  1. Whatever floats your boat man! Live and let live. Its just PERSONALLY I don't like external tanks. Nothing kills a rif faster than a hose for me. White sticks of death aren't my thing again because I enjoy a realistic rate of fire. And the amount of money people spend swapping out perfectly good parts amuses me. But there is no wrong way to play Also I'm adding people who load up and piss away half their ammo before the whistle goes shooting at trees or puddles. Mugs
  2. How I got in airsoft I'm a model and prop maker. One day passing the gadget shop I saw a 1911 on the wall (this was well before the vcra) and thought that looked useful. I spent the £35 and walked away with a rather nice spring pistol. A bit of weathering and modification and it was perfect. So I went back and picked up a few more types. Looking through the manual rule 1, never shoot it at someone. Well that's a no brainer! Firearms safety on set is a big concern and a big part of why I thought these would be useful for extras. I went back to the shop to see what else he could get hold of and out came the smk catalogue full of gas pistols and AEG's. He asked me how I was enjoying playing. I asked what the hell he was talking about! Turns out there was a game where you was actually supposed to shoot at each other, so I went. And I was hooked. What I like Realistic nature of the weapons. Ability to run themed or historical games. The community is normally quite friendly and welcoming. They will happily pass you their latest shiney in the safe zone to look at. What I don't like. HPA weapons. It seems like a giant step backwards to run external air. You are not telling me in this day and age someone can't fit a custom tank inside a gun. Ultra rof. Why do you need to shoot 40 a second from an AK? People who "upgrade" guns before they pull the trigger once. Take it to a game, give a go for the day. THEN decide if something needs doing. Health benefits. Definitely, be it physical or mental!
  3. Well that's that mystery solved... Tested the gearbox independently away from the gun and the little latch did bugger all. Upon opening the gearbox I found it had cracked around the screw and bent backwards. So it won't engage as it can no longer reach high enough. Should be a simple fix provided I can find the part. Good job it didn't split completely and mince the gears! EDIT: Picked up a complete scorpion gearbox for £30 from airsoft world. Looks like I can nick the part out of that. At the least I'll have a spare set of gears and piston assembly
  4. I'm surprised there aren't more type 56's around, I believe it was just the real sword available. There are some truly iconic gun missing. It's a pity no one cloned the TM uzi. I know there is a gas one coming at some point but AEG's will always sell better. A newly tooled gas spas would be lovely! Im thinking more along the lines of mass produced weapons like the sks rather than a G11 or AN94. I was rather hoping after marui gave the MP7 the gas treatment they would do the same for the mac10. But there appears to be no interest in it.
  5. Airsoft is a funny old game. I got into it purely by accident. I'm a model and prop maker by trade and picked up a couple for projects well before the vcra. It was a way to get hold of otherwise unobtainable firearm replicas or certainly much cheaper than deactivated weapons. Over the years they have covered most of the mainstream weapons but there are quite a few missing links in the chain. Now with a sea of armalite derivatives and G&G's campaign of 9mm everything its looking like the mainstream manufacturers are perhaps tightening their focus. But in a world of so many guns I wonder why some have been ignored. Examples... Modernised FA-MAS, or at least a stanag version. Any HK machine gun British Gpmg or bren Now I'm not suggesting that Marui start turning out calico's by the thousands but how about a TM makarov or PPK? Would these not sell? I have perhaps a bias to historic weapons but I'm sure there are other modern weapons that are ripe for replicating. So what's missing?
  6. I was planning (eventually) to go with 8 mags. One in the rifle and seven in a bandolier. Or alternatively 4 in each standard m56 ammo pouch.
  7. The power is on the low, side yes but the TM hop floats them out there. For a night game it's pure murder in the dark with the can on. UZI wise I'm waiting for the North East full steel beastie due at some point.
  8. That sounds cool as F. Not too worried about length as I use an AEG version quite regularly. Although they all have the rather unusual pitfall of being too nicely made! The handguards should be plastic fantastic. On the CA they are a rock solid nylon affair. Very well made! But strangely too nice.
  9. Cheers, I did have a look through YouTube a while back, its all battery mods and shooting tests. I'll have a play with it again. It's been on the to-do list for a while lol. Nice little cannon though!
  10. Cheers, looks like I will treat myself then Not worried about the 20 round mags as I often run a shotgun with 10 to a reload. Now it's just the choice of M16 or xm177... I'm leaning towards the M16 and fitting the real furniture.
  11. Cheers. Is there a particular trick you have found to locating it during assembly?
  12. Yes. A slide under the body by the trigger for safe and fire, and a separate lever on the side for semi and auto. It's just in movies you only see full auto mag dumps
  13. Hello chaps. I have a marui mac10 that was rescued from a shed. I had to replace some of the wiring as it had turned a lovely shade of blue... I managed to get the original parts and fit them so thats good. The only issue I have is that it is now full auto only. I can't see any reason for this as its electrically sound. The only thing I can think of is there is a little sliding bar that the gearbox sits in to work the fire selector in the gearbox. Maybe it's an assembly issue? I've had it apart a few times now so you would have thought I'd of got luck once... Is there a trick to this as you can't actually see it during assembly.
  14. Thanks. So if you didn't already have one you'd order one now regardless of what marui might do?
  15. It's not just airsoft stuff either. The Mr's has a canvas print stuck in the system coming from Europe.
  16. Terminal boy, now there's a name from the past! One of my all time favourite moments from any skirmish was at TB. Our team was approaching the valley. The bit with the bad ass drop off and thick bushes below. Every time anyone came near the edge we has shot by an unseen enemy force. This resulted in a stack of people just off the lip not moving. Someone lobbed a smoke out and we all run up on full blasting into the thick vegetation. It was like that bit on predator where they drop the jungle. After a couple of seconds we heard HIT HIT HIT. The enemy force? A single man with a western arms infinity. What a defence! I'm sure that was terminal boy. My first game there was an absolute beat down. I don't recall a single confirmed kill. It was quite a steep learning curve. But my point is if it wasn't a good site with a good bunch of people I could have taken that beating and thought airsoft is not for me. But instead I was hooked and couldn't wait for the next game.
  17. For a long time now I've been after a decent Gbbr for vietnam themed loadouts. The only option really is the WE system for an M16 or carbine. As a working skirmish gun is it worth the money? I've held off as ever since marui brought out the 20 round mags. I've been hoping someone would make a classic receiver for the system. Or even one for the GHK system. So it looks like my only option is the WE for now. Yes there are AK's for a macv-sog loadout but I'm specifically talking about the colt line. Thanks.
  18. That must of been about when I was there running a pair of MP5K's The admiral and beaker ruled the roost in those days. No three games to ukara then, it was three games until you could wear the tech brigade patch. Good Times. Trying to remember who was there. There was a new guy went by Pish. A guy with an impossibly quiet phantom Aug went by Silent smoke, Simon the man from uncle/vietnam guy... Mayhem taking over, I don't know. Is that the 60% smaller area Rob was talking about or the whole thing? One of the great things about Tech brigade though was the Marshall's in play. Made for an honest game. No point in not taking a hit when Rob might be the one pegging you with an Aps2. Good honest crowd. Been many years since I was there.
  19. I think that's about right. But I don't think what I paid should make any difference. A bargain is a bargain. In any event I'm not selling at the moment just wasnt sure what it's actually worth if circumstances change
  20. It was a chap giving up airsoft with an "everything must go double quick" sale. Paid £250, wasn't going to pass on that. Generally it only comes out at Christmas games with reindeer antlers fitted. Not something I would use all the time. But super fun. Unlike its big brother its mechanically reliable.
  21. A pistol can be useful depending on the situation. If I'm running a machine gun or grease gun and I go to a semi only area then I do NEED a pistol as the main gun has no fire selector. Also if running a weapon with a MED then you will need a pistol. For average pew though... I've taken, gassed, loaded and holstered a pistol many times and the most action its had is removing the mag to enter the safe zone. But then there are moments when it's saved my arse. One particularly epic one on a bunker when my battery died. My team mate steve was running low. I chucked him SLR mags, he chucked me 1911 mags. We held out and won the game.
  22. I've used most, the TM has a couple of niceties over the clone like the cocking handle. However... It is over priced now days. When TM were the only game in town fair enough, but now days I wouldn't buy one. The loading nozzle on TM range are prone to break and unobtainable. The clones (spas/m3) actually have better internals at the expense of some of the externals like cocking handles. I would buy a asg M3 if it was my money. That said, if you have £170 to throw at a spas have a look at octagon airsoft. You can get a clone with a stock that's well made. Perfect for dinosaur hunting! https://www.octagonairsoft.com/product-page/copy-of-marui-spas-12-air-cocking-shotgun-w-phoenix-spas-12-folding-stock No connection
  23. Nice review, I would encourage you to come again. The sight has been taken over by new owners and is being redeveloped. There are a few new game types and some older areas being used regularly like the old pillbox. They do run fall back games, and a fun one with many barrels around you have to get back to base. Or you can raid the enemy's stash if they're all out hunting. I like the sight as you can't play the whole place in one day. I have found everyone there are quite friendly
