FFS, Sorry we missed you card on the floor by the front door. Stealth postman today Maybe I can begin tomorrow?
-
Unfortunately, no matter how intensely I stared at the postman, there were no Hicapa parts in his sack. The SSP1 is now arguably as well put together now as it was when it arrived
-
Mr Magnon, I hope you win the day!

Right, here we go. Hopefully some knowledgeable souls will keep an eye on this build and let me know when I'm being a tit. Long story short, When I was getting back into airsoft I dusted off a 12-13 year old Unicorn Aks74u and ran about my local site for a bit, Novritsch was gaining a bit of a following online and was about to release the SSP1, I got my UKARA and jumped aboard the hype train. A little while and a fair few games later, the slide has a lot of play laterally, the slide stop has worn to the point of moving and fouling on the slide, stopping all movement and the thumb safety is so loose that it almost always ends up being set when I draw the gun. Taking it all apart to have a look, there were bits missing (the springs the put tension on the thumb safety for example), and the tolerances on parts like the frame are pretty poor. It is after all a cheap KJW frame with some key Nineball parts. I've taken this as an opportunity to turn the SSP1 into something that (hopefully) other players don't think "Well, he's a cnut" when they see it and doesn't look or feel like a toy. The funny thing is it only the externals that I have an issue with, the BBU, piston, Hop unit and barrel all seem pretty good. I dare say it' was actually my best performing GBB pistol. I've ordered a TM lower frame so that noone can see the dreaded Novritsch logo and will be building from there but let it be known that this is essentially going to be a well dressed SSP1. If anyone with experience of a mid-tier Hicapa build (looking to keep it under £400) wants to step in and point me toward critical internal changes, I'm all ears. My thoughts are that when skirmishing the SSP, I always wished it was better made but have never wished that it performed better, it has always been pretty faultless. The first lot of bits should be here in the next couple days so I'm looking forwards to getting stuck in and any advice will be greatly appreciated

Some HiCapa parts to disguise the Novristch SSP1 I bought when I got back into Airsoft -
My latest lockdown-boredom project has reached its vomit inducing climax... Boneyard Cyma Thompson King Arms Silver body Hydrodipped furniture 13:1 SHS Gears SHS Swiss cheese piston SS 3 teeth Bearing piston head Bearing spring guide M105 Macaron 50* SHS High torque Rewired for Gate Nanohard in stock InSpIrEd By A rEaL GuN, iF yOu SuRvIvEd NoRmAnDy WiThOuT tAkInG a HiT, yOu WeRe GiVeN a ChRoMe ToMmY edit - The hop doesn’t like the Maple leaf rubber. It’s a prommy purple now and it’s sitting at 305 FPS with 0.25’s. Bugger all deviation

AKMSU hand guard finally arrived, looks great, feels awesome. Had to sneak in a picture of the Combat Union rotary hop, awesome piece of geardo-porn

I got bored over the weekend and picked up a Boneyard Cyma M1A1 as a project. I'm toying with the idea of Bought a Chrome body from Airsoft Tiger and I've got some Carbon Fibre Vinyl Wrap kicking around... Chrome and Carbon Tommy gun anyone? -
I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread. My better half has actually shown an interest in attending and I’d love for her to get the bug! If they can run a sustained series of games with the current regs, I’ll doff my cap to them and explain to the wife it’s safe to have a crack! (That way I could actually be honest about how many guns I actually have...)

The prevalence of these things makes me quite nervous. It’s easier than most people think to give someone permanent hearing damage. Where I play is all outdoors so it would be extremely unlikely (or unlucky) for someone to end up seriously affected but indoor sites, where build materials generally have an extremely low absorption coefficient and players would be in closer proximity to the device would be a ideal scenario for hearing loss or damage. -
I find it interesting the trend with 2nd hand Novritsch Sales: A.) How many Novritsch items come up for sale unskirmished. B.) How similar so many of the listings are (only used for backyard plinking) C.) I bought this two days ago but now I’m leaving Airsoft forever, press F to pay respects. It makes me suspect that the Novritsch team has become less stringent on checking for a defence as so many of these seem to have been bought by people who are not active skirmishers. Maybe a “sales a sale” attitude has been adopted to get through a tough time? Still, it’s a second hand item and the price is silly if he wants to tempt someone to by his one instead of just buying a new unit from NV.

AirsoftPro M249 Hop chamber V2, ML Macaron 50, ML Nub and a SHS High Torque motor. I had to see it to believe it just how bad those A&K M249 hops were. Hopefully the V2 AirsoftPro is an improvement! -
I’ve been trying to find more garish crap to stick to it. I want people to assume it’s a POS... Internally it’s a pretty mean build. 9:1 DSG on a ASG Infinity 22000 kicks out a fair bit of plastic and the mags keep up with 0.28’s.

Finally a Silver Madbull Noveske amplifier arrived from Italy, I think this is now as eye-searingly ugly as an M4 can get! Personally I’m quite fond of it, might have to paint some flames on my Atacs gear to complete the “total dickhead” look though
-
After seeing so many Zenitco Handguard rails on 74u’s recently I felt compelled to remove mine! Happy with how it’s looking now. Also, my little M4 DSG thing has hit puberty, Vltor receiver and a low profile 7” handguard have given a much more aggressive look to what was intended to be a flashy, gaudy affair. The new Silver castle nut is the latest “shiny bit for the sake of it” addition

Binary was what drew me to the Leviathan in the first place and it’s enabled in that video. It’s a bit risky in a game though, according to my chrono I can get 12rps in Binary mode. It’s too easy to accidentally be a total knob to someone. In the earlier video when I was testing it, it’s set to safe-binary-full Its currently in how it will be skirmished, safe-semi-3rd burst IMG_6949.MOV

There’s a good friendly atmosphere at Finmere and I’m a firm believer in not shitting where I eat. I wouldn’t be a dick to any of the players there and no one there has hosed me when I’ve been out in the open. There’s even someone running a hoselock ghostbuster rig now and even he’s not a twat
-
You needn’t worry. It’s been a lockdown boredom build more than anything. The site I play at run most of their games as semi-only anyway!
-
Quiet day at work, been fiddling again with my M4 DSG build. Think I’ve found the sweet-spot now and depending on battery charge I’m getting between 40/45rps at 300/310fps. Burst mode makes quite a noise and semi auto is nice and snappy! It’s deliberately the ugliest thing externally, internally I think it’s porn. Retro arms Split V2, Jefftron Leviathan, ASG Infinity motor, 9:1 SHS DSG, SHS Swiss cheese piston with 9 teeth left, Polycarb pistonhead, SHS nozzle and the original Specna Cylinder head, Maxx hop unit with Maple leaf Macaron 50 and Omega Nub. edit- one of my staff eats nothing but pot noodles, the empty pots make great phone stands and caddies to keep screws and bolts in IMG_6925.MOV

I caved and bought a Maxx model hop for my little M4. Lockdown has been brutal to my wallet! -
What are the odds? I would offer to swap but the grey looks so good alongside the silver/grey trim. Out of interest do you also suffer from “has it actually turned itself off-itis?”
-
It was originally meant to go on the AK. The seller sent me a Grey unit and not black so it looked a bit out of place. Glad I moved it over as it sits much better on the AR

Lockdown has made for quite a few changes to the ole-loadouts. Here’s everything in their current form. Eotech will be changing to a much smaller RMR style sight on the AK. AK - LCT base. M140 DSG build running 340fps at 35rps on a 7.4V lipo. Combat union AK hop was a pleasure to install and is the nicest Hop I’ve handled. Makarov is rocking a Maple leaf bucking and tensioner with a crazy jet barrel. M4 - Specna base. M140 DSG Running 300fps at c.50rps on an 11.1V lipo. Jefftron Leviathan gives a 5rd burst instead on full auto as I’m not a total div, despite the Novristch SSP1 and Silver trim. L85 - ICS. Stock internals, rewired to a Gate Nano hard. M14 - Cyma base. Wooden stock. Semi auto locked and bang on 450fps with no hop applied. Gate Nano hard in the stock. Hawke scope is lovely and I would thoroughly recommend!

It will just be nice to have an AK style hop that stays set during a game, the slider style always seem to have a mind of their own
