  1. Can't decide which I like better - competition sights or an RMR mount. Which do you guys prefer? P.S. Anyone have any good recommendations for a holster (repro safariland model etc.) that would fit an RMR mounted like this plus an X300?
  2. Loving the shooters belt from Deadly Customs! Got a lot of recommendations from the forum members here and went ahead with this option a few months ago. The holster and pouches are for my Glock but too lazy to get it out of storage for pics - so just shoved a 1911 in (and it fits!) Really wanted to go all grey on the magazine pouches but they seemed pretty hard to get so had to substitute the Kywi for black. I saw some competition shooters in the US use Kywi's up front, and pouches with a bit of an angle towards the rear, so tried to copy that setup. Clockwise - DC universal Glock holster (QLS), DC dump pouch, DC shooter's double stack pouch, Kywi double stack pouch
  3. Took almost a year and a lot of planning to source everything, but finally finished my grail build - the Springfield Armory Professional ---------------------------------------------- Fun fact : The late-model versions of the MEU such as the Tokyo Marui or Guarder replicas are based on this version of the 1911. The USMC took base model Springfield Professional models and modified it to fit their own requirements. These included things such as adding the lanyard loop and forward slide serrations. The photo below of an actual MEU pistol shows how the slide sports the forward serrations added by the USMC's armorers, which was cut over the "custom shop" lettering from the Springfield factory. Another interesting thing is that the slide and frame seem to be a different color. This was because the frame was the original "Black-T" finish from the factory, while the slide was refinished/parkerized after cutting the front slide serrations. I really wanted the original professional model (RS example, left), but the only similar option available without the front slide serrations was the Guarder Bureau model (RS example, right). They both are essentially the same gun, but the latter was a marketing ploy by Springfield after they won the contract for the FBI HRT's sidearm. They slathered a bunch of FBI lettering and even used FBI in the serial numbers to really let you know this was a cool gun chosen by the FBI. After about 40 or so of these were manufactured and sold as the "Bureau Model" the FBI put a hard stop for their name being used in branding. Due to this, these were extremely rare, and the RS ones can go for 5,000+ USD; I assume that Guarder chose to produce the Bureau Model instead of the bare-bones Professional due to this rarity and backstory. But still, I really wanted the original model since both the USMC's MEU and the FBI's "Bureau Model" both were based on the Professional. Which brings us back to the fun fact in the first photo: The MEU is the Professional model, with forward serrations added - This gave me an idea. If the forward serrations were skipped from being added on Guarder's MEU slide, it would be exactly what I wanted. So I pitched this idea to Guarder, with fingers crossed that they would accept something like this. And by some miracle, they accepted to do the custom order! And here it is! The only airsoft SFA professional. It was such a long project to complete I now can't exactly remember why I wanted a Professional in the first place, but extremely happy on how it came out. Everything is correct to original Pro model specs, but I never could source the magwell.. Any SOA fans out there? While researching for this project I found that Jax teller's main sidearm was also a Professional
  4. That color combo is really nice. Shame that Guarder seems to have stepped away from making OD frames for the gen 4
  5. Another jigsaw puzzle Guarder G19 - steel edition! ---------------------------------------------- Really like the forced barrel tilt and 15mm cylinder that was added in the G19 design. What I didn't really like was the velvety matte black finish that came with the steel slide, so I took a brass brush and some polishing compound and carefully carded most of it off. Not sure how this will affect the corrosion resistance (if there's any left at this point), but really like how the slide is a lighter shade of grey than the frame much like the real steel models prior to the new deep black nDLC finish. Referenced pics of heavily used police trade-in Glocks that have a worn-in tenifer/frying-pan finish and tried to match the dark grey and metallic sheen. Not quite 1:1 but still like how it turned out. Now to get some more weathering on it by using the sh*t out of it? This is the Guarder finish that comes as stock. Guarder calls it "P-process" but I've read that its some form of QPQ finish. It's a flat black/dark grey and the texture feels almost parkerized. If there's any metal experts out there please educate us on what this finish is. Below is an RS example of a heavily worn police trade in gen 3. The light grey hue is more from the reflection at certain angles On a side note, a company called RST does produce a true-to-spec tenifer finished steel slide for Marui G19's (seen below) but for the price (£100 vs £1,000) I don't think you can really do better than Guarder..
  6. Jokes aside, Glocks without light rails are the shit. Really nice looking one you got there!
  7. Is that one of those porcelain slides I keep hearing about?
  8. Playing around with some editing trying to make it look like an ad? Can you smell the Americana coming through the screen
  9. Damn. I thought it would've been 3d printed... Like it would come out of a whirring machine all in one piece Looking at the build it looks like it's all crafted from flat bits of plastic
  10. Sorry for stealing the pic @alxndrhll but I saw the flannel and jeans and had to do it lol
  11. Guarder's anodizing (they call it PQP?) always looks good as it ages and weathers. Not sure how they do it... Really nice looking sig
  12. That is nice. Wonder how the P80 frames scallop the mag release area so much without grinding through the frame
  13. How are you liking the Guarder complete frame set? I'm thinking of trying a full Guarder Glock like this myself By the way why does the outer barrel have a different serial number??
  14. That makes sense! Still curious how massive the gas cylinder must be to reciprocate the action like that though
  15. Someone with some serious engineering skillz made a functioning Lynx gbbr. Have you ever seen recoil like this (out of a tiny little glock mag no less)?????
  16. You gotta show us that full auto!!! FA NS.mp4
  17. Now I just need a black leather holster and only speak in eccentric catchphrases
  18. Along with the potential for breaking, propane (green gas, power gas etc.) has less compressibility than 134/144 gas. Meaning that you can't fill as much volume in the mag. Not sure how much this translates to number of shots fired but the difference is tangible in my experience. If you really do want to use stronger gasses what I do is mix them. Fill about 70% with 144a and "top it off" with green gas. You get the benefit of FPS and kick from heavier gasses and 144's compressibility for volume. That being said I only use power gases on metal guns
  19. I see it as a side effect of being a 1st world country; bureaucracy I guess? I've lived in places where real firearms were more available than airsoft, and also places where laws regarding airsoft were even more ridiculous than the UK. I agree I understand the logic behind it but I am curious though; has there been any high-profile case in the UK where a RIF was used in a crime? Or do people get mugged with replicas a lot? What happened in the mid 2000's in the UK that suddenly made airsoft so evil?
  20. Still in the ideation stage of a new build but wanted some feedback. Not sure if I should commit or not just yet as it might be a lot of work. The more I look into it it seems doable... Please convince me otherwise ------------------------------------------------------------ Been toying around with an idea of an Heirloom Precision build. Ran into this image on Heirloom Precision's website. They're a RS high-end 1911 custom shop that takes your base 1911 and does a whole bunch of cool stuff to it (for a whole bunch of money). I really like the juxtaposition of the old school slide with the modern stuff like Heine sights slathered on it. I've seen some airsoft builds of the Street Kings 1911 which also sports a 1911a1 slide with custom fitted sights so I know people have done it in the past; I'm just not sure I can do it -From another user on arniesairsoft a long long time ago. Note the hicapa sight on the 1911a1 slide The plan is to buy this Guarder series 70 kit with the small peephole sights And fit MEU sights like this I have the Heine sights, so just need to cut the dovetails to MEU spec. Looking at the plastic slides for the TM 1911a1 and MEU there seems to be enough material to remove on the a1 model. Will have a practice run on the plastic slide and post updates. Wish me luck...
  21. 1. No more so than anything metallic 2. No, prep is identical Can I play devil's advocate here and maybe suggest changing the parts to aftermarket (ie. nylon fiber frames & alu slides)? I suggest that since cerakote is not permanent (esp. if you use kydex holsters) and you could just upgrade the shiny part itself for the same cost or just slightly more. Added to this I don't believe you can use the bake-on H series or Elite series cerakote on plastic. It will have to be air-cured C series which I equate to very good quality spray paint... Sure you might lose some performance with metal slides but if it's the aesthetics you're after I think it's money better spent.
  22. Those are some nice looking guns. I also am thinking of getting a nice V10 build done sometime soon. Good news is Guarder seem to be revisiting some of the 1911 variants (govt / hicapa / v10) and creating new upgrade parts for them which is pretty nice. V10 slide & frame kit seem to be next on the agenda, along with a steel inner chassis which is a first for any manufacturer to make for 1911's P.S. There's some talk on other forums confirming that Guarder is planning to release a 1911 STEEL kit pretty soon as well. So Inokatsu will have a pretty decent competitor in terms of affordable steel 1911's -someone confirmed this with Guarder after they released the steel parts recently So hang tight! Cool stuff for the 1911's (incl. V10) should be coming pretty soon
  23. That's really nice. tbh I kinda like the current color scheme. It has the color scheme of a vintage muzzle loader with a browned barrel & blued frame - with a reddot.. lol Throw some wood grips on there and it will become even more confusing?
  24. No worries man, thanks for confirming! That's great that the bureau model slides have bushing notches. Will keep note of that for future builds?
  25. I had this issue too when I installed a magwell. On other forums I've found that guarder baseplates (both thin and extended) can solve this issue. I didn't want to spend any more money though so I just left it as stock and it somehow solved itself? I think the tolerance issue was really small for me and the magwell eventually squeezed the baseplate enough to fit. If you want to go DIY I guess you could carefully file a bevel on the top of the baseplate.. I thought of doing this but thankfully the issue solved itself
