1980s sas iranian embassy seige loadout
AirSniper replied to parramoom's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
The Special Services can wear anything and still be scary, even going in dressed as Ronald McDonald would *hit anyone up... -
I agree that this is the most likely scenario. Fuses just don't blow without an overload from a high current draw.
-
It looks like it already has a roller on the hammer. The top slide is also rubbing on this spring, which can't be good.
-
Yeah, my bad there.. I was at to see where it is rubbing, its an old engineers trick that is cheap and quick when you run out or the engineers blue or permanent similar product. I'd use a sharpie if I could get the tip in but its one of those big ones. When its been cycles a few more times, I will see what the grease situation is like, where there is definite bare metal should tell me where the top slide is warped. I have some others he can use for the time being, I'd like to sort this out myself. Unless I can show the shop any proof of its weirdness, they really don't want to see it again, they didn't say that but it was the vibe I got, didn't appreciate the sniggering between the two youth trying to spin a time served a yarn. I don't bring issues to the table unless they actually exist. This is what has annoyed me the most, I don't like my time wasted and by that measure, I don't like to waste others time. I don't suppose you have a source for a full size engineers drawing exploded view of the EU17? The ones in the booklets are too small and blurred, need something that I can zoom in to as I would like to learn how to strip and maintain my own kit. As you can see from some of those images that the slides have grease on them and no bare metal, the bare metal had grease on them... I expect some of that to be normal wear, however, some of it doesn't seem to me to be what you would consider normal and IMHO is the result of the slide being warped.
-
Yes, all my others are TM's except this one, it was the only G17 that the store had in stock, so I got one because the one TM he was using, I liked and he wanted a glock.. Guess I will be sourcing a TM G17 for his birthday then... Pictures show where the slide is rubbing and also catching when it locks open. The BB is there in one shot to show the position I find BB's in when its playing up. I don't have a macro lens for close up, this is the best I could do with what I have.

Another Airsoft site gone… (InRange Birmingham)
AirSniper replied to Leonine's topic in General Discussion
IMHO, apartments or houses or more likely student accommodation, its the new boom industry, university education. My city has suddenly built 10 large student accommodation complexes that each easily takes 3,000 students. Given the number that exist already and that the capacity of the university is less than the capacity of the accommodation, there is no room to expand the universities as they have a maximum number of students that they can take, makes you wonder what is going on with property developers. So don't be surprised if the place has a big complex built on it or apartment bock. -
Question about the WE EU17 Gen4. A very long story short. The Amomax holster has caused an issue with the EU17. It would explain the problem with the top slide not properly returning. What are my options? It was a fairly cheap pistol at £129 but its only 8 weeks old. Shop can't replicate the issue experienced. Not impressed with their final response. It was claimed that the action is normal when I know that it is not as I had been using it for a week prior to giving my son the item and it worked just fine all through NAF and then suddenly, the moment I get an EU17 holster, the pistol starts malfunctioning. What the shop tried to say is that #pic 1 is normal when #pic 2 is normal IF your magazine is empty, what is not normal is the position of #pic 1 when its the result of the slider snagging on part of the body. The holster images are the Amomax EU17 (as it was sold to me as) for the EU17 and as you can see, the small size variance is causing the holster to come in contact with the main body of the top slide and the top sight. I did grease and oil parts to try and limit the problem, however... its still happening. Any suggestions on how I can adjust the top slide so its going to be like it used to be?

I really enjoyed the game play that I took part in, even it it was limited. It was more for my son to experience and he enjoyed it that much he wants to go again. We were on the "Others" team, thought after the first day, the game was lost ... in terms of the bounty collected, the camp got attacked not long after I left to go back to camp. I knew I heard someone in the bushes, likely a recon, went and had a look but couldn't see owt because I had no glasses, need the prescription eypros to see anything. The other guys were not convinced, guess I was right. All good fun.
-
Back to basics... 1. Clean the barrel. 2. Wind the hop up back to minimum then try adjusting to get desired result. My sons G&G GC16 had issues, the hop up and dirt were the problems that was causing inconsistent shot placement. Once cleaned and adjusted, problem solved.

Yes... I wanted to sort out a costume but didn't have the courage to wear a "Hitman" type costume, the reason was it would have made me look like a WWII SS officer.
-
Its up to you. When you start introducing "rules" for a game / sport, thats when the fun gets up and leaves. I'd say that the golden rule is if its offensive in terms of it breaking the law type offensive. I tried to get a replica of the SBS patch for my son as his grandfather was an SBS instructor / trainer but no one does them, so I got a replica SAS instead. What you refer to is what some call "Stolen Valour" which if you have the genuine uniform and wear the insignia and pose as an ex serviceman which some people do but not heard of it happening in Airsoft as everyone knows its a game and not posing as a former military personnel. You get a fair few ex servicemen playing airsoft, so if it was a case of it being an issue, you'd be seeing posts and comments and outrage about it.

I took my son to the NAF21 event this year. Did anyone else go? Some of the in-game objectives, brief cases, laptops, intelligence, suspect powder in packets, gold... If you went, what was your take on the event? --------------------------------------------------- IDK who the muppets were but getting an "Oh yeah" at 2 am in the morning is a *!$%£ take and after the 20th time asking in an evening, got old very quick. That was the one thing that let the event down the most, idiots, yeah, let off steam but on the course, not in camping where young kids and families were also camping, some people have go zero consideration, as long as they're having a good time, stuff everyone else.... and this was in the "QUIETER" camping. Other than that, well worth the money for the organisation of the game play.

Hard to do anything on this site as a newbie
AirSniper replied to Nubby's topic in General Discussion
I am a relative newbie and not experienced any issues, the site is a nice site to navigate, takes a bit of thinking to get in to your head the way the site is structured and is laid out in a very clean and logical manner. Of the sites I have visited and been members of, its a very easy forum to get around. Only thing I'd like to see is an option for a "Dark Theme" is in the users settings and not hidden at the foot of the page, something to pass on to the developers as an option to add in as that is the most logical place and where it resided in 1,000's of forums for the last 30 years so why did they change it? You don't fix what aint broke... I suggest you lurk for a bit until you are familiar with the forum layout, thats what I did. -
Need suggestion to select good airsoft sniper
AirSniper replied to pistolzone's topic in General Discussion
Questions one person posed to my son who wants to jump right in to sniper role... How long have you been playing airsoft? How many are in your team that you are in? To which his responses showed he lacked both experience in the sport as well as lacking a team. In confidence a long time player and ex military guy said he lacks discipline and showed me footage which I was grateful for as he was confronted both by me and the guy with the evidence as far as some of his game play conduct not being compatible with the objective of the game in play. I'd say give a couple of years before you consider it and save up for the beast you want. As for which one, if you still insist on jumping in immediately, then the advice is to hire site rifles and see how it goes as you may find you spend £500 and wish you had bought other RIF's instead. Seen more than a few adverts for snipers that are hardly used for sale... Think about why that is. -
The G & G have different numbers, they look similar to serial numbers in a company I worked for used. Just looking to see if my hypothesis is correct, my sons RIF was sat waiting around for 2 years before hitting the shelf whereas mine was made in 2020 given the way the serials begin, a year progression. eg, 1902 is the first 4 of my sons, 2008 is the first 4 of mine. So I took that to be YY WK format. Which would mean that his was made in January of 2019 and mine was end of February beginning of March 2020.

So maybe it is his spring is not as hot as mine... Mine is the right hand one btw... (*10387) in this set of figures. Does anyone know how G & G serials are made up? All manufacturers use some format like Year, week, batch, production run number as some form, anyone know what G &G uses?

Ok, thanks for the input. I plan on trying to collate information and heavier weight BB's as well. I have two G&G GC16 warthogs, one is my sons, its had a little longer to run in, the difference between his and mine is quite significant. I have only run 0.25's through and there is a difference... ------------------------------------- Rifle GC16 Warthog Rifle GC16 Warthog Serial *0064 Serial *10387 Shot BB Wt. grams Shot BB Wt. grams Count 0.2 0.25 Count 0.2 0.25 1 281.7 1 290.8 2 280.0 2 294.2 3 280.9 3 292.2 4 280.5 4 291.8 5 281.5 5 289.8 6 282.1 6 291.7 7 282.0 7 294.8 8 281.0 8 294.1 9 282.4 9 293.3 10 272.0 10 292.5 Min 0.0 272.0 Min 0.0 289.8 Ave 0.0 280.4 Ave 0.0 292.5 Max 0.0 282.4 Max 0.0 294.8 Mean 0.0 278.3 Mean 0.0 292.4 Joules Joules Min 0.00 0.92 Min 0.00 1.05 Ave 0.00 0.98 Ave 0.00 1.07 Max 0.00 1.00 Max 0.00 1.09 Mean 0.0 1.0 Mean 0.0 1.1 -------------------------------------------- I'd say that either my sons rifle needs a service or seals, there is about a 12% difference between his and mine. So when I got time tomorrow, I will be running a set of 0.2's through the rifles.

Another RIF incident in the news... Its only a matter of time now
AirSniper replied to Oneshotscott's topic in Latest News
Simple, each RIF has to have a serial number and it is registered to that individual like in an RFD the RIF is passed from the shop as owner to the client that purchased and if they want to sell, to be sold via any shop that deals with RIF's and stop selling privately as that is how these things end up in idiots hands. Theft is another way, people should stow their equipment in gun cabinets that are bolted to a sturdy wall and only brought out to play when needed. As long as selling a RIF has to be done via a broker or a shop, then you safeguard from these things ending up being used in criminal activity. Making it an offence to possess one that is not registered to you or family member, who would be responsible for that individual RIF and should not be allowing unauthorised use of the RIF. Loopholes can be closed with legislation and strict controls on the sale or movement, as long as responsible players comply, the sport lives on, otherwise, these individuals are only going to spoil it for thousands of people who find the sport invaluable. If it comes to it, the game could become close membership situation like when gun clubs close their doors to new membership, sites may do just that, shutter its doors to all new members. IMHO the guy needs to be given 10 years minimum as a warning and example to others who would think of using RIF's or Imitation firearms in criminal activity. -
I have just run some BB's of 0.2g and 0.25g through some of the Airsoft pistols (GBB) and also Rifles, AEG's I am not sure what to make of the results. I used the averages and used the average to get a joules value. The results are as follows. Pistol Manuf: Pistol Manuf: Pistol Manuf: Glock 17 Gen 4 WE OPS Tactical .45 Tokyo Marui Beretta M92 Tokyo Marui Shot BB Wt. grams Shot BB Wt. grams Shot BB Wt. grams Count 0.2 0.25 Count 0.2 0.25 Count 0.2 0.25 1 306.9 293.7 1 301.1 267.6 1 301.8 273.4 2 309.2 287.4 2 297.1 256.3 2 297.9 270.8 3 305.3 287.4 3 293.8 254.3 3 296.4 270.2 4 302.5 285.4 4 291.4 259.4 4 295.6 268.8 5 303.4 286.5 5 292.1 262.4 5 294.8 268.2 6 278.0 285.0 6 290.3 262.3 6 293.5 270.0 7 296.6 284.6 7 288.7 263.2 7 283.2 267.9 8 295.6 282.6 8 289.5 262.1 8 290.6 267.5 9 292.9 281.9 9 288.3 258.5 9 285.9 266.0 10 288.4 281.1 10 285.1 258.6 10 285.4 265.6 Min 278.0 281.1 Min 285.1 254.3 Min 283.2 265.6 Ave 297.9 285.6 Ave 291.7 260.5 Ave 292.5 268.8 Max 309.2 293.7 Max 301.1 267.6 Max 301.8 273.4 Mean 295.0 286.8 Mean 292.6 260.8 Mean 292.5 269.3 Joules Joules Joules Min 0.77 0.99 Min 0.81 0.81 Min 0.80 0.88 Ave 0.89 1.02 Ave 0.85 0.85 Ave 0.86 0.90 Max 0.96 1.08 Max 0.91 0.90 Max 0.91 0.93 Mean (J) 0.9 1.0 Mean (J) 0.9 0.9 Mean (J) 0.9 0.9 There appears to be ZERO advantage to using heavier BB's with exception to the Glock17 I used the KE = 1/2 m V2 to calculate the joules. Question... do the values look right as I have no reference, unless someone can point me to a source that I can compare to, I have no idea on the health or state of the equipment. Question... does using heavier weights pose more wear on the pistol? They all have the "Hop up" in them, so would the heavier BB's wear out the hop up faster? I'd appreciate thoughts on this as I am fairly new to airsoft.

Hello from Robin Hood Country. I may be lurking in the shadows, looking for the opportunity to AirSnipe some info out of you guys... Watch out... I lurk in the shadows... Was that rustling me or a bird..! 😄 LOL.
