AK47frizzle
Ok, so before you start to argue, "oh no, there's that guy who is dead set on a sniper rifle and is too stubborn to listen." , *Cough* CaptainDumbass *Cough* Shut up and read. After having a little conversation with Airsoft-Ed, he told me to create a little topic that will gather more info on what's suitable for me. So I did. After reading reviews, comments and all that stuff, being a sniper isn't cut out for me. Lots of £££ for upgrades and being outperformed, plus I could get a lemon. So I decided to get an AEG which is "alright". In 3 weeks time, i'm going on my DofE expedition to the southern Cairngorms. When i return, my mum said she will buy me an airsoft gun that i have been wanting so much for a long time (been begging for a while). So this is kinda like a last chance. Budget is around £150, could push it a little. My initial thoughts are: JG AUG A2 which i found here: http://www.onlybbguns.co.uk/airsoft/airsoft-electric-rifles-pro/au-1g-steyr-jg-aug-1-electric-assault-rifle.html which has a decent two tone colour. This sexy SL8 which is only found here: http://www.onlybbguns.co.uk/airsoft/airsoft-electric-rifles-pro/jg-g36-sniper-jg-g39-airsoft-electric-sniper-rifle-with-bipod.html SInce it has free shipping an a bipod, I could push it to this. Other than that, I have thought of G&G MP5 with blowback is pretty decent. Found some G36c's that are ok, JG, SRC. Seen one SRC XM8 but in hideous orange. What would be best? I prefer it not to be an M4 variant. Something different would be nice.
Ansome Jack
Don't bother with that website, the guns on there aren't that great and you could get something much better and reliable for £150 Here are a few alternatives: http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268&products_id=8503 http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268&products_id=6981 http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268&products_id=7030 http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268&products_id=8004 http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268&products_id=7031 The G36 would be a good alternative to an M4, has plenty of upgrade options, able to take a fore grip, comes in long or short barrel and folding stock. Two-toning is free on Zerone, but you'll need a battery and charger if you buy any of their AEG's
Supporters sp00n Posted June 7, 2013 Supporters Share Posted June 7, 2013 gotta say i am really tempted by the g&g MP5. Ed has one and he rates it, good for CQB and woodland.
TacMaster
£130 will get you a proper Cyma AK, they're damned good from what I've heard. There's also the SRCs you mentioned, however the plastic they make the body with isn't the best in my opinion. The inners are supposed to be good though. Apart from that 2p's worth, there's not that much i can recommend that I've had experience with. my Cyma Mp5's alright, it's seen me through a year or so of mildly heavy play with only 2 parts changed and it was pretty good stock. Supporters Ian_Gere Posted June 8, 2013 Supporters Share Posted June 8, 2013 Don't get that SRC G36K - the scope is only x1 and it doesn't have an illuminated reticle - it's basically useless. I have the SRC G36KV Gen III and I'm very happy with it - you can adjust the stock to fit you and fit a variety of batteries inside it. I'd say that it is worth the extra money to buy the Gen III, over the cheaper Gen II, because you get more standard upgrades than you could buy for that cash difference. You'd need to ask ZeroOne which generation the SRC's are because it doesn't say. JG G36's have a good rep mind, so their XM8/G39/whatever is probably good - it's that website I'd be wary of. There is a thing to note about the gun: it fires @390FPS, which is too hot for a full-auto AEG on any site, but it's also a bit slow for a DMR as the usual limit is 425FPS for AEG's locked off to semi-auto only and some allow 500. You will have to change the spring and probably the hop rubber if you go for 345FPS. If I felt tempted to buy from onlybbguns, I would first email them and say I have reservations because their site looks just like several others which all have a bad reputation and ask what if any guarantees/assurances they can give that the gun is in stock, will arrive within a reasonable time, in good condition, will not give up the ghost in a hand full of skirmishes time, and that if there is anything wrong with it that they will take it back for a full refund including shipping both ways and give the money back promptly. A CYMA AK would be an excellent choice, but I also find myself curiously attracted to that JG AUG too. The two-tone blue doesn't look at all offensive on it, in fact it sort of goes nicely with the futuristic style of it. Never thought I'd say that about any two-tone Something to bear in mind though is that, if you are on a tight budget, you'll want to be able to pick up mags 2nd hand easily. G36, AK47, AK74, and STANAG mags are always for sale either here or on fleabay, but I don't think I've seen more than a handful of ppl selling AUG mags. Oh yeah, and if you do feel tempted to go for the JG G39 Sniper, check 1st that it does take TM compatible G36 mags...

That has put me off slightly.... reminds me of the crappy so called "SVD" but it's just an AK body with an extended barrel and stock...

AK47frizzle
Well spotted. To be fair to JG, they don't say it's an SL8... apparently, the JG AUG's rail doesn't properly fit sights and need modifying... and the battery compartment doesn't fit a 9.6v.... this is starting to be a let down.... And you're saying captaindumbass is not being an arsehole himself? TacMaster
Ahem...what gun did you choose before saying that the captain theoretically killing himself was good? edit: before this turns into a shit slinging match, I'd like to remind you two that among the many things the PM system is used for, that is one of them. gwr3850
Really cant go wrong with a g&g I have. G&G raider CQB. so light and never failed once. Shoots flawlessly, and the blowback. Though they make a different noise to other AEGs because of this so watch videos and see if the noise is ok for you
Hav0c
TBH, get a JG G36C, they're what is used as rental's at my local and they have been running for 3 years with minor repairs to ares such as: Tapet plate, sector gear, softer hop, new inner barrel. And that's it! For 3 f****ing years being used by folk who have never touched an airsoft gun and do not know the meaning of "semi-auto only within 10 metre" and bloody burst fire and pretend full auto each other dry firing in the safe zone! Oh, did I mention they're £130? which means you have £20 left over (if you say you're sticking to your budget of £150) for possible a foregrip or even a new hop? Hope this helps
AK47frizzle
anyways... i'm going for the G&G GR4 GR26. Nicely styled with those MOE-like parts. The stock weapon should be enough to last. Although I will get a tightbore for it later on. http://www.airsoftworld.net/gandg-gr4-gr26-magpul-styled-m4-combat-machine-two-tone.html
