Whats the best way to stop your goggles from Fogging?

How about clear polycarbonate mesh, like the hero shark stuff but polycarbonate. Hmmm, need a good designer to give it a go. -
Whats the best way to stop your goggles from Fogging?

Just to point out CatCrap is a type of antifogging you can buy not actual cat faeces. As for the things that work/don't work, pretty much everyone on the forums that uses goggles will have tried many of the stuff on the list, between us all they have probably been tested extensively and the main point is that as far as I can tell nothing actually stops it from happening it simply delays how long till it happens. That includes using fans like those chromatosphere ( ugh cant use the p word) guys use. Or just go for mesh, if you wear glasses maybe try contacts just for game days perhaps. It cuts out that issue altogether. If you solve the problem let us know so we can all do it! -
Cheers all have an x3200 on the way now.

Yeah I've seen vids and reviews saying the madbull chrono's give funky readings after about 2 or 3 months use. Giving the same FPS exactly everytime or way high/way low. Then there are the ones from HK that aren't even branded externally as madbull but the seller says they are followed by things like "its like 100% genuine yo". That's the international signal for something fishy going on.

Sounds great thanks, Have seen the X3200 on fleabay but was a little worried about them, the alternative was the small ones that attach to the barrel for Air rifles anyone know if they work? Like this one ( might need to copy the link into bar) http://www.airgunbuyer.com/details.asp?cat=Chronographs&SubCat=Shooting Chrony Chronographs&Product=3047

I'm moving more into sniping and starting to tinker more and more with my guns at home, but this is inevitably followed by worrying that they will be over the site limits when I get to a game, then 20 mins at the start of the day once its been chrono'd fiddling the gun to get the fps either up or down for the site limits. So I'm thinking of investing in my own chrono. There are plenty of brands like the Madbull ones and Fidragon, question is are there some to avoid? I haven't got a huge budget and this will be to mostly reassure myself that I wont have to do a ton of work at the game site when I arrive so I'm looking Sub £60 realistically but I don't want to end up buying a lemon. Could those with chrono's please point me in the right direction please? Thanks.

After some advice about starting a new site! :D
NickM replied to WAH64_Man's topic in New Players & Arrivals
The MOD sites I've heard of being used are, Sennybridge, Copehill and Rype Village Lydd. There are probably more. However. Almost every one of the events at these sites that I know of in the last 2 years of airsofting have been changed either date or location at some point from their being advertised and eventually run. The MOD takes precedence on any of their land, understandably, but what it does mean is that the organisers end up having a headache and they potentially lose business. I've just had to pull out from the BritTac event because of the distance. I'm happy to travel to events, if they are really good/unique, but they can't be every month, it would be a once or maybe even twice a year thing for me. And for a really special event I'll pay more than the average skirmish price. For example about 4 times in the last 6 months I have made a 1.45 hr round trip from where I live to UCAP the sandpit, when I'm there I pay £10 more than the average day skirmish price at my local. £20, Average skirmish (probably go once a month, maybe twice if there weren't plans to go somewhere better) I would expect: no lunch (can buy if I want it), short interesting games (1hr max) a total blat fest from most of the people there many players using high caps many players not using proper teamwork or tactics of any kind, while I try to be a bit more tactical A free battery charge available some interesting structures/terrain to play around. Probably about 30-50 players. A significant number of unaccompanied teens, some play well, others really haven't got a clue and occasionally some can be a pain. Two tone guns in evidence, (this really spoils a game for me, you might as well have a neon sign saying "here I am shoot me") Maybe 2 or 3 marshals. Some standing around while the next games are organised. £30-40, UCAP/Special skirmish ( possibly once a month because it is a bit of a drive for me), Lunch included (price dependant, UCAP do a pretty good lunch for the £30), Interesting props-- eg UCAP - WMIK's (they provide the ammo and fuel) with a mounted 50cal and 249. Occasionally they rock a para mortar unit that can be deployed and fired by players under marshal supervision, pyro supplied by them. The WMIK also has a triple mortar unit. Longer games which are new to me ideally (UCAP seem to run enough different games that in the 6 or 7 times I've been have never been repeated). Players working in organised teams with a basic understanding/use of tactics. Many players using midcaps, lots of comms in action. 100 or more players, many coming in large teams already. No Two tone AMAZING! Teens with guardians that are as good or better than the adults (behaviour and skill wise) Slick gaming. A large team of marshals ( sometimes 10 or more) For a milsim weekend at a really interesting site I would drive probably 2-3 hrs each way, and pay up to £100. I would expect some seriously good gaming though for that money. Great scenarios that are believable, immersive and involve some serious challenges. Although I'm not in the military so I don't expect realistic time scales or to spend hours on stag, I'm there for some really good shooting. I know of one Milsim events has used an afghani style village the MOD have built, they even had a Civilian population of market traders with stalls and everything, cant remember who though. -
As Simon said. Unfortunately, 9mm blanks in BFG's are the wrong shape for 9mm mags. I've seen people using speed strips but finding them has sometimes been a problem. Very much liking the thing Hero shark have some up with, I'd had that as an idea but not the skill/ability to make it so had to give up on it. Will see if they produce it because I'd get one. Simon where did you find the speed strips, I'd be keen if I can find them in the UK/EU

Some people chuck them in a pocket and they roll around others are looking for something a bit more secure. I made myself a small carrier out of a mini Maglite box I had laying around and a piece of sponge. While trawling ebay for an ammo box of the .50 Cal type for transporting my hot burning pyro I found some plastic boxes made by a company in the states. Available for £9.95 with free postage. http://www.fishpond.co.uk/Sports_Outdoors/MTM-18-Rounds-9MM-Cal-Case-Gard-Ammo-Wallet/0026057100166

I got my ASG Mk23 from here http://www.airsoftarmoury.co.uk/acatalog/ASG-Mk23-Assassin-203.html out of stock at the moment but at £49.99 the best price I found.

Liking the use of a plaster float as a handle! That's proper DIY, some sites allow it others don't it depends on the game and how they are feeling. Perhaps you need to be happy to lend it out if the game is reversed.

Can you let me know how the adapter works, I might have to get in on that action. But might see if they do a 9mm adapter.

On a quest for a good video of electrolysis of Lead Bromide (I'm a science teacher and doing it for real would be pretty horrible) I ended up on a video explaining how alkali water is better for you than acids, there was so much wrong I struggled to know where to start but I couldn't let it stay there without saying something. It didn't help that they were trying to test the pH with Iodine which as far as I know and I did search for it just incase does not give any results for pH. Ben Goldacre is my Nerd hero, if only I could do it professionally.

Shit Ian if your responses to stuff are you drugged to the eyeballs I'd hate to go up against you in a debate when you are drug free!

I did something simmilar with an old black sock, those thin plain black ones that people wear for school work well and a coke bottle. I've also got a home made funnel made from 2 Fanta lids that had the insides of the tops removed and then glued together top to top, this allows me to screw it onto the top of my coke bottle making a handy filling funnel for decanting bbs into the sock. I don't like the blaster bottle tops as they do what Ian says in his post. But coke bottles have to be able to withstand a great deal of pressure. I've not had major feeding blockages with coke bottles either as the coke bottle has a really nice smooth cone shape.

The reflective tape that they use for high vis jackets works really well one of the marshals at the site uses it on everything, then just goes back in the dark with a high powered torch. It flashes in the undergrowth and makes finding it really easily. Alternatively use a 2 or 3 ft piece of brightly coloured ribbon, I used to do that with my RC Aeroplane batteries for when I crashed ( this happened a lot) Basically a 2 m length of 1inch wide lime green ribbon on the battery so when it flew through the nose of the plane it would trail after the battery, when it landed in a bush the ribbon would be light enough that it would sit on the top of the bushes and branches and allow me to trace the battery to where it landed. That might be a bit extreme but something similar might work.

Whats the worst experience with 'Cod Softers'
NickM replied to Lord_Metile's topic in General Discussion
Oh Gawd yeah that! That pisses me right off, there are times when I am loud and there are very good reasons for that, I call out targets I spot that others miss especially when I know I haven't got the sight lines for them. Sometimes I do it when I'm totally on my own just to make the opposition think I'm a bigger group worked quite nicely yesterday. But you don't go noisy until there is no doubt they know you are there. That's when aggression and noise can help cause confusion. I think those headsets they use make them think they can chat away while trying to move through an area as they forget those are simulating radio's in the real world. But then again its not just gamers that do that. I was playing a VIP game with 4 teens that had met through cadets, I was with a german guy ( ex german army Sargent) and these 4 trying to make our way from one end of the site to another, they didn't understand being quiet, or that sticks/leaves/bushes crackle and not to touch them. Safe to say myself and the german lasted a lot longer than those 4. Very frustrating. My favourite saying from a friend of mine.... "common sense is not so common". -
I'm waiting for it to stop feeling like a pilot episode. I realise the humour is in the clichés but it there is far more they could probably get out of the situation. I did think the camo was a bit wrong, looked far too green in my eyes but don't know enough to recognise the difference. All in, I think its a good premise and I look forward to more.

Cheers Ed, I have started using .25 already and I've really noticed a difference. I'm planning on going with many of your internal mods as you and Finius have obviously been doing this for a while. The 510 TK barrel is the almost the same price as many of the 6.03 ones I've seen and if you are both running it and have used tightbores there must be a reason for you having it. I do remember seeing something you wrote about the TK barrel being hard to fit into the brackets in the gun, have you used barrel spacers or simply electrical tape and did you need to modify anything to get it to fit? Thanks for the advice.

Well I've skirmished my L85 twice now and I’ve finally managed to get it chrono'd. It’s totally stock and now I’m wanting to get started on improvements. Current niggles, stock spring on M setting 275-280 on High 290, this was a bit disappointing. On auto before lunch I would get 4 or 5 shots on auto fine then the next 3-4 seemed to trickle out of the barrel, this didn’t happen on semi or after lunch (I didn’t do anything). My fire selector often passes beyond the marks when this happens on semi it stops firing. Bonus I don’t seem to be getting the over hop issues or double feed others were getting. I realise Finius and Ed have both posted up guide to their setups but as you have now had a time to tweak stuff I would like to condense the current upgrades to this gun and get some ideas for how to fix some problems. Specifically what are you using for the following parts: Spring (can you give a rough idea a spring that will give 340 on the mid setting without playing with the nozzle) Barrel (brand, bore and length please, Ed I remember you talking about several different ones and even saying you were going to go to a tight bore from the twist) Hop rubber and nub Finally I’m after a decent set of mid-caps the bigger the better. Sorry for the long post, cheers for getting this far. Nick
