ICS M4A1, Installing a Madbull DD Omega 12in Rail?
NickM replied to NickM's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Thanks Hibernator, have found one in HK for $20 so will pick one up and let my friend know I'll have his rail system. -
Gunman do a series called "flying lead" is a western themed game series. Although there is very little shooting, its more like re-enacting or a film sim. You have characters that have jobs, earn money have roles to play in the town etc. They can camp in period tents or rent rooms in the saloon.

ICS M4A1, Installing a Madbull DD Omega 12in Rail?
NickM replied to NickM's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
On a side note do you know what the thread size and direction is for the Flash hider, I'm thinking of adding a suppressor just for fun but have no idea how to work it out. The US forums seem to be saying 14mm negative, does that me CW or CCW? -
ICS M4A1, Installing a Madbull DD Omega 12in Rail?
NickM replied to NickM's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Cheers Hibernator I'm a little wary of taking anything off the barrel as there doesn't appear to be anything much holding the barrel in place but the delta ring that is on currently. Having now had a good look at it, under the wings as you put it there is collar that obviously is held in place by the delta nut arrangement. But if I got one of these delta rings for the G&P from say ehobbyasia http://shop.ehobyasia.com/madbull-dd-rail-barrel-nut-for-gandp-metal-m4-reciever.html#.U6_lE-lOXVJ that should have the right thread to go onto the upper receiver of my ICS without having to rethread the receiver. Then just file down those metal wings and I'm good to go. Cheers NickM -
So I have been offered a Madbull DD Omega rail 12" at a very reasonable price by a friend, and I have been wanting to put a rail system on my ICS M4A1 long anyway the problem is I believe they use a proprietary design for their handguards which makes it difficult to know if it will fit. Basically the barrel is held into the gun by the Delta ring being screwed into the gun. So has anyone done it.... is it possible, what parts would I need if I was going to attempt it?

Bags...what are you guys carting your stuff about in
NickM replied to Black Death's topic in General Discussion
If you are referring to the question in my comment, it was genuine, I'm curious about where your forum name has come from. Having reread what was posted I don't think you were being patronised, its a simple thing some people do not realise when taking their gun from home to car and car to home, at most skirmish sites it really isn't a problem how it comes out of the car. Just wouldn't want your neighbours calling the armed response unit down. The reason for my response was I have ICS guns, some come in boxes with 1:1 scale images of the guns on the front which would freak out some people. I know others come in plain boxes. -

No Lord_Metile ( was it supposed to be Metal?) I think the question was about the box you are carrying, does it have a picture or say gun on it. A proper gun bag would be top of the list, followed by a large unmarked bag, and way down the bottom would be "original box" without being covered only slightly above rocking the gun out in the open. Some people cover the box eg black paint or black card so it cant be seen. -
I have wondered about vac forming as an option for this, just not sure if its strong enough.

I use a 100L mountain equipment wet and dry bag. Its great and has been on holidays, airsoft, milsims all sorts. Comes with two rucksack straps and the normal shoulder straps and handles. Cheapest I've found them is Cotswolds outdoors, they do many colours and from time to time have quite a significant sale, I think I got mine for £40 a few years back RRP £100. -
Just a suggestion, google your local sites, there are a few in Scotland and if they have a forum post there, alternatively there might be someone who could pop round, or you could go to who would verify they work. For someone with charged batteries it would probably take about 5 mins to test fire and chrono all of them. You would get more for each if you sold them individually.

My motivation for a load out has been, what I had laying around or was cheap really, I had a set of woodland DPM from cadets, a set of DDPM can be picked up for close to £30 in some places. I don't like to fit a particular theme, I haven't earned a PJ badge, hell I haven't even got a scouts badge. I just go for what fits, is cheap and is comfortable. My Plate carrier for example is an OD Viper molle vest with cummerbund it came second hand off ebay with all the pouches I would need. Over time I have replaced some and modified others. It works for me but others might not like it that much. Its so fitted and I don't want to mess with it that I put it on over my head and wriggle into it rather than undo it every time. It is a little heavy but so am I so I don't notice it on the average skirmish, only on a weekender can it sometimes get a little heavy. I say try stuff and see what you like. Some go for stuff that is unique or more uncommon some join teams that have particular styles. Maybe don't go spending load till you know if you will join a team and if they have a loadout.

any ideas about ULTIMATE WARGAMES limpsfield
NickM replied to team flex's topic in General Discussion
Ultimate wargames...... where do I start.... Limpsfield is small, games can be intense, for a one or two games a year thing you will probably have fun. There are many under 18's that play and a few older regulars. There is a small team of staff and some of the regulars will act as player marshals they are a good bunch. Expect somewhere in the region of 20 and 30 ish players on a normal day. As for what you get, a days play for £20, a fairly watertight shed/unit that you can put your kit in. Access to their structures which have mostly been built/updated by now ex regular players. The onsite shop can be hit and miss, sometimes they have ammo and pyro other days they don't have anything. It's also not a fantastic price for ammo. I'd def recommend bringing enough of your own for a days fast paced blat fest. Games tend to be more on the speedball end of the spectrum short, sharp and intense. They tend to stick to the same collection of games every time and in roughly the same order hence probably not using it as a regular game day. Lunch and snacks can be purchased separately during the day. Rentals were £40 for the day, you got 1000bb's, gun, a mag, a set of DPM combats and lunch (a burger and can of soft drink). Personally I've played there and enjoyed it, mostly because I got on with the players but I've had enough and moved on. I now play UCAP Sandpit which is an hour and half each way from my house as I enjoy the more tactical style of play and the effort they put in to change things up, their investing in props and kit, how many other sites do you know of that will rock a WMIK with .50Cal and a GPMG with site ammo and a mortar again site ammo. Its £30 but lunch is included, normally a hot dog, baked beans, nachos and cheese. Limpsfield is 45 mins each way and £20. That might tell you something about my view of Limps. One of my team mates lives 5 mins away from UW Limps and he prefers UCAP Sandpit a 45min drive for him. Give it a go, and if you like it go back, if you don't you have had a days play. If you are quick to get ready then turn up about 9 ish and you wont miss any game play. -
UCAP run a pretty good skirmish day and have a milsim coming up on the 11th of july weekend. Its at the Sandpit, next to Bluewater in Kent. Stirling use their sites. Gunman have a fantastic reputation and loads of sites, their regular weekends are pretty much along the milsim line, there is limited ammo etc. They also do stuff that is far more about getting into a character. They do a series called flying lead, based on a wild west town, players build up their characters over games have "jobs" etc. They do WWII as well and that is just the tip of the iceberg. It really depends on what you are after, most cut out the standing on guard duty bit out although from what I have heard sometimes Stirling do do that stuff.
-
By reusable they are probably referring to those people using them for accuracy competitions not in actual games.
-
Not what you want to hear I'm sure but I ordered from him about 10 months ago, service was fantastic, items arrived within 2 days of placing the order and I hadn't selected for any kind of special delivery just went with whatever it was they use as standard.

Personally not wanting teeth shot out I wear a half face mask with my mesh Eyepro so the upshot is that very little of my face is actually on show which makes using cam cream totally pointless. However if I was going down the sniper route and not bothering with the half face (highly unlikely, well a possibility if playing a milsim) then I probably would think about getting my cam cream out. Just make sure you have lots of babywipes handy they get it off brilliantly.

Cheers for the advice, 2mm it is. Found a vac bag method which saves having to find and build a press using wood and foam.

As it says on the tin, looking to make a few holsters, one for a Glock18 AEP and the second for a Mk23 Socom, I have decided I'm tired of the viper ones not working very well, I want something more secure. Now mostly on the interweb I'm getting info suggesting that 2mm is the correct thickness but... that's mostly for real pistols and I have a sneaky feeling that airsoft guns are far lighter so maybe that is thicker than I need. Anyone make holsters and mind telling me what they use?

Moving to Canada for a year, can i take my airsoft gear?
NickM replied to smileym89's topic in General Discussion
Now here is a crazy idea why not buy a new set while you are over there? The you can come back with a second setup. Prices might be better over there and you might be able to access different bits. -
Their night games are on the filmsim spectrum or maybe soft milsim, medic rules apply ( bleed out times are quite strict, if hit you remain in your position calling for a medic for a set length of time, normally bleed out 5 or 10 mins, then you return to your base and wait for a 4 man squad to form before returning to the game), there are ammo limits, a vague back story, teams denoted by colour typically green vs tan (with DPM and DDPM so cheap in surplus shops and colour of rigs are irrelevant so its pretty much open to anyone) rolling objectives although occasionally they have short breaks so it ends up being a series of play pause play etc. The risk of loosing your life and the penalty that is likely to incur tends to make people play smart rather than super aggressive. I find there is far less aggression and cheating. You are probably paying more money to play the game, you have probably prepared for it for a significant amount of time perfecting kit choices and fettling with kit so you are showing much more commitment to the whole concept. You will be in a smaller group than your average skirmish and everyone pretty much is in the same boat so cheating is not tolerated at all.

They sometimes had pre arranged times in the night when things would go quiet, generally after a load of objectives had been completed and just before another big one. There would be a half hour to regroup and square away every 2 or 3 hours, have a brew and some food probably because it was November and it was pretty damn cold. There can also be different objectives with different levels of importance running at the same time, for example finding small bits of intel dotted around the site for small points or going for that big juicy target worth loads of points. So you have to decide which to go for.

Most of the Milsims I've been to there is some kind of command structure but it is very loose, they tend to have a trusted/experienced regular at the site, sometimes they are a player marshal/marshal for normal games at the site who is IC with another as the 2IC. Sometimes there are official squads but they are again either regulars or players known to have plenty of experience who IC/2IC the squad. They handle coms with the organiser and often have additional info into the scenarios, there are not really any orders as such, things tended to get organised by Chinese parliament ( well, as described in various SAS books its how I imagine it works) Everyone gathered, heard the objectives, offered suggestions and the most popular was actioned. In one game they had a "local population" and there were meetings between the IC's and "locals" there was play acting but no saluting etc. I wouldn't bother going to a game like that. Stirling have always put me off as my fitness isn't all that great and I worry I'll not be able to keep up for the duration. And after a knee op last year I don't feel confident running about strange places esp woods in the dark so tend to volunteer to do a larger share of guard duty over the night portions of the event. As for guard duty, actually in the longer games especially at night it was a really good feature. One of the objectives was to mail notes in a post box in the middle of the opposition base, points for each note containing a time and name of a player, minimum of 5 mins between notes for each person on the team, and you had to post them personally. We posted two on stag at our base (we were in a corner of the site so two sides were out of play) at all times which gave two 6 man patrols or three 4 mans out taking objectives. We rotated round which gave everyone a break from running about. Some people me included chose to do more than my share but others wanted to keep going so they took my patrol space. It meant that we were much more active in the final stages of the game the next day. The event ended up coming down to the wire, with the points from the post boxes ultimately costing the other team the game, 2 of our guys sat in their base for 30 mins drinking a beer and videoing themselves posting notes, 12 in total, that didn't include the whole patrol that walked through on another occasion and the guy that actually bumbled into their base by accident after getting separated from the squad. They had about 20 ish notes between 10pm and 7am and didn't even know we had done it as they hadn't bothered with guards. We didn't have any notes at all.

Huge campsite broken into 3 vague areas, shop Zero One haul down almost their entire warehouse)/carboot/admin area followed by the noisy camp, expect heavy drinking and everything from a 12man team in full US VN kit camping in a period style canvas tent with oil barrel bbq/bonfire and a PA system playing the classic VN soundtracks, to campervans with 52 inch hd flatscreens playing all manner of war films. The next is a quiet campsite still heavy drinking but should be fairly respectable levels of noise from about 10ish onwards. However expect muchos shouting of team names, "DELTA DELTA DELTA" Games are set up with the three teams in various bases around the site, there are random objectives strewn around the site open to whoever gets to them first, "uranium" rods, "gold" bars and "drug" packets each of these gives points. At set times a second set of objectives open and close, intel is given to one team, two or all three and a battle may or may not ensue depending on who gets to it first. Points awarded for this as well. Points awarded for number of bases controlled by each team at set points during the day, there are loads each with a flag with each teams colours, the marshals monitor them during the day. Cheating can be rife, but most people play with honour and everyone carries tags on front and back with an ID number, if you have a complaint you can give marshals a tag number and they can locate and warn/remove. Someone was kicked out last year on the Friday night for shenanigans in the first night. Overkill can also be a problem, some people get tired after dealing with the 20th or 30th cheating incident of the day so decide to put a whole mag into you just to make sure. But with about 1500 players in the same place you are bound to have some people who cheat. There are pistol games and mini night games but most people beer it up with mates. It is a great laugh if you don't take it too seriously. The regens could be sorted and policed much better, you find they are spread around the site but your closest might be behind the enemy lines. We got very annoyed by people on other teams respawning and attacking us from the rear repeatedly rather than rejoining their lines before re entering the game which would be more realistic. But it isn't a milsim, don't expect everyone to follow the most realistic game play. Its more for the social aspect.
