Iron Airsoft Lee Enfield No. 1 MkIII*

Reason: Just look at it!! I got told off by a marshall on my last skirmish 'cos my gun was too pretty to skirmish with. I took Matilda (my one of these) to a re-enactment event, even re-enactors were in awe.

SMLE=Length and Girth. Also it looks a bit mottled and grey, you should get that checked out at an SVD clinic

You tend to meet the best sort of players in WW2 games. Last game I went to, our squad was trying to keep the right flank of the other British squad safe and they were taking fire from their left flank (where the Americans should have been). We therefore swung round to outflank the Germans on the right. A head pops out of a bush right by us and asks us very politely if we wouldn't mind not trying to outflank them as the German side had a few people drop out due to illness and gun malfunctions.
a ). He could have taken us all out as we hadn't seen him.
b ). In what other type of airsoft game would such a request be considered
c ). Why can't the Americans stick to the plan?

I have 2 Helmets. A steel tankers helmet, which I plan one day to fully convert to an airborne helmet. It's heavy and the 2 point chin strap makes it feel rather unstable. It will be great once it has the 4 point leather chin strap. I also have a cheap Resin Brodie helmet

For £8 it's a surprisingly good match for the real thing and is much lighter. It lacks a liner so I tied netting over it with the 4 corners tied to create a cushion for my head. It works great.
I'm more of a hat person really. Boonies are great but on a hot sunny day, you can't beat a slouch hat

Russe11 got a reaction from cavninja in Inconsistency?....Help?!
FPS will depend upon the following factors:
Gas pressure (depends on the temperature)
Release valve: Stronger spring means it will depress less lowering fps, it may also be stiffer at the beginning of the day. Keep it well lubed.
Hammer/firing pin or whatever you want to call it: Keep it well lubed as how hard it hits the release valve will also affect fps.

I am fortunate in that my gas powered SMLE is bolt action and therefore a lot simpler, but it was very inconsistent out of the box. In fact it was so inconsistent that sometimes it wouldn't shoot if it was too warm as the gas pressure would prevent the firing pin from depressing the release valve enough. The solution was to add washers to the spring on the firing pin so that the release valve is hit much harder. This increases the fps and at the same time makes for greater consistency.

Green or Brown work okay. Unless you're a patient sneaky bastard, movement will give you away long before the lack of camo will.

I have one of these, very good for the money. Only gripe is the webbing strap belt is a bit short.

Do not fear webbing. Webbing is your friend
Tacticool vests, plate carriers etc. are more customisable but webbing can be customised a fair bit too. The difference is that webbing doesn't get as hot when you run around. I have a molle tactical vest, I much prefer webbing. Once you have it adjusted to fit you, it's much more comfortable. That said, a battle belt and Yoke is webbing, you have been tricked! Muahaha etc.

Who cares whether he made it himself? If he has lots of questions then this is a good idea.

Customs wise, it can be as little as a few hours, or it could be a long wait. You then have to wait for the courier to send you a bill for any fees, duty and tax. Then they will deliver once that is paid.

Most sites are happy if you have an accompanying adult. I have seen some young players at Spartan airsoft, which is up near Bristol Airport. Bristol Airsoft does under 18's games on a Friday evening.

Okay, first thing, you do not want any gun that costs under £80, it will break and will not be capable of hitting anyone at a decent range.
Secondly, as you are under 16, most sites will require an adult to play with you. This means you pretty much have to persuade a parent or other family member to take up airsoft. You may as well therefore wait for that adult to get UKARA registered (2 months from the 1st game with 3 games played at the same site) and then get them to buy you a non 2 toned gun.
Ignore the sidearm, no-one needs a sidearm and put all the money into a decent main weapon. If you really want a ww2 weapon, then when a parent has sorted out UKARA it will be possible to import one from Poland without any issues.

Otherwise look at something like a G&G combat machine.
The difference between the 2 is vast. The G&G combat machines are very good beginners guns, they are well made and shoot well. They are made of good quality plastic that can take a lot of punishment and the internals are good quality. They are modern guns so you can add sights and other accessories easily. The ASG sten (AGM if bought outside the UK) is not really a beginners gun, it has no fire selector or safety, so you have to not pull the trigger by accident. It is made of steel so if you drop it, it will break your toes not the gun and it shoots really well (they are so good the German players complain about them being too good). You are stuck with just ironsights and because they are full auto only you cannot use them indoors (there is a way around this by using a burstwizard mosfet, which is a tiny circuit board you plug in between the battery and the gun).

Judging by your posts, avatar and PM's I think this is what you're after:

ASG Sten Mk2, Belgian Denison smock, Denim battledress, P37 webbing and anklets...

My Favourite though is my Aussie gear, similar but with this jacket and hat

plus a gas mask bag, tan boots and using my SMLE

    OR
The hat with green shirt, US HBT trousers, M1938 lace up gaiters, P37 webbing, SMLE or Sten for a late war jungle look.

Russe11 got a reaction from JamesAirsofterAgent in How do you feel after a game day?
If it's a WW2 game, I will be knackered from the game, hungover from the post game social and tired from not sleeping well in my tent, which you can guarantee I pitched on top of some hidden rock. I then have to get home by train carrying everything before dumping everything in a pile and falling into bed.
By comparison, a normal skirmish is easy. The last one I did, I had a 15 mile cycle to get there, having gotten up at 5am. I was carrying a Lee Enfield and a sten (2 rather heavy guns). Did a day's skirmish in blistering heat, then cycled to the nearest train station (about 5 miles). Everyone else was complaining they were knackered from the skirmish!
I don't really worry about what I could have done better, for me its about having fun. I just find that I'm in a good mood for a few days after a game.

    My standard gear:
Pattern 37 webbing, which I wear.
Lee Enfield in a canvas Valise bag
Sten with stock removed fits in a large P37 pack
Ammo, speedloaders and sten mags fit in P37 webbing pouches (possibly chocolate as well).
2 pairs of goggles, gas, 3 batteries for the Sten (it burns through batteries) in small P37 pack (inside Large pack for a skirmish or worn with a shoulder strap if taking camping gear)

    Camping gear for WW2 games:
Foam Mat, sleeping bag and Goretex bivvi bag all rolled up together ( I used to take a tent but this saves space and weight).
    Mini Trangia + meths
    Coffee, milk and sugar
    Enamel mug
Spare socks (I can handle 2-3 days in the same clothes but clean socks are a must)
Tins of spam and oatcakes for lunch break
    Bacon and bread for breakfast
BEER! (last game I carried a small keg to the game, I was popular)
    Hurricane lamp + Parafin

I have to be able to carry all this, to and from stations or whilst riding a bike. It does however give an idea of what it would be like for an actual soldier in WW2 when on the move.

During the game, I will carry 1 gun, sten mags if I'm using the sten, speedloaders pyros and possibly chocolate in my webbing; spare goggles, gas and ammo in small pack. If I wear a gas mask bag, ammo and speed loaders go in it for faster access.

Evike are good. Only worth the hassle buying from them if you can't get something from anywhere outside the US. It's just so much hassle with customs charges etc.
