  1. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was the reaction; some people just do not get it.
  2. No, definitely not; this was a one off (probably). I thought Townshend was a smasher rather than a burner; Hendrix burned a couple of guitars.
  3. Miguel from CAMO usually, but not always, runs the days at Tower for Airsoft Plantation with the marshals usually being from Airsoft Plantation. Regarding the PDW, the one that I was working on was ancient. I believe that the Double Bell plastic version is somewhat better; the metal one is very decent.
  4. So, today I was again at Tower Airsoft in Essex. In addition to my CYMA based MPiKM and my unknown make AMD 65, I had the lad's G&G C7 with me as he had not used it since September 2022 and was keen that it got a run. I also had my partially completed ancient DBoys PDW build, so that I could check its power output with the hop properly set; Tower has a long straight path with trees at the end leading away from the range, which is ideal for setting up hops. In addition, I took my old CYMA electric pistol because I still want to believe that they are viable airsoft weapons. Arriving nice and early, I went out to set up the PDW; it shot perfectly at what the site chrono said was a decent power level. Unfortunately, the quality of plastic from which it is constructed is so poor that the mag catch managed to smash the very thin piece of plastic that prevents it collapsing into the magwell once the magazine is removed. I also tried the electric pistol and finally had to accept that my desire to believe something does not necessarily make it true. There were about 105-110 players present, which is a lot for what is quite a small site; there also seemed to be more miniguns than I have ever seen on a single game day, along with a fair number of rentals and two of the smallest players that I have seen in a very long time. The day was good, with the usual well though out games, including one in which the attackers had to secure a smoke grenade that was in an ammunition box in the village and transport it to the bridge, where they had to set it off. We were defending first and the attacking team eventually broke into the village and secured the smoke grenade, which they immediately set off; listening to, and remembering, the game brief is important! When the game was turned around, we did not make the same mistake. Both legs of the game were great fun with elements of both sides outflanking each other and turning up behind the opposing team, leading to a degree of paranoia which resulted in a lot of "friendly fire" kills. Great fun! On returning home, I concluded that the PDW was no longer viable; after stripping out the gearbox and everything else that was worth saving, I was left with the nasty cheap plastic externals. Therefore, the best thing to do was to set fire to it, so it went into the fire flowerpot where it burned and melted nicely; having acquired a taste for burning and melting airsoft items, I then did the same with the electric pistol. Great fun!
  5. That was exactly what I thought; I am currently spending far too much of my working time analysing ChatGPT and similar AI systems and their output.
  6. It was what you said: "CO2 is primarly for cold weather when regular gases couldn't cycle your pistol anymore and even then you should be gentle." Is green gas more convenient? Does changing a capsule give you a headache? We don't find either of those statements to be accurate. My son uses his a lot; I use mine somewhat less, but neither of us has encountered any significant issues over several years. The key advantages that we find with CO2 are that it gives a lot of shots per capsule, you don't need bulky gas cans and it is much more reliable. What you should not do is run CO2 in pistols that are not designed for it; that could be problematic.
  7. Nonsense! My son and I have been running CO2 pistols for a few years now at all times of the year, without issues.
  8. True, but they fail an awful lot less than regular gas magazines.
  9. I haven't found the seals to be too much of a problem; they seem far more robust than standard gas magazines and O rings are cheap.
  10. I dislike M1911s but run a KWC/Milbro/Cybergun CO2 one for airsoft. The magazine capacity is limited (about 17 rounds) but I get a fair few magazines from one CO2 bulb. If only there was a decent aftermarket hop unit for it. Or worse, knowing Luke.
  11. I am not sure what he did but...
  12. Testing them in a store tells you nothing about their durability and reliability; even WE Hi-Powers usually work when brand new. I don't own a Vorsk, but I know of a couple of people who bought them; they lasted for a handful of games and then died. There are also plenty of first hand similar reports on t'interwebs. Remember that much of what you see on social media comes from either people with brand new toys or "influencers" 🤮 who are being rewarded for giving positive reviews.
  13. That sounds like bloody good fun! What a cracking report as well!
  14. It is marginally under the legal limit, but way over what any site would allow.
  15. Way, way back when I first started marshalling, we used to run gas pistol and spring shotgun evenings; attendance was poor although they were great fun. I suspect that GBB and springer days would be financially unviable for site owners.
  16. This advert is COMPLETED!

Having sacrificed parts of one of my toys in order to sort out one of my son's RIFs, I am in need of an old style G&G CM16 lower receiver as shown.

  17. Maybe you should take a look at the title you gave this thread; the name of the event is there. It does not take much to find out who the organisers are from that.
  18. Because there is not a governing body to make them mandatory.
  19. Having spent a lot of time working on the L1A1 over the years, I don't blame him. My latest adventure was reshaping an SHS steel V3 COL to match the slightly "off" profile of the soft cheese Ares one; that was fun. £500? Bloody hell!
  20. On Saturday, the lad and I again ventured into Essex to Tower Airsoft. The weather forecast was poor with heavy rain forecast for the afternoon, which may have been responsible for the relatively low number of regular players. However, numbers were boosted by two rental groups, one being a stag group and the other the local under 15 football team; each group was allocated to one of the teams. As usual, the games were well thought out and worked well, the highlight for me being a solo stand outside the fort during a domination game, preventing the opposition getting to the timer that they had to switch over, while the rest of my team (all dead) watched from the track. It was also rather satisfying to see the lad putting his recently acquired combat skills into effect in an airsoft environment rather than at Sennybridge. Huge kudos to the chap on the other team who was dressed as a US cavalryman and toting two revolvers, However, there were some of the usual problems with large rental groups, which the marshals did everything they could to mitigate. Fortunately, as planned, the stag group left at lunchtime to go somewhere and get pissed and the footballers were taken off to play by themselves in one part of the field where they could use full auto on each other as much as they wanted. In the afternoon, the weather forecast proved to be accurate, with heavy rain. However, neither the weather nor the issues affected our enjoyment of the day; the lad was very pleased with the performance of his LCT AS Val, bought from @Thorpey, to whom many thanks.
  21. I recently bought the lad a second hand LCT AS Val, which is a very beautiful, rather heavy item that shoots very nicely. For myself, a second hand DBoys PDW for £35 all in.
  22. Taiwangun will not ship to any of the UK apart from NI, which is still effectively within the EU's Single Market. Shipping stuff to the rest of the UK from the EU is complicated as, for every transaction above a relatively low value, sellers are required to register with HMRC and collect tax on their behalf. Generally, it is not worthwhile for them. Another Brexit benefit!
  23. Another vote for the Maple Leaf/Omega Nub combination, although I prefer the slightly softer nub from AK2M4. 0.35g - 0.40g at 440 fps?
