Apparently blind bloke in the Black Country
Hudson replied to Count Crow's topic in New Players & Arrivals
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that! 😅 -
Ok so there's definitely a big difference between the two then! Have you managed to try the TM hop unit with a new barrel yet? It seems like that might be usable, although it may require a different length air nozzle. I shall definitely have to source one myself to test out! Thank you
-
Thanks, I've got a spare JG one at home, so I'll compare the dimensions with that and see if there's any difference. 🙂
-
If it makes sense without being able to actually show you, then the entire length of the unit, minus the hop wheel, and the measurement from the rear of the hop unit to the rear end of the space for the barrel clip would be good, please! Thanks
-
What issues are you having? It appears okay on my end.
-
Despite being the same price, it looks to be both two different locations and two different phone numbers. At least the one here actually has some photos, at the very least!
-
Nice! Keep us posted! If you have some calipers, Would you be able to measure the TM Vs JG hop unit while you're at it, please?
-
What gas are you using and how much over is it?
-
Just as above really. I've had to stick with the original barrel and air nozzle and it's working fine now. Looks to just be a design flaw on Jing gongs end. All the other barrels I have currently seem to be approximately 22.5mm to the C-clip notch, so that's my only option currently. If I can get a hold of a marui hop unit then I'll see if there's any difference in dimensions that would allow me to use a better barrel, but for now it's doing ok. Took it out to a game yesterday and it ran fine with no issues. Currently sporting a new paint job to boot!

I've got two phone apps I use for this, to make it easy if it's for a weight or power I haven't memorised. First is the Airsoft ballistics calculator, that one just lets you find the power of a specified weight BB at whatever velocity you get. Second is/was called FPS calc basic. This one works in reverse, where you put in the required joule limit and it'll show you what the FPS limits will be for a large variety of BB weights. I don't know if this one is still available to download as a quick look on the app store didn't immediately bring it up.

Took from the character of the same name in Aliens, been using it since about 2001, can't remember if the main forums then were UKAN or if old blue was still around.

Decided to do some spraying today, finally managed to get the temperamental SG-1 from another thread running after some woes. Looking to get it out for a game tomorrow, all being well!

Now as a (mostly) normal thinking human being, I would think that were I asking such an £amount for one gun, that I'd have a detailed parts list, along with plenty of photos and informati- Oh, right. I see where I went wrong. 🤡

I have to think that this belongs here. I want to know how exactly it gets to this price, doesn't mention the base MK23 it's built off (probably a cheap ASG?) The shell adapter is about £100 new so where's the rest of the cost, and why is there only one photo that doesn't even show the entire thing? 😶
-
Yes, use them regularly and they've been great each time.

It looks like it should be the male 3 cell, 4 pin version.

There's someone selling one at a local site for £100 (although not two tone, at least!)

Help Me to Convince a Site Owner to Switch to Joules Please
Hudson replied to Chev Chelios's topic in General Discussion
Probably best to do some actual testing to show what results you can get. Strangely they seem to accept joule creep effects for sniper rifles, hence menasuring on the BB weight used, but not on any of the others. Does the site allow HPA? If so, that might be the easiest way to test and demonstrate it. I know one of my local sites insists on sticking with the "chrono on a 0.2", and I could very easily abuse this for joule creep in my bolt actions if need be, but I understand it enough to account for that. I'm certain that there are plenty of players running around with theirs firing 499.9fps on a 0.2, but creeping massively once they get in game. Whether you'll be able to get them to change their mind is another thing, however. -
At a guess, Do you think replacing the hop unit for a marui version might improve this? I'm wondering if the JG unit is ever so slightly off spec in comparison, so it works with their own barrels, but not any others.
-
Well after the last, unsuccessful attempt I decided to change tack and go back to the beginning. I changed the barrel back to the stock one, and adjusted the nozzle to match the stock length (despite it appearing to still have the slight gap) and that appears to have sorted it. 🤔 It's putting out around 350fps on an M95, with single figure variance. At a guess, I think the XT barrel and the location for the C-clip notches might be a large part of it. As you can see in the photos below there's over half a mm difference in the positions between the XT and stock barrels. Strangely though, despite having an XT barrel in my other JG G3, that doesn't appear to have the same issue ATM (at least not so far, fingers crossed).
-
Update: This is not going very well, like I'd hoped! Still getting the same feeding issues, even going through a variety of nozzle lengths. 😑
-
Well unfortunately the ultimate nozzles I have are too wide for the hop unit, so I'll have to look for something else. *Edit, called in at BZ Tactical on the way back from shooting, and managed to snag an adjustable nozzle that was supposedly out of stock on the website, so my job just got a whole lot easier! (I hope)
-
I've been looking for some of the adjustable nozzles that I've used in previous guns, but they mostly seem to be out of stock currently!
