im more interested in milsim anyway!

I know as much about airsoft as any paintballer would ! (none)

but enough of the slander !

im looking for an m14 or an m4 carbine with a glock or m9 side arm.

im looking for decent quality !

I wanted to get a feel on what you guys would recommend ?

would second hand be advisable ?

Thanks,

Blackhawkk

Welcome to AF-UK and airsoft, the bottomless hole of money...

Lol. Well at least you don't have to spend £60 on 100 BBs. £12 for 5000 :D

£200 will get you a decent rifle, but to get a realistic one (full black) you'll have to go on 3 skirmishes within 2 months (1 at the start, 1 at the end and 1 inbetween). This is known as acheiving UKARA status, where you'll be registered on a national database which retailers use to sell you guns. Likewise for a realistic sidearm, although just registering once will cover any gun you buy 'til the registration runs out. As for kit, a decent pair of boots and good face protection is a must, although you've probably got that already! :D

Second hand should offer better value for money, but there's little or no comeback. I've bought second hand and picked up some bargains and I've also ended up with items which needed some work on them. This might not even be down to the seller - these things don't last for ever (nothing does) and a seller might have taken a gun out last time with it giving them no problems at all only for it to self destruct the first time you use it.

Check out the classifieds section, although I've noticed that prices swing wildly. Sometimes it seems like people want too much for anything for months on end then all of a sudden there will e a streak of absolute steals on offer......

I've had 1 lemon and 1 darling 2nd hand guns. I actually paid a lot more for the lemon :D ho hum, one of these days I'll be able to afford to get it fixed, because it's beyond me!

For your first AEG I think it's probably best to buy new, because if it does go wrong you'll have little to no idea what is wrong with it. You could do what I did which was to buy a cheap new gun (which turned to be 'kin excellent) and take it to bits straight away, in the full knowledge that i would either learn how it worked well enough to tinker with it myself or it would be fcuked. As it happens I did learn, but I fcuked it up eventually by dismantling and reassembling it once too often for the plastic parts which accept steel screws. Still, even if i never bother to sort it out, I'll have only lost £125.

If you can't be persuaded to try a variety of assault rifles and see what suits your body shape best, or be persuaded that carrying standard Yank weapons has been done to death and beyond, you're probably best off with a G&G CM16 Raider. You don't need a sidearm at all really but if you cannot be persuaded to get more use out of your £100 by spending it on mags and/or upgrades for your primary weapon, i suspect that you may be better buying 2nd hand, because good non blowback NBB pistols don't usually cost more than about £60-65 new and good new GBB gas blowback pistols seem to cost more like £130-170 - i'm not certain of this but i think that, new, the middle ground is likely to contain the good-but-unreliable and/or overpriced junk. Pistols change hands amongst airsofters quite a lot however so you'll probably be able to get one from a regular at your local site, in which case it'll probably not be a rip off.

Hello mate...welcome to the forums....yours is the second padded cell on the left!

im going to suggest the G & G brand of rifles for that sort of money

I recently bought one after getting into airsoft in January.

The gearboxes are rock solid, the body is nylon fibre (mine came with a metal ris rail...some dont),it all fits well, doesn't creak or give, the controls are solid and positive, and g&g are increasing there range of guns monthly.

you can get anything from an m4,m16,g36,ak's and even mp5's if that tickles ya!

hope you find what your looking for!

:-)

Yeah, as two other people have said above, go with the G&G Combat machine series. For the price they are amazing and you will be able to find lots of information online due to their popularity.

I'd be tempted to not bother with the side arm. Spend the money saved on a better quality rifle or accessories, then once you've toa f ew fights under your belt and are comfortable with the rifle splash out on a pistol.

It's like a marshal at my site said, unless you're going for the sniper role, a sidearm isn't particularly necessary. As long as you buy a solid AEG you should get through a day's skirmishing. ;)
