you can buy snipers; as per any sniper style rifle, you're still going to need some upgrades to get it shooting well enough to act its role. Especially if you wan't to maintain reliability, consistency and trigger response. Doing it properly is generally going to cost more than a bolt action rifle.

From having one, the G&G M14s work pretty well as DMRs out of the box, 390 fps, fire as fast as you can pull the trigger, good hop unit and spectacularly accurate with .30s but I'd still want more from it, even though it's not particularly necessary. I'd have kept it but the angle of the grip ruined my wrists and the awesome G&P M14 DMR body kit doesn't fit the G&G =[
The Real Sword SVD is probably a good shout as well, but then, they do cost about £700.

The gas M39 EMR is an M14 EBR made by WE and upgraded by RA Tech, they cost about £1000 and I'm not convinced they're even that good. I suspect it's more down to Scout's editing style - 90% of the time targets are probably within 30m, he just chooses to look at everyone from the side, and then cut to a clip of someone being hit 4 hours later at the other side of the game field... It annoys me a lot.

For a basic DMR you just pick a gun, doesn't matter what it is particularly, though something with a V2 gearbox is generally a good shout, why not use an MP5? :P
Upgrade the gears and air nozzle, piston and spring guide, motor and spring - That ought to let you get it shooting around 450ish relatively well, then just experiment with barrels and hops.

If you want to go the whole hog then mosfets, cylinder and cylinder heads and better parts all around come into it as well.

so basically im gonna have to build one??

i thought as much, im very tempted by the VFC m417 as im hearing very good things about it but alot of conflicting reports about the FPS out of the box.

some sites report it as 330 FPS, some youtube reviews say a little higher. some say between 400-450?

you know anything about it?

Some guns are set up to US specs, some for UK/EU, some seem pretty random.

It could be anything in fairness. Be prepared to have to alter it once you get it. I wasn't that impressed with the one I had a go with, I had a G&P M4 that could fire further with greater accuracy and it was half the price.

I've been tempted to get a G&P SAM-R and turn it into a DMR for agggeeeesss.

His video's are garbage, no denying that but don't let that take away from the M14, the WE is brilliant as Tariq will atest. So with the Ra-tech upgrades I can only assume it's even better and will last much longer. However I'm not sure I can see it being worth the £1000 though.

@OP for a DMR you're best off choosing a DMR-ish style rifle and going from there- like sniping as Ed says it'll need upgrading regardless.

Any m14/SR25/G3/Fal style rifle will work- preferably something 7.62 as it's just better :)

Oh yeah, that's what I was saying with the comment about Scout's editing.

This is on my short list once I get my UKARA number. From what I've read the UK ones are downgraded by the retailer. I'm not sure if this is something all retailers do though?
