This is questionable, considering parts are impossible to get and the only thing harder than spare parts is spare magazines. May as well be a boneyard wallhanger. Oh and they were about £250 new from Asia...

Wish they had what I need...

Went to Gunman Alpha yesterday for a themed ‘90s game. It was the invented nation of Sahud occupied by Russians vs the NATO forces. Everyone made lots of effort with period kit and it worked really nicely. The event really leant into the roleplay element and the whole day was tracked with a giant ‘morale-o-meter’. In short the Sahudi’s has tasks to do to make rebellion popular with the people, while the NATO forces had to win hearts and minds. For lots of tasks there were different ways of going about it, and some outcomes would have positive effects on the morale, some outcomes negative. I was on the Sahudi ‘side’ but myself and another were actually CIA operatives under cover. We kept well hidden within the Sahudi team, until we were eventually assassinated by our own NATO forces, who opted to put spent Russian cartridges around our bodies to sow seeds of discord into the Sahudi/Russian alliance. It was interesting focusing more on the roleplay rather than the shooty shooty and the first time I’ve done this sort of game. I wouldn’t want to do it every weekend but it was cool to try. If you fancy it but don’t have the kit, Gunman has a huge stockpile of stuff, with lots of people borrowing period kit for the weekend. Not sure when the next one is, but I’ll go again.

Chronoing gas shotguns is both easy and hard, depending on the kit on hand. As you've found, most site chronos struggle - the gas can upset them, as can multiple BBs going through the gates, which is how you end up with mad 5J readings. Lots of places will tell you to just load one BB and fire that, which is inaccurate the other way and often leads to lower readings (lots of gas will just escape out of the other barrels). The only way to do it really accurately is to use radar chronos (https://airsoftdirect.uk.com/product/valken-airsoft-chronograph-custom-chrono-x-radar/) but they're not especially common. FWIW if I chrono at home with multiple BBs, I often get 3J+ readings. If I chrono with one BB, it will usually show around 0.7J but if I chrono on a radar with three BBs it's around 1J.

Up for sale is my FDE VFC FNX-45. Comes fitted with a WADSN Surefire XC1 replica, HW RMR and four gas tight magazines. Internally the pistol is virtually stock with the exception of a Psyonic hop rubber, currently set for 0.32s that it hops with plenty to spare. Runs really well - zero issues - I've just bought a GHK Glock and need to make some room. Chronos at 0.9J for me on ASG Ultra. Payment by paypal. Price includes shipping.£195

Should more sites weigh the bbs during chrono?
LMKipper replied to JVacation's topic in General Discussion
My friend - take this from someone who runs chrono at a site as a marshal: a chrono cannot 'measure' the joules of an airsoft gun. It cannot be used to detect someone lying about the weight of their BBs. All a chrono does is measure the speed of the BB - it does not know the weight of the projectile or the energy it is carrying. Inputting the weight into some chronos allows it to calculate the joules based on the input weight of the projectile. If the weight input is incorrect, the subsequent joules calculation will be incorrect. If a gun chronos at 310fps and the user claims to be running 0.25g BBs, the chrono will say the RIF is firing at 1.12j. If they are actually using 0.3g BBs, the chrono will still read 310fps and it will still say it is firing at 1.12j when in reality its more like 1.3j. -

I think someone has just used a public forum to realise they don’t know how a chrono works. -

The time I went, I was really surprised by this - I think it was the first time I'd been to a site where the chrono was effectively voluntary (or more voluntary than other sites). However as Colin said it didn't seem to be a problem. There was a solid queue of people waiting to use them and I never really got a whiff of anything funny while I was there. -

Sorry yes what I meant was there's nothing to prevent me (or anyone), other than the threat of being caught. Ultimately, it's very very difficult to completely prevent people from cheating if they really want to. You just have to do everything you can to make it not worth it. -

In truth nothing is foolproof. I've been to places that give you ammo, tag your RIF etc but there would be nothing stopping me turning up an NPAS or similar in the field. I played first time round about 20 years ago, then got back into it recently, and I've never been spot-checked in the field. The only thing I've ever seen that was lairy was at DogTag last summer: a guy chronoed as a DMR (he was right in front of me in the queue), then in the field I clocked he was firing full-auto. I told a marshall, they spoke to him and reported back to me that he had turned off the semi-lock on his mosfet. They sent him home instantly. I do some marshalling at a site in the SE when I'm free and often run the chrono. Do the same checks in the chrono, tag the RIFS (and regs for HPA) then eyeball everyone out of the safezone to make sure everything is marked up. When I go out into the gaming area, I take a chrono out in my pocket and I have spot-checked people. I've yet to come across anyone doing anything silly like adjusting power post-chrono. -
Perfectly legimate tactic.

I don't think they going to be so sought after that people will be paying over (or possibly even around) the RRP, but then people do mad things all the time. You can buy G17 Gen 5 MOS GHKs for virtually the same price as the TM now - I did about three weeks ago, so I'm not sure the demand is really there. Price it how you like but be prepared to appear in Macks...

03457 877 877 Press the numbers for the customs team, then go from there. I think things are slow at the moment though. My parts were stuck for nearly two weeks.

There was a guy in the room playing the VIP (who was part of the organisation team) who saw the whole thing. He seemed entirely disinterested by it - in fact when I tried to bring him into the conversation, he remained resolute in his silence. I spoke to one of the proper marshals later, who agreed touching other pyro a no-no and was quick to point out he'd mentioned it in the brief but by this time I'd forgotten what the player who did it looked like. "I dunno mate, camo trousers with an M4..."

I was recently astonished to learn that it can also be used in IT security - short for 'number used only once'...
