  1. Looks neat and concise, invested in top quality eye pro, can't go wrong really. The majority of tac gear has (historically at least) been designed for pretty huge blokes, I had the same issue for a long time when I started out. I'd advise avoiding any sort of a vest (i.e. something that doesn't hold plates and isn't a chest rig) because the original designs of those tend to stem from gear that's meant to be worn over the top of armour. Chest rigs are better for tightening down, flecktarn.co.uk sell a couple of very high quality options by BULLE which are also very affordable. Possibly not in black, but tan and black looks pretty ballin'
  2. Do they do airsoft stuff then?
  3. Don't get anything new for months, then three packages turn up within the space of 20 minutes. -Glock 17rnd mag + Lancer Systems L5 30rnd translucent mag -G-Code SOC Rig for Government 1911s with standard frame cowling -ESC Custom TM MEU fitted with HurricanE Kimber Desert Warrior kit
  4. Does it have any metal hooks on the exterior? Or a big flap buttoned up on the back? Sniper and Para smocks are pretty common around here. I've never seen or heard of anyone here dying their jackets a darker colour, unless it was SFSG since they hang out here a lot. Wouldn't be for guard duty, uniform when on guard has to be neat and by-the-book. Wouldn't be for general day-to-day wear around camp either, you wouldn't get away with wearing dyed stuff. Must've been used for night ops back in the days before MTP/PCS. I'd imagine either an instructor or trainee in sniper training school, they do loads of sneaking about in the woods at night trying to not get caught/catch people.
  5. Remind me never to annoy you then. I'm at Honington, explosive storage.
  6. I was going to say that sounds damn heavy, but with the mags in that's pretty decent really, specially with heavy GBB pistol mags. Not like a few BBs will add many ounces after all. Anyway, people often ask what I do so I thought I'd snap my everyday work 'loadout' as it were while I had my stuff in my room. As you can see, I'm not very tactical in my job; but hey folks need ammo so someone's gotta sort it out.
  7. Blimey, 12lbs with empty mags or just no mags at all?
  8. Apart from the fact he appears to have a very very cold noggin, one of the better starter loadouts I've seen. By quite a margin actually, going with solid colours worked well.
  9. I've seen a few things around, but Kryptek are competing in the US Army's trial for a UCP replacement, so they've not really put any focus on production for the private purchasing market. If you look up their website I believe they have a list of distributors and sell a few things directly.
  10. 'Because it's cool' is a specific reason. Doubly so in airsoft.
  11. New stuff this week - 3 x Extended pistol TACOs from my buddy Ed at Flimmuur Tactical. He's actually managed to beat HSGI on the quality of construction, which is no mean feat. Compared to the original pistol TACO. Also, Grey Ghost Gear Stealth Operator Pack in Kryptek Highlander. Will be my new EDC bag for work.
  12. Well, I'm fairly familiar with the controls & overall ergonomics/balance for starters. I think that in terms of features like the safety/selector, the optics mounting, trigger setup etc it's the best bullpup available in airsoft for my needs, and I think bullpups in general are great. However, the MoD's choice of foregrip and rail covers are inferior when it comes to my personal desires when on the skirmish field, and I really don't like the aesthetics of the grip-pod/ladder covers combo myself. I've grown accustomed to it, but if I had the choice when I deployed I wouldn't use the issued 20mm accessories. The same as I personally wouldn't use the issue MOLLE pouches/uniform/holster/helmet/PC....
  13. If you were sick of seeing the damn things every single day, would you exactly copy the real setup?
  14. -FrogLube CLP oil and paste (stuff is awesome, smells just like dentist mouthwash) -Microfiber cloth -Various sized collet heads for the dremel to accept my annoyingly-just-too-thin diamond tipped grinding bits -Medium strength blue loctite -Tungsten carbide dremel bit -Various extra sized allen head screwdrivers Can't tell that I'm working on a GBBr at all.
  15. Not what I've bought I must confess, but santa was absolutely surgical in his airsoft present selection this year I must say. I've decided after giving them a go for a good while that I do not like the Oakley SI Assault gloves, as popular as they might be, so I'm looking forward to trying the Outdoor Research. Also the first Chest Rig I've ever had in my whole time 'softing, apart from a chicom I bought in 2009 for £12 to use when dressing up as one of them darned terrorists to get shot at (with blanks). Though the bit I must confess I'm most excited about is actually the new wallet, which is a very long story so I won't go in to all the details here since a man's wallet is a highly vital piece of EDC equipment with a lot of aspects to it's usage. But at last I've got one made of 1000D cordura with double stitching reinforcements and bar tacking. Happy days. You'll probably get a giggle from this as well. That's the back of the SKD sticker, i.e. the part you throw away.
  16. MSM package rocked up. Not sure whether this was meant to be a dig or a friendly bit of humour, but the patch was free either way so I'm not complaining. 'RAW' hoodie which is perfect for one's airsofter-about-town fashion styling. Review will be up on YouTube tomorrow. I will not be giving up my day job as an armourer to become a male model. And of course if you're ordering from MSM you are legally required to get a few more patches, and my Mega PatchBook also has a long way to go before it's full. These stickers/vinyl transfers they've started doing are really excellent as well.
  17. That's a sweet deal for an LCT.
  18. New loadout carrying gear. P.I.G. AKB (Armour Kit Bag) with PIG Mk1 shoulder straps and the obligatory patches/sticker you just have to throw in to the shopping cart whenever you place an order online. Looks better when there's stuff actually in it. Still strongly resembles like a brown paper shopping bag admittedly, but a shopping bag that you can fill with all your very favourit'est airsoft kit and rest assured it will reside safe and sound within. Review will go in to the relevant sub-section soon. Also in case anybody was wondering, the sticker is a little bit of memorabilia for the massive sale SKD Tactical held as soon they found out Osama was sleeping with the fishes (literally as it turned out).
  19. By the time you'd paid the shipping and VAT it would've worked out the same anyway, or close enough.
  20. Never seen a tactical St George patch before, where's that from?
  21. I'm just amazed you put that canadian type (DIS?) carry handle on there. That's true love.
  22. Does the missus gun have more accessories on it by any chance?
  23. I've not tried any of their actual Chest rigs/PCs or upper body clothing, I found their MOLLE pouches to be somewhat hit-and-miss (though cheap it has to be said), but I've never been anything but impressed by the combat trousers. I got a set of MC Ultimate Direct Actions a long while back which are a bit heavy but very durable, then some Direct Actions in AOR2 last year which are perfect if you want something really lightweight with internal neoprene kneepads, most recently these new types are sort of a bridge between the two. Nice that they came in AOR1 for a few dollars extra as well. No stretch fabric like Cryes so they're a bit tougher overall, design accomodates the external kneepads (comes with a decent pair of their own design) and the pocket layout is nicely done. If you're like me and you prefer to carry 1 rifle + 1 pistol mag in a trouser pocket as you leave the safe zone, so that you can load and still have your easiest to access mag pouch filled when the need arises for a quick reload, they work exceptionally well.
  24. It's all been about Crye style trousers for my last couple of procurements. Custom built from scratch (not be me, I literally cannot even sew in a name label) AC/Gen II type Combats in MTP: The kneepad pockets are reinforced by being constructed using 500D Multicam cordura, and the stretch panels aren't as stretchy as the Crye stuff but they're many many times more resilient. CP Gen 3 kneepads fit and velcro in perfectly. I've spent a lot of time looking in very closely at almost every single stitch and this guys' skills are just amazing, I'd probably say I prefer these overall to the Crye Precision originals I have in Ranger Green. Check this guy out - http://www.facebook.com/flimmuurtactical Also a couple of nice bits in AOR1 from OPS: As skirmish practical combat trousers go, I honestly believe you'd struggle to beat this new '3D Battle' cut they recently released. I do love my Crye uniforms, but these cost less, they're much more readily available and they come in a far wider range of colours and camo patterns.
  25. Good choice in an AR. I'd definitely run the setup from the second picture. The photos themselves are quite well setup, try and get outside where possible, the quality of proper sunlight makes pictures look far better right away. Specially if you setup a nice clean background.
