xiJamesss
Bassically the title says it all, is it good to have a spotter for a sniper? And is it best for them to have a shotgun, smg, gas pistol, anything?!
Supporters TPI Posted May 3, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 3, 2012 not in your traditionall skirmish becuase more than one sniper in a skirmish is pointless however if your doing a MilSim It`ll help you to have a bit of backup that`s not sqaud sized
xiJamesss
ohh ok, and not exactly as a spotter tho, i mean yeh he is my extra set of eyes, but cos most skirmish sites minimum is 30 meters or you cant shoot them, so he has a gun to shoot for me when they get close? craig
for a milsim as said above its good to have a spotter with a aeg m4 ect but for a normal day its best for the sniper to get lost near the enemy and shot away
Supporters M_P Posted May 3, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 3, 2012 Only in a Muslim as said or occasional at large sites where the sniper is actually playing as a sniper. Most of the time in airsoft its not worth the hassle of the extra person. As for.engagements inside the MED, use a pistol lol
joshcowin
Spotters are helpful on milsim days as you have extra firepower if you need it.but on a game day they can be a hinderense as you dont know where the rest of the team are and could end up in friendly fire
The Leprechaun!
In the 3 years I've been skirmishing, I've never seen a sniper/spotter combination, almost all snipers go 'lone wolf', especially if there is thick vegetation at the site for them to hide/sneak about. Also, if there are two of you there is more chance of being spotted, so its probably not a good idea either, and as said before with the MED just carry a back-up (ive seen snipers roll from Glock 23s to M4s strapped on their back for closer quaters!! ). Tbh a pistol would suffice, if there's more enemies then you can take on then running away might be the best plan
xiJamesss
Cheers for all your replys! i was thinking - if i dont have a spotter, but have my mate (who was gonna be the spotter) to know where i am so they can stay in a sorta 'far away cover' spot? also i have an aeg to chuck on my back if i need to :L
Supporters Liam Porter Posted May 4, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 4, 2012 I don't really have a spotter as such when I sniper, but I always go in either a pair with a mate who's also sniping. We don't tend to snipe as you're supposed to though, more of a front-line kinda style. Forces the enemy back most of the time, also, if we didn't push up sometimes the whole team would probably end up sat in the same place throughout the whole game. Sometimes, we'll flank, one taking each side, keeping in contact with a radio. Also sometimes have a few people with AEGs with us, so we have a small 5 man squad. Tends to be pretty good with the three AEGs moving up and then the two snipers offering support where it's needed.

It depends what you like do you like being a lone wolf or would you prefer a spotter who can lay down suppresing fire whilst you make a quick reload
G-Force
I know people who have used spotters quite well in milsims, but not much point in most skirmishes. It can help to have an extra guy with the sniper since a lot of a time the sniper will be looking down his scope whilst the spotter can look around. MZKaleem
Only in a Muslim as said or occasional at large sites... What you smoking Marksman, there are no spotters inside me, stupid infidel. But need I repeat it? When I actually decide to use my sniper rifle ( I haven't yet...) then I'll probably piss off on my own but I have a Glock which i carry with me and that came with a good stock rubber and barrel.
