zombie apocalypse.....would your gun do the job!?
Happy replied to Pointman PUG's topic in General Discussion
A tank till you can't move because it's damn heavy haha. The zombies wouldn't kill you but dehydration would - especially if they cornered you -
zombie apocalypse.....would your gun do the job!?

Canned food for zombies right there mate! Tried plate armour on at a history fair - was really dehydrated after 5 mins (it was a warm day mind). I couldn't imagine how bad a state someone unused to moving in it would be when fighting in plate armour. You're better off with a gambeson as protection if you raid a museum for armour. As for the sword it will probably need sharpening. You'd be better off sticking to modern things like a sledgehammer/machete/woodcutters axe which can be found more readily (I have two of these in my shed alone) and won't need the maintenance a sword would from the off. Personally I'd board up my house (easily achieved) and then wait for the majority of people to flee town (hopefully drawing away the majority of zombies since they'd "follow the food") and then go scavenging in the local area. Fair amount of rabbits/fishing spots locally but that's a secondary option since I'm naff at fishing/trapping. -
Mine is based on what weapons I have and if something strikes my interest that matches said weapons. This means I have a lot more kit than I do weaponry haha! So far I have the following loadouts under construction: - Generic multicam/MTP special forces soldier. - Jungle fighter (Close Quarters). - Army of Two/Mercenary. - Metro 2033/S.T.A.L.K.E.R./Apocalypse survivor loadout. - USSR/Eastern Bloc Tank Crew Member (1980s era). Most of mine are inspired by games I'll admit, but I do dabble in "period accurate" loadouts from time to time. Most are Russian inspired in my case as they are not seen around much.

Depends on how it looks with the rest of the gun, but yeah the barrel seems too "new" now

Personally I'd go for the propper since it saves you a bit and both look to be near enough the same quality (from reading the descriptions/looking at photos). £7 is very low postage from the US though. I'd double check if it includes any customs charges you may incur (some sellers do this through a third party).

Welcome to the forum mate! Don't be afraid to ask us questions - we all were new once haha

I've just started doing airsoft on youtube

This. If it's honest opinion based on experience then you'll get a lot of different answers off people. For example the best pistol I've ever owned was a KWA CZ75 - it was efficient (due to it's NS2 gas system), shot at 320 fps, full metal and had excellent accuracy. The TM hi cappa range are brilliant guns if you want something reliable and upgradable since there are tons of aftermarket parts for them. But it is down to what you want from a pistol to decide whether it's "the best".

A shotgun of some description is always good as a back up. You could try a JG Skorpion aep - surprisingly good little gun and will set you back just £90.
-
Second vote for the TM Scar. The recoil range are brilliant guns that are worth the extra cash - solid, long lasting and a lot of fun to shoot.

Cyma aks are good but need a spring downgrade to be legal at most sites since they shoot at 370 out of the box. G&G do an AK that's okay, but the cyma is a lot more solid. Here's the G&G: http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268_318_403_494&products_id=5646

This. Though I don't want to derail the thread into a "why not to buy a pistol yet" debate. Anyway, glad you enjoyed your first game mate. Might have missed you mention it but which site was that? Edit: Never mind. You did mention it haha

review on G&G cm16 carbine (cheap airsoft starter gun!)
Happy replied to team flex's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Also most guns are a negative thread (counter clockwise) to tighten. It's more unusual to find a positive thread on a gun barrel -
My sympathies mate. My other half made me cut down the number of rifles I had (hence why I had a few for sale threads). She didn't say ought about pistols though

Any Aug owners out there? Advice on barrel swap
Happy replied to <M.o.M>Spanner's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
^This. Aug parts are few and far between. I'd personally try and find a springer with the look you like and salvage it off that if at all possible like you suggested. Unless you're confident enough with getting it machined of course. -

http://www.evike.com/ordering-info/ They offer a two tone service for RIFs coming into the UK. I gather it's much like shipping from Poland/Hong Kong/etc. that you need to get the retailer to clearly write both your UKARA number and a contact phone number on the packaging to stop customs instantly destroying it if you want a black RIF.

Stick to the M16 and boonie like ronin suggested, though a Remington 870 style shotgun (e.g. Maruzen/ACM CA870) wouldn't look out of place if you wanted a shorter weapon for CQB/point man loadouts. Sidearm could be the venerable 1911 but a privately brought revolver would be period accurate as well. For camo it's personal preference so long as you stick to at most two of those colours. I'd go for OD boonie hat and shirt with tiger stripe trousers since it looks great (in my opinion) when combined with the webbing. Soldiers in 'Nam often switched kit and clothing around so there's no reason why you couldn't either. It depends on how authentic you want your loadout, but as long as you stick to the issued webbing, colours and weapons you won't be far off.

Last airsoft purchase of the month for me: A CQB mount base for my Maruzen CA870 shotgun

An MTP "commander" panel that I intend to use the back pouch as a more secure dump pouch = £15 3x new sa80 MTP magazine pouches = £15 (£5 each) Off seller on eBay

CO2 weapons are a lot more fun to shoot in my opinion, so they get my vote. If you want it to skirmish with though I'd get green gas since like Tac said some sites have a blanket ban on them due to their high velocity.
-
Decent footwear? Unless you're classing that as clothing. WE have gotten better at making gas pistols - their earlier models were prone to developing issues. That said, sidearms are a personal preference really. If you use it regularly then spend that much on it, if not (like most people) then I'd either save the cash or buy something cheaper that does the job. You can pick up decent used sidearms for next to nothing (there's a few on the for sale forum here) which can be easily two toned by spraying the slide.
-
Done properly it looks brilliant. Done wrong and it looks like you got dunked in a pot of dulux "camo special" I don't use it since I wear full face protection, but I can see why others would want to (even if you look like a tw*t doing so).

For the price they seem reasonable enough. I think JT make masks for paintball so it should be strong enough for airsoft sites to a degree. CQB settings at least should be fine but I would be more weary at games that allow snipers (running ~500 fps at full tilt). Off topic: missed you pointing out no "skull" style masks. My bad haha
