The 'What have you just bought' Thread
TheFull9 replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Let me know how they work out when they show up and after a few games. I picked up some pouches from them a long, long time ago that weren't too great but I'm hoping they'll have upped their game around by now because some of the designs they sell are pretty interesting. Small world! Couple of shots from my last game that might be of some interest for a bit of reference when mixing MC and Grey. -
Delivery from UR-Tac. These are the Fast Response which is their more basic model with (included) internal formed foam knee pads. The ATACS-FG version in particular features 500D cordura reinforcement on the knees (which is a big plus) and seat. 3D Battles; which are a slightly heavier and cheaper but more robust interpretation of Crye Gen 2s without any of the stretch materials. A very good compromise between Crye G2/3 and the Fast Response or a more conventional BDU/ACU. The OPS pads that come included are more like the Crye Gen1 pads and I tend to swap them out for Crye Airflex, but they are quite serviceable. Also nabbed a hat to go in with the order while I was making one.

No sweat, just wanted to highlight in a polite way for future reference in case you weren't sure. -

Just so you're aware mate, it's UBACS - Under body armour combat shirt. People pronounce it 'backs', but yeah, there's no K. Unless it's because when you're in a squad all wearing 'em they keeps ur'backs cool and dry? -
That looks extremely convincing, nice work.

Looks like a standard carbine length 7" handguard, the standard A-frame block/sight should go back on there no trouble theoretically.

Source make bladders that're the same size as a 1L water bottle (because they're 1L, imagine that?), so you've got the convenience of just twisting a valve to drink without the surface area coverage of a 2/3L hydration carrier. People generally buy them in a set with a Tac Tailor 'joey' pouch but I'd imagine they only come in Coyote and MC. Could easily buy the bladder and stick it in any black GP pouch of choice though; just refill from a larger botttle in the safe zone whenever necessary.

Starting on the grey loadout. Arc'teryx Talos Halfshell in the old style that's currently on its' away out (yet far better IMHO). Older type TAD Gear Stealth Hoodie that a friend in the states had stashed away for many years still in the packet.

Well I've owned the LM4 for about 6 months now, not really used it apart from a bit of plinking but the magazines have no issues at all staying gas tight. Unlike the 11 x G&P WOC mags I owned for about 2 years before switching over to the KWA platform, which were nothing but an enormous splooging of money down the drain, every single one. The good thing KWA did with their rifle is look at the various systems already on the market and properly think about which areas need to be beefed up/altered and parts made of decent steel. I believe It's the newest of all the GBB AR-15s (possibly excluding the weird new G&G that's rather unrealistic), and it really shows. Soon as I take it to a game I'll let you know how it performs.

So here's the LM4 I picked up last December, finally managed to get 95% of the parts I wanted together along with all the necessary tools. Took this just as I finished rethreading the upper in order to fit the Midwest Industries tube. Just need to get a light mount and finish work on the bolt catch to fit the BAD and it'll be 100%.

I'd like some cerakote done on bits of my LM4 so I'd imagine I'll go down at some point. Just unsure about the whole process; time taken, cost, exact condition the parts need to be in prior to work etc. Their new website is good but there's not a massive amount of actually relevant info. -

That's impressive, Lantac are asking £175 for the exact same optic. Really good to see the Vortex stuff becoming more commonly available here, they make an excellent option for airsoft use. A lot of airsoft brands have been getting away with charging similar prices for much lower quality for too long now. -

Madbull or RS? Got back from my jaunts in 'merica 2 days ago, bag went from room-to-spare on arrival to barely-zipping-up on departure. The tac gear I paid for, all the merch was generously donated by my buddy who put me up at his pace in LA, cause he's just that minted he's got LaRue hats coming out of everywhere it seems. Alright for some! Haha. Though, I suppose somewhat strangely, the two bits of paper that certify I did some training courses are by far the most expensive items there; in terms of the overall process of acquisition anyway. I was rather worried for a miute when I collected my bag and noticed all the compression straps were flapping in the breeze, because I'm super OCD about that sort of thing. Found this right on top of everything when I opened her up. Which was an odd surprise. But all's present and correct fortunately. -
To say I've no clue at all what the heck you're talking about would be a serious understatement. I spend all my days wearing greasy coveralls and steel toe-capped boots. If you wish to discuss something further for whatever reason then there's a PM function for that, otherwise my suggestion would be we all the topic to return to its' intended subject.

My apologies if it seemed that I implied you were, that wasn't my intention, just speaking generally to all the lurkers. That's writing on forums for you. You're quite correct, hipsters are what they are, unfortunately. And they're especially prevalent on the internet.

Oh I dunno, it did take a while to get popular in airsoft, and only once it got really popular did the implication that it was of low quality/inferior and therefore (apparently) homosexual become the in-thing to post all over the place. I only started in 06 and I'm fairly sure PTS barely existed at that point.

Pretty amazed little gem of a phrase is still doing the rounds. Hold up..... Doctor Who just rocked up in his tardis let me ask him about it..... yep, he said it's all the rage in 2009.

Doesn't surprise me, they rip off the MoD at every turn. Same as every big company that contracts for the government really, it's all a shambles. I'll leave it for another thread rather than gun pictures though to save going too off-topic.
-
Well, they were born out of Mauser in Germany. I believe there was (might still be) a H&K UK division setup that was responsible for various things related with the L85A2, but yeah 'we' owned H&K for a bit, but it was sold back in 02 during a restructure within BAe (bad move). There's no Royal Ordnance any more, all just became BAe long ago.

TM SOCOM, wouldn't recommend the URX for it yet since I've not been able to test for fitment of a battery. Had issues with the TM 14.5" barrels sitting canted to the right for some reason, spent a long time swapping bits between all 3 SOCOM uppers but couldn't nail down the issue in my limited time frame. The cant is hidden in the picture but I had to swap back to the 12" barrel/10" Troy rail in the end, hopefully I'll be able to go back home and try again in a week or two. Miight be able to start working on the LM4 soon, but I've only just finished downgrading and testing to get the nozzle setup for skirmish use.

Well an awful lot of it is just patches and stickers in fairness. The cap, the black hoodie and the MC pouch were sent over by MSM for reviewing which is lucky because I can only just barely justify spending the money I do on kit for the loadouts I plan, let alone superfluous luxuries. Then again, is anything other than some old clothes, eye-pro snaffled from stores and a cheap AEG really a necessity for airsoft? Be a very small hobby if we only ever used the real basics. But yeah, not had anything show up for some time then 5 packages all got delivered between Tuesday and Friday. Which is nice in the long run I suppose. Edit, here's the Kryptek out of the packaging: -

Good stuff. Bit of advice for future purchases anyway. You'll have a great big locker full of stuff before you know it, don't worry.
