No wonder it looked so good... I can't afford to spend £300+ on a light........
-
Could you let me know which brand's x300 that is?
-
I might copy your style and write on holsters for a flannel daddy loadout. What kind of white paint is that?
-
haha if you'd asked me a while back I would've agreed! I thought they looked like someone stuck one of those small hotel soap bars in the triggerguard. I think continuing to look at them a lot made them grow on me. Or it could be that the disgust/trauma from seeing it made me grow affectionate of them; kinda like Stockholm syndrome😂 It seems to be a recent tacticool fad but they do present some practical value as it provides a consistent trigger "press" even if the finger isn't perfectly centered on the trigger More pics to flip you as well

Man that's a mean looking setup! Can I interest you in a Hackathorn-style setup with blacked out rear and fiber front sights? I personally really like the JLP front sights. Because it's so open you can see below the sight picture is even brighter than the 2mm enclosed DP one. Feels as bright as a reddot in daylight. They make a fully open (booster) and semi-enclosed (accelerator) version for the 1911, should fit the army 1911's as well. Rainbow8 has them for ~£16 (~20 with shipping) Only con with JLP is it is a bit blocky with the sharp edges that can catch on holsters and such.. I think it adds a menacing look though Patrolbase seems to have army front fiber's as well, but not sure the quality on these are; they look decent though so check them out -> https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/army-armament-1911-fiber-optic-front-sight

http://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=634_223&products_id=33856 if you have £1k to spare, and can handle proprietary designs that don't have cross compatibility with other aftermarket parts, Nova does make an RMR p-DPO. I want a cool 2011 too but not brave enough to pull that trigger... Otherwise the marui DOR hi capa seems to be the closest lookalike option. Just squint a little when you look at it and you can make any gun look like something you want 😂

That looks awesome!!! Can you also share when you have it printed? Really curious as to how it comes out. That thing is going to look killer 👍
-
I think the Cow Cow grip with the trigger undercut and flat trigger matches with the "tactical" look of the slide. All three options look pretty cool though Flat triggers look good on tactical 1911's as well!

Thanks! If you have a 1911 that's going to be refinished I would highly recommend trying it out 👍 really makes a world of a difference

The sharp edges from the thumb and grip safety on my TRP was chewing up the webbing on my supple medium sized hands, so I made a quick weekend project out of blending the grip safety into the frame. -------------------------------------------------- The guarder thumb safety for the V10 model has the correct design for a springfield style safety, but has a 90 degree edge which really digs in to the web of your hand. You can see the RS safety comes with a rather steep bevel to prevent this. I had initially ground this out a bit, but still wasn't enough for my sensitive hands. Similar issues with fitting a hi-capa grip safety to a 1911 frame. The Nova grip safety is really good quality but just doesn't fit correctly with the Guarder frame. Was originally going to mark the grip safety blue to make sure I didn't alter the shape of it too much. Unfortunately I got the wrong marking fluid, should have gotten dykem blue layout fluid but got the non-drying kind instead. Ended up smearing the blue everywhere Blended the grip & thumb safety, both in the engaged position. Initial grind with half-round file Removed file marks with sandpaper. Remnants of the blue smurf paste seen in the background Finished results. Might clean up the uneven angles on the thumb safety a bit more, but pretty pleased how it turned out as it is. Now the grip safety portion feels like grabbing on to a stick of butter. Now I just need to decide a cerakote color to refinish... What do you think? Should I go with the original bushed/bead-blasted two tone (left) or a overall satin stainless color (right)? I don't think springfield offers this two-tone brushed finish on their TRP's, and only does this on their "loaded" models. P.S. Tutorial for you handymen to try it out if you'd like

Thanks! Had to troubleshoot a lot to get the parts to jibe together but really happy how it turned out. The barrel is an AM comp ready barrel (16mm I think?), and the hammer I got from WIItech. Never heard of them so was a bit of a gamble but it turned out to be CNC'd and properly blued as well; would recommend them if you want a commander hammer

Finally done with the bowling pin build! With the massive comp it won't even fit in my pistol case anymore🙃
-
I really enjoy creating custom builds based on real-steel counterparts, and take a lot of inspiration from what other airsofters have built. I can't seem to find any dedicated pistol threads here; so I'm starting a thread where we can share some customized pistols. Curious to see all of your cool custom pistol builds, so feel free to show off some of your one-of-a-kind handguns! ---------------------------------------- I'll kick it off with a recently finished build. Based it off a "bowling pin" 1911 that's used in competitive shooting circles. -> https://www.thearmorylife.com/bowling-with-a-pistol-a-guide-to-pin-shooting/ These types of handguns are usually older, base model 1911's retrofitted with all the modern upgrades such as adjustable sights, and ridiculous compensators. Did some research and found that this was a style of 1911 popularized in the 70's~90's by people like Bill Wilson (Wilson Combat). Think of it as what resto-modding older cars are, just for guns. Started off as a basic MEU with a guarder slide and frame, but now complete with a commander-style hammer, tung oil finished wood grips with custom cutouts, and compensator. I've also upgraded all the internals such as the BBU and sears/disconnectors. Pretty much done at this point but I might throw on a ridiculously long inner barrel to match the length of the comp. Otherwise, looks as massive as it does in the pics and shoots like a dream Tried reverse-crowning the barrel while waiting for the comp to arrive. A gunsmithing technique where the barrel is cut inwards at an angle, used to increase accuracy. Pretty sure doesn't work on airsoft outer barrels but still, looks cool as hell Real steel pin-shooting 1911:

All I saw was the pulse rifle haha😂 does it actually show you the roundcount as well? EDIT: HOLY SHIT IT DOES
-
Ah, I see. Thanks! I guess I'll have to use a local CNC machining service. Looking at it now and it seems like it'll be ~£45. Now I just need to call them up and ask if they take powerpoint instead of CAD😂

Hi all, Had a quick question for you engineers on this thread. Does anyone know where/how I can get machining work done to an aluminum slide? I can't seem to find any airsoft specific machine shops in the UK that do CNC/milling. Wondering if anyone here has tried something like this. I have a 7075 aluminum slide on my G18c and wanted to do some slide windows/ports as shown in the image. While the general concept is to have something that looks crude and homemade (done over the trades and such), I don't think a DIY job with hand tools would suffice; any reccomendations? I have no knowledge of working with metals and not even sure if milling is what I should be looking for.. Let me know what you think P.S. please don't mind my precision-engineered design example using Microsoft Powerpoint

Hey all, looking to see some pics of well-used examples of your custom coated guns! I have some parts that I could only get in stainless, when ideally I wanted a matte black finish. As an alternative I'm considering getting these coated matte black, and wanted to know if any of you have experience with custom coating such as Cerakote or pvd/dlc. From time to time I see some mint Hi capa's & AEG's on here that have custom Cerakote finishes, but I'm curious as to how well these finishes hold up; let's say after a few game days or so? Does it wear naturally like a anodized/black-oxide finish would? Or does it wear in scrapes and chips like paint? How well does it hold up on controls like selectors and safeties where there's a lot of hand contact? Googling "Cerakote durability" just brings up a bunch of Cerakote propaganda from the company itself, and looking at that it seems like some god-tier finish better than most if not all🤨 Is this actually true? Would love to see some real-world examples from actual users.. I've attached a pic I found on a forum discussing Cerakote durability on RS firearms.

Thanks! The base gun was a TM MEU. I used the frame of a springfield MEU kit from Guarder, and the slide is a hi capa 5.1 slide also from Guarder. I wanted to have the adjustable hi capa sights on a 1911 frame, along with rear-only slide serrations like a SA range officer. Rest of the parts are a mix of AM, Guarder, and Nova

Nice to see people actually using them in skrimishes! I might get some extra mags and try it out as well.. tbh I wish companies made aftermarket steel inner frames for the 1911 like they do for marui glocks; even with the aluminum kit and stainless parts it's ~.8 kg

Any 1911 fans out there? Here's the latest build that I tried. It won't be replacing my glock for skirmishes anytime soon, but a cool build nonetheless.. Did you know people do bowling with 1911's? Apparently it's called "pin shooting" and there are specific styles of 1911's catered to that. Here's the post that inspired this build -> https://www.thearmorylife.com/bowling-with-a-pistol-a-guide-to-pin-shooting/ Wanted to get a short compensator like the real-steel examples in the article, but couldn't find any similar so I went with a 45" muzzle chamfer instead. With the looser tolerances of airsoft it doesn't look as blended to the bushing as RS, but I think I like it. I had to learn the hard way that stainless takes a lot longer than you think to grind out using hand tools...😅 In certain angles it makes the bore of the outer barrel look bigger than it actually is some real-steel examples that I referenced:
