If he'd thrown a bit of old shit in the door, I'd have been less bothered and obviously not taken it. It was the fact it was an impact, and it made a decent bang when it just hit the floor that I assumed it had gone off - like it had a little 209 primer in or similar. I think what also narked me more was that this was a battlesim/filsim/milsim-lite job and I expected better, but I appreciate this is on me. I know there's only so much realism you can cram into toy guns, but throwing a spent grenade at an actual enemy IRL would not result in them keeling over due to a misunderstanding 😂

I went to a filmsim/battlesim at the weekend and mostly had a good time but came up against a ‘tactic’ that I thought was a bit pants to be honest. However, I’m interested to know if I’m being overly sensitive. I was defending an objective, which was in a room in a house. It’s very noisy – shouting, loads of grenades etc. Generally hard to hear what’s going on. Suspecting some OpFor in the neighbouring room, I popped an impact grenade around the doorframe. Pop – no kills. About 10 seconds later, an impact grenade comes back around the doorframe into my room. I hear a loud bang as the impact hits the deck (I’ve got ear pro in) and take the hit. Bloke charges in, fair play we’re all done. He then loudly exclaims to his mates that he threw my own dead impact back into the room with me and starts laughing. I said ‘oh well I’m not dead then’ and knife kill him in return, and he says ‘no you are, you took the hit’ and it’s my own fault for not recognising the bang didn’t go off. I said this is stupid – for a start you shouldn’t touch other players pyro, but also next time it encourages people to not take grenade hits in case they were fake. He said he'd seen it on YouTube. I just took the hit and walked off, because I didn’t want any more aggro. Thoughts? Is this a legit tactic and I should shut up, or is this completely pants?

Well my supplied speedloader just jammed up and broke on the first proper attempt to load the mags. I've got some pistol adaptors for a TM speedloader, so I'll see what I can get to work. Otherwise really great pistol and enjoyed runnin it for the first time this weekend just gone.

Went to an evening game at the Invicta Black Site with @VictorFourTwo as a bit of a warm up ahead of an urban battlesim this weekend. As mostly woodland players, we just wanted a bit of a shake down. It was little bit of a mixed bag from my perspective, entirely because of one player, but we had a pretty good time anyway. Games were quite simple: first two games were domination with illuminated coloured beacons. Turn red on if you're red, blue if you're blue etc. Second game there were red and blue beacons dotted around the floor, and you had to retrieve them then bring them back to the spawn. From the outset, I was worried the traffic might be one way. Black site is a small, tight CQB arena with no lighting and lots of dead ends/cut throughts, so knowing your way around is huge advantage. All of the regulars set up on one table, then they all got put on the red team. But of a dud move from the folks running it in my opinion. The domination game did end up that way, with all the regulars knowing the sneaky little places to hide and pretty much locking us in the spawn for 10 minutes, but the second game that involved more movement was closely matched. There was also one regular who accused me of not taking my hits twice, which was a bit lame to be honest then whinged I was 'slow' to take one later one. In the penultimate game of the evening, the same player did the nonchalant dead player style walk past a few of us then shot us in the back. Again, just a bit lame really - genuinely never seen the point of doing that and it just tempts other people into shooting everyone they see just in case. It was only my second time there and said player was there both times. I think I'd give it another go but if that player is there again, acting the same way, that would be it for me.

Nice to see this joker is back.

Just received an email saying it arrived with HPA yesterday and they shipped it today, with expectation it will arrive tomorrow. Turns out I will go to the ball/battlesim.
-
The issue you will have is that you'll often need a fairly high pressure for the rifle to cycle consistently. Airsoft green gas/propane is around 140psi at room temperature, so that's a good place to start with a reg setting, then see if you need the NPAS to bring it down to playable limits.
-
I also forgot there's Octo8 - they run events in the south east and they're a nice halfway house. It's two non-stop back to back eight hour days, but you spend the evening relaxing.

Generally speaking, filmsin tends to just mean restricted ammo counts and semi-auto only (except support weapons) to stop complete drum mag on an M4 hosefests. This is about as 'hardcore' as a regular airsoft site will run, as in the grand scheme of things milsim isn't that popular. If you want sleeping in the cold, firing two rounds all day after lying in a trench - then yeah, go to a Sterling game or one of the more hardcore Defiant ops. Going to any walk-on game and hoping for this will always leave you disappointed.

Do you skirmish it? Very cool if so!

Not sure if that makes me feel better or worse! On the one hand, DAMN YOUR EYES MAN! But on the other hand I wish they'd said 'another batch came in and out but you're next' rather than what they actually sent me, which was: I'll be honest, I nearly said 'forget it, give me the refund' after that but I've already ordered some spare mags from elsewhere now.
-
After hearding nothing, I emailed HPA. Said they've not heard anything from the supplier themselves, and might be able to give me an update by the end of the week. Not currently holding out much hope for getting mine before my next game on May 10th 🥲

Well this has turned into a right saga. Filled in their little form, got another text saying I needed to submit more info. Went on the form and lo, it didn't work and I had to email them instead. Sent the email, then received further requests for info but nothing more I can send. Next I get an email saying it's cleared and I need to pay the fees, so I pay the fees and it says I need to provide more info again! Having sat in the warehouse for another two days, I rang up the customs team at UPS today. They said it had cleared and if I needed to book a delivery I should speak to customer services. After a transfer to customer services, they said it still hadn't cleared customs... After much department passing back and forth, they've booked a delivery for Monday. Let's see if it turns up eh!

If you're the South East, I'd recommend getting along to a Defiant game - there's a battlesim on May 10, then plenty after. The sort of people you're looking to join in with go to those games, so you should find some folks in no time!
-
I've sent them a message too - I've not really found the hop in my GDR lacking in any way but I'll be interested to try it if there's a noticeable gain.

"Bang off the limit"

Finally sorted and got round to painting the Tanaka I bought just before Christmas. Looking sharp now, if I do say so myself...
-
Gosh I made that terribly unclear didn't I? What I was trying to say was my first order sailed through with no customs or RIF declaration (also only parts, similar value) but my latest one has been picked up for both.
-
FYI, I ordered from WGC last year and no declaration for parts, it sailed through. Placed another order last week and just had an email from UPS asking for my UKARA for parts! Filled it in, will update as it goes on...
-
I did think about cancelling but I'm not in a rush as I've ordered some mags & other bits from HK that I expect will take a couple of weeks. If there's no progress in two weeks though I'll cancel, but for now I'll quite happily save the extra few quid. Do they have a physical retail store or site shop? Wondering if people walked in at the weekend and bought them before they had chance to update their online inventory.
-
HPA actually just emailed me saying they can't fulfill my order as they've run out but they've given me the option to wait (they think around 2 weeks).

Only one now 👀

Cor drilling and tapping the receiver precisely is going to be a very hard job. The basic tools needed would either be a specialist jig that centres and aligns everything, or the ability to lock the rifle into a fixture on a mill that allows you to centre and true everything, then traverse the bed to keep everything in line. Personally, I would only take this to an armourer - I wouldn't fancy my own abilities to do this on a mill and I've got a rough idea of what I'm doing with precision tools 🤣 A bit of consideration needs to be given to the thickness of the receiver in the points you want to drill and tap. There needs to be quite a lot of spare material to be able to screw the mounts down tight without interferring with the bolt/breech area. Basically what I'm saying is, if you don't care about accuracy get the Bad Ace mount.

Had a fun day at Imperium yesterday, involving possibly my finest airsoft moment of all time. The two teams were set up at opposing sides of the lower half of the site. The task was to secure the APC, and transport your teams jerry cans to the APC. Once one team had done that, they had to move the APC to another location, put the VIPs inside the APC and extract. Either team could secure the APC to begin with but once it had been secured by one team, it was theirs for the rest of the game and it was up to the other team to disable it/prevent extraction. The morning started off with a few scraps but my team (blues) managed to secure the APC. Unfortunately reds came in force and took us off the APC before we were able to transport all our jerry cans to it. Further scrapping ensued but the reds got all their jerry cans there and it was theres. We were then instructed to set up an ambush between the APC start point and the VIP location. Various groups set off, but I spied a nice little dead end in the long grass. I laid down and stayed silent/totally still. Despite just being in ODs, the enemy team walked right by me within 10 or 15 feet. I waited a minute or two longer until their team was completely facing away, then popped up and moved forward elminating the entire force guarding the APC. I moved up, waited for the APC doors to open and tapped the reds in there too. A couple more reinforcements bagged before I was shot by a sniper. Quick tally put it around 15 players elminated, or half their entire team. They fought back well but their momentum was lost and they failed to extract the VIP. In the afternoon, the reds started with the APC on the comms tower. It was our task to assault the tower and disable the APC within an hour, but if we failed to do that we had a secondary task of capturing the intel in the FOB, which would reveal the location of some missles. If we got those back to our regen, they could be fired at the APC from a distance winning the game. I decided to leave my GBLS in the boot and roll out with the Tanaka. By the afternoon the wind had picked up and even with 0.45s it was tough to make any accurate hits beyond 50m, so I mostly stuck to harrassing the reds. 0.45s pinging off metal sheets does tend to keep people's heads down. I did have a few issues with rentals not taking hits, I watched a few bounce off them but I always see that as one of the expected downsides of long range sniping. Even so, I scored a good five or six hits with my pistol. In the end we never captured the comms tower, but we did get the intel from the FOB and managed to get the missles back to our regen with seconds to spare.

It’s got quite a bit better of late - last month was 30 odd. Not huge numbers compared to some sites but more than enough for plenty of action. *Full disclosure I’ve been helping out Val building new structures on site.
