I got 10 minutes out of mine at the weekend and then it made the expensive noise.

Disassembly today reveals a stripped piston, although gears are intact. Anyone know if this is proprietary to the MP5, or if it's common to the AK/G36 series? (doesn't look the same tbh)

Obvious follow up question - where to get one?

Hey mate just happen to be in Camoraids and noticed a ngrs mp5 being worked on and they are using the new FPS TM ak pistons for the mp5 with a lil modification. Worth speaking to them with how long TM spare parts take.

So, I'm experiencing a battery red light issue too.

To preface I also use the Midwest industries handguard and a couple small 7.4v 20C Nuprol lipos.

Skirmished today in semi chilly conditions between 10-15 degrees and played in shady woodland.

The gun would consistently go into safe mode with the red led flashing, swapping batteries would remedy the problem only for a few shots then go into flashing red led mode. Batteries are all balance charged and checked by the organisers for the health of the battery (all 90%> charge and healthy cells.)

After doing some research during lunch mid game, the MOSFET manual states the batteries should be between 20°c - 30°c otherwise will sense low voltage or something and turn off the gun.

The batteries and especially the steel handguard are very very cold to the touch. After leaving the batteries in my rear pocket and holding the steel handguard with bare hands remedied this problem for one round. Then back to going into safe mode, touching the handguard, cold as ice.

Has anyone come across this problem, and have any advice for insulation, or maybe a different battery? really wanted this gun to be my reliable electric gun for winter with the nice Midwest industries handguard set up.

    Thoughts, feelings, condolences?

Yer had this problem on 2 ngrs mp5's with low rate discharge batteries (1000mah) getting really cold and causing that issue. Was solved with bigger batteries on cold days in winter. 2000mah+ worked fine in the freezing cold.

I took mine apart today to see about fitting a AEG tightbore. Turns out the new MP5 uses a inner barrel and hop rubber similar to a GBB.

It's a AEP rubber and proprietary barrel. AEP cut and AEG notch for the clip. God knows why but I'm sure they have a reason.

Getting a battery in seems to be the biggest pain with this, curse my fat fingers. I have ordered some new connectors (Amass MR30) so that I can at least get rid of the adapter to save some space. I'm wondering if the SD conversion has any more room @SonnyMP5 , and I'm also wondering where I can pick up a solid stock to convert.

Or, I guess, I could just have a bit of patience and wait for the inevitable aftermarket support, but that seems unlikely.

Ordered a couple of high-caps off Impulse101 to tide me over until the standards come back into stock anywhere. No idea when they might actually turn up though.

Yer the SD conversion gives you way more room for batteries.

The only thing I don't like about this release is I'm now worried they'll update the recoil line of ARs and the ones I already own will suddenly feel quite obsolete lol.  I am stoked to get my MP5 next week though, I think this is TM's best release in a long time and I like a lot of what they do.

My personal preference isn't the SD aesthetic but I'm sure a lot of people out there will want to know what brand SD handguard and suppressor you have on there so they can make their own.

It would make sense to replace the older NGRS ARs with the new MOSFET and I totally get what you mean too haha.

I already built my own NGRS mp5 before TM announced their own version which I've kept in the original A5 configuration with a magpul guard, Was actually easier to convert the TM version to a SD nothing is made of steel so easy to work with.

    Parts wise you need.

    SD front sight

    Guard and sleeve

    Suppressor

I used ICS parts but they are discontinued so it was hard sourcing everything.

Your'll need some 35mm steel bar and a lathe for the adapter I made. Also be confident with a Dremel and tap and dye set.

  6. Tbh it was time consuming just sourcing the parts I needed. Then factor machining the parts it would be a expensive kit. No doubt by next year laylax or another company will hopefully have built a SD kit or TM might even eventually offer over variants.
