You are possibly the first and only case I’ve ever heard of where mags won’t hold higher pressure gas, sounds like you’ve either got duff mags (doubt) or it’s a fill issue.

As before, what green gas cans have you used? Have you tried purging your mags?

I've used Nuprol, Abbey, and WE regular (2.0/etc.etc. depending on brand), and have genuine TM mags from different vendors that all seem to be constructed and behave the same (inc. the one that came with the MWS). I have tried various things, and do purge the air manually in the way that works for different gun's mags, but it makes no difference to the issue with the MWS mags (unless they obviously have trapped air in and need it, like any other mag sometimes gets. Then it's just, as expected, and continues to have issues with regular GG but is fine with 144a/lower pressure).

The gun & mags are about a year old but never skirmished with yet, only used for plinking for a few hours for a day or two at a time before being cleaned up and put away for a week or two. Mostly just keeping myself and the gun maintained, fresh, and enjoyed. lol.

Thank you all for your attempts to assist btw! I'm stumped so I'm just going to keep running 144a 'cause it works. Obviously I'll keep some regular GG on hand in case it's ever too cold or decides to like it one day but, all my main guns are TM so 144a is recommended anyway, and works on everything reliably lol.

What I assume that happens with the TM mags is that they also purge the air when they are filled. When you install the silent o-ring it negates this feature and your mags will get more air in them on every fill.
    Can anyone confirm?

My mags are stock, haven't touched them until I iron this out and like I said just running 114a in the meantime lol. And I try the common things like purging, angle of fill, timing of fill, etc. - It just legit seems like they don't like anything above that 114a pressure if I wanna actually get any gas in there. When on 144a, they hold plenty and can run multiple full mags of BBs, and consistently pump out auto in most conditions at least for the first mag of the fill. That's all I ask for TBH. But it'd be nice to be able to do that with regular green.

I thought the info saying it was an intentional thing in the latest mags was common, has anyone else heard it, or am I am going mad? xD Not doubting anyone's knowledge or info BTW, I'm just confused about my potentially wrong preconceptions/research so far lmao

  3. Strange, all the replies here to my question about mag filling seem contrary to what I've read elsewhere and my experience. I was under the impression that it was a known/intentional thing whereby TM had their fill valve vent anything over the typical pressure of 144a gas to try and force compliance with the suggestions or something. I found my near-empty regular green gas cans would fill my mags successfully, in a small window before they ran out, and that seemed to back the other info up.

Am I under a totally wrong impression? I've had a TM pistol that I've used and worked on for years and know the ins and outs of, but not so much rifles. So, not total gas noob, but also not quite understanding why this seems to be an issue/the differences in this particular case

Nothing should 'need' to be modded, to run higher power gas. I run mine on ZeroOne gas or currently vorsk V8 as I ran out of ZO. Supposedly you will eventually need to replace the nozzle return spring as this is likely to be the first thing to give from higher powered gas. I'm at around 13k rounds all with standard UK powered gas,  Not 144a and yet to have anything break.

I more mean, the mags just won't take regular gas. I trust the internals of the gun itself to handle regular gas, but in the mags there seems to be some kind of valve that just doesn't allow for it. No matter the fill amount or technique, it just vents it and then only fires like half a mag in semi, or essentially just a burst on auto.

  5. Does anyone have a concise guide to mods needed to run an MWS on regular green gas properly and reliably nowadays?

Either freshly written, or just linking to an old post/thread/anything? I assume it's been discussed before, but occasional reminders are good. Also most stuff seems to be written around the v2 TM mags, I'm pretty sure I have the v3... Or, whatever version is latest. Regular green gas just spews out and only shoots half a mag at most no matter the fill techniques.

I'm just running mine back on low power gas right now as I've found it the most reliable thing to do, but I know a lot of people do run them, or want to run them, on regular pressure green gas given how common it is here in the UK over low pressure gas.

Hey, if you want to remove the FSP, what you will likely want is a 'free float' handguard. This means its torqued down at the receiver and the rest of the rail 'floats' leaving the barrel hovering within the handguard. You will also likely need a barrel nut adapter. As generally the flange on the barrel is too small for most rails, the rail will attach but not clamp the barrel to the receiver. An adapter will solve this. You are also able to fit 'real steel'handguards with the nut adapter too.

Ah ok! Thanks for the info. Every little helps, both me and hopefully any folks seeking to do the same in the future who stumble on these posts lol.

Personally, I think I'll probably end up doing shorter outer barrel & no-notch pistol grip first, then handguard, then anything else. Well, Not including a new sight, that's definitely #1 before everything else - A good optic, even a cheapy red dot, does far more to enhance effectiveness than anything else IMO. Iron sights are usable and I think everyone should practice with them, but if I have the choice of an RDS it's a no brainer in terms of usability IMO lol.

Ultimately depends whether you want picatinny, m-lok or keymod. Keymod is something I've never used (and likely never will), I like some picatinny handguards but usually default to m-lok for the weight saving and the fact the majority of the weapon lights/weapon light mounts and grips are m-lok.

You've got a variety of options open to you, I've only ever put HAO MK16 rails on mine when only swapping out the handguard and/or outer barrel. Have used the 9.3" handguard with a 10.5" outer barrel, the 10.5" handguard with an 11.5" outer barrel and the 13.5" handguard with a 14.5" outer barrel, all are great but for my arms/body I found the 10.5" handguard my sweet spot. Outside of that I've installed full body kits for an SAI GRY and currently have a Noveske N4.

Suggestions for handguards is kind of too broad a question because the handguard is a significant part of what your rif looks like, so aesthetics tends to drive that descision in airsoft because we don't have things like barrels heating up and needing lasers to hold zero for the most part (if you're at the point you care about that you probably own NVGs and have a prety good idea of what you're looking for).

I'll probably stick to picatinny since most of my accessories are that and it's what I'm used to. I'll do some browsing! I'm pretty poor right now anyway so, all modifications are more of a long term plan than likely in the foreseeable future.

TBH mostly I'd be happy with even broad "avoid X brand, Y is generally good value, Z is the best usually" info - If it even matters. Lol. I'm sure I'll find something I like, aesthetically and functionally. Thanks. I'll likely post updates if/when my MWS is looking particularly different to stock in the far future.

I’ve only ever used stock TM or HAO (specifically the 11.5” for the HAO) outers so they’re the only ones I could personally vouch for. A google of ‘MWS 10.5 barrel’ will present you with plenty of options, most if not all will be outside of the UK (something to get used to with the MWS as you change out more parts, not a problem at all, just a note).

If I’ve ever been after an outer barrel for an MWS I tend to put up a wanted post in the classifieds and haven’t generally had to wait long for someone to get in touch that has one available, YMMV.

As for the front sight post (FSP) they’re very easy to remove, two pins on the sides need knocking through and a small grub screw on the underside, but you’ll need to be changing out your rail/handguard if that’s the route you want to take because as it stands the FSP is keeping your handguard together.

Last but not least, my grip vote goes to the BCM Gunfighter, though they seem to be a pain to find at the moment. Or at least were the last time I looked.

I did a bit of goggling but I was finding mostly aftermarket outer barrels and wasn't sure if any are particularly bad, good, great value, bad value, etc., and didn't really see any TM originals spare - But I wasn't really looking super hard. The classified idea is good, thanks for the suggestion!

I had an inkling that I'd have to swap at least something out if I removed the front sight. Would it only be the handguard? I may as well do that if/when I swap the barrel. I guess any suggestions for a good handguard for a short barrel & no front sight triangle/etc. would also be something to ask for. Thanks again for the info, too.

  9. I don't know why but I just don't get along with AEGs traditionally lol. I've always felt more comfortable with mechanical systems over electrical and kind of came into airsoft with more knowledge on real gun function than batteries and gearboxes and stuff.

My backup (besides a GBB pistol, which I've also used alone from time to time either 'cause I felt like it or my primary failed) is a springer trishot shotgun, which before I had an MWS was literally my primary. I guess I just like making my own life difficult 🤣 people were always surprised I could be effective and on par with the regular AEG users when running that thing.

I'm also poor AF so that trishot, a worse trishot, the MWS, and a TM P226 are all I own. Probably could have got multiple cheaper guns instead of an MWS, but god damnit I wanted an MWS. 😅

10.5 is as short as you’ll be able to go for an outer barrel with the stock inner barrel. All versions of the MWS, CQBR through to MTR, all use the same length inner barrel… so yeah, 10.5 is your limit. Granted I’ll never understand how folks use anything much shorter than that comfortably.

Yeah that's partly why I should have been patient and got a CQB-R to begin with and saved myself a bit of time and effort, given the inner barrel is the same.

Any brand recommendations for a 10.5, or links to stock TM ones for sale?

I kind of like the idea of ditching the stock front sight too maybe, but not set on it. Any idea what I'd need to change to do that?

That was my biggest complaint when I got mine. I find the stock pistol grip and trigger guard combo massively uncomfortable. Switched mine to a Magpul MOE+ and Magpul trigger guard and it's a world apart. Th K2 grips look comfortable too.

From what I gather, most real steel grips fit. Just use the stock bold to attach it though. The trigger guard needed a small amount of filing to fit but again, so much morecomfortable.

Ah cool, thanks for the info!

Does anyone else have abit of a mismatch finish between receiver's? Mine looks unique to other mws I've seen.

    Definitely interesting :o

Mine's matching between upper and lower. Hopefully it doesn't bug you and you can appreciate the uniqueness, I kinda dig it!

Unrelated; I'm not too keen on heavily modifying mine just yet, but I want to swap out the barrel for the shortest one I can while keeping most of it stock. I have the M4A1 with 20mm railed handguard model (14.5in barrel? I think) - Anyone have any recommendations for outer barrels that would fit an otherwise stock MWS? Heck even if just a link to a stock TM part, just the short one (10.5?). I should have got the CQB-R to begin with but I was being impatient.
I also want to swap to a grip without the damn finger groove, it's always bugged me, but I don't think that matters so much to seek recommendations for.

  12. I heard that the person who owned Bristol Airsoft at the old crown courts was planning on opening a new central Bristol site if/when possible. Does anyone have any news on that, folks? I have no means to travel....

Although also if anyone plays regularly at a nearby site and has transport and a regular spare space for a person and some gear, I'd love to be brought into that loop! Fuel contributions and such obviously available.

My blank firing Beretta 92fs was completely black when I purchased it from a gun shop in Christchurch years ago.it was never two tone.

I think they used to be ok being all black and it was sort of standard, but now I'm pretty sure they're legally mandated to be two tone blue.

As for OP; Legally you probably shouldn't have been spraying any part of it, lol. Not that I'm the police or anything.

You could try re-painting the blue bits blue, or perhaps sanding the outer layer of added paint off. Or, just leaving it and hoping it'll all be ok.

If it's brought up, you could always tell a little white lie that someone else did it/you got it second hand already like that/etc.

  14. Sorry to double post, but I need help still. I could have just bought a new one of these damn guns in the cost it's taking to get this gun of my friends' running again. I'm spending as if I can get it working I have permission to use it as a loan gun to my friends.

I despise electric guns/batteries/etc. - Always been into airguns so coming into airsoft I just stick to gas all around.

The charger gets burningly hot to the point of a strange smell and the sticker blistering, and the battery isn't far behind. I don't trust this, it doesn't seem right.

Do y'all think the charger is just busted? I don't want to buy the TM charger (and an adaptor since they don't do UK plugs) only to find it doesn't work too, or that this is somehow "normal" which I highly doubt.

A suggestion for a charger that just works with minimum faff would be great.

  15. Hey, thanks. After a little more research, measuring, eyeballing, and at least 1 purchase that's already being returned. I also now believe that adaptor should fit too and I'm thinking go for the TM battery, at least as the Ni-MH simple-for-now/back-up for later option, if no one pipes up here saying it wont fit (with the adaptor). lol.

I do want to get a LiPo battery for it as an upgrade eventually so maybe I should just do that, but I'd have to buy a few extra things for that switch and I'd want to get one of those fireproof charger bags/boxes as I live in a rather small flat with lots of neighbours in close proximity so I'd rather be safe than sorry. Might be best for simplicity to just get the Ni-MH for now and switch later- Plus it might be good to have the Ni-MH as a backup even if I do go Li-Po after.

    A. Anyone have any advice/info on what can cause a Ni-MH battery to stop taking on charge/running out of charge quickly even after a seemingly full charge, so I can avoid doing those things.

    B. Any recommendations for if I did switch to Li-Po with I guess what would be basically the same set up as you, such as what charger to get, how you go about charging/best practices/things to avoid, what Li-Po battery itself to get. (EDIT: Well, you kin of already have, I'm just sleep deprived, will investigate more when my brain works better lol)

    C. If anyone notices any problems such as incompatible things, etc., please let me know!

    Thanks y'all.

  16. I'm not too sharp after a few concussions and working stuff out isn't exactly my forte anymore.

I need a hand working out what exactly I need.

My friend has a Well R7 (MP7) and the battery has given up the ghost, what would be the best replacement battery, possibly one that counts as an upgrade?

Would this work, or does it need the adaptor:
    Battery: https://airsoftdirect.uk.com/tokyo-marui-500mah-battery-for-aep-airsoft/
    "Adaptor": https://airsoftdirect.uk.com/tokyo-marui-7-2v-battery-adapter/

And can that battery be charged by the Ni-MH charger that came with the Well R7, or would I need to buy the TM charger specified for this battery? It looks like the old charger should work with it, but I don't want to screw the new battery up.

Failing this, what would folks suggest to get this gun operational as quickly and cheaply as possible, as my local airsoft site is closing and we want to go as much as possible before January 1st 2022.

Excuse my dumb, it's not contagious.

  17. Got myself an MWS not too long ago - First upgrade was going to be the nozzle return spring as I hear it often breaks running green gas, so I got the Dynamic Precision Reinforced Valve Blocker set as I'd seen it recommended a few times and comes with everything since folks said getting the pins out to replace just the spring was nigh on impossible... But getting them IN is proving just as impossible! How in the seven hells are you supposed to get the pins that hold the spring to the pieces either end in? They just will NOT go in no matter what I try. Pliers, hammers, you name it. Any suggestions?

I also managed to bend the spring getting the plastic tube bit into the middle of it (my cockup, I was doing it while drunk and realised the method I should have used that would be less likely to damage the spring AFTER already damaging the spring). If there's a visible gap in the spring, have I stuffed it to the point of not wanting to use that spring?

Also, in the current stock configuration, there's a strange ploing/boing springy noise when the plastic nozzle springs back into the bolt and/or when the bolt returns home. It suddenly developed after a night of plinking. Is this normal? I've totally taken the bolt/etc. apart and put it back together, everything seems to be in place and nothing seems wrong, it just sounds odd and I can't find a cause and the only other MWS owner I know says it sounds weird too.

Most FAST style helmets will work, the high cut ones more so as they are specifically designed to work with headsets. You just need to remove the pads in the helmet where the headset sits.

I assume ones with individual padding bits that tend to cost a tiny bit more rather than a cheapo with a skate style foam all-inside lining would be better for that use-case.

  19. I have a tac-on question that's somewhat relevant but tell me to bugger off if it's a hijack - I have some active earpro so I can still hear things but the pyro doesn't set off my tinnitus. I don't really want to have to fork out on another set to wear with a helmet.

My head is about 58cm I think (my tape measure isn't very handy for heads) - Would a regular headset fit under most of the helmets suggested, or would I HAVE to splurge on one that can be mounted to, or converted to mount to, side rails?

If it's one of the official vinyl ones then they take bb hits perfectly fine. Better than some actual airsoft masks to be honest.

Just cut mesh eyes and bonded it inside the mask, and drilled a few small vent holes around the nose mouth and chin.

And then tested. I once bought a face mask from patrol base that when I tested (with a 280fps pistol) the bb went straight through the eye protection.

Nice. Yeah it is one of the official vinyl ones. I might do similar some time, or just see if I can squeeze it over my primary goggles reasonably after adding some vent holes.

I'd have thought they'd chip real bad and you would have had to put a layer over it or something, but I guess not! I might spray the front with some clear matte lacquer I have to protect it anyway, reckon that's a good idea? Although that might be just as bad for it...

Nothing wrong with a spring shotty when playing CQB.

I'd love gas just for the easier pump action but springer is fine, less maintenance, and gets my off arm working out a bit haha - Also should get a rifle next not more shotguns. If I had bought it new I'd have gone for the one with a stock, may just get an aftermarket one if I can confirm it'll fit. Only downside is reloading often but that's a fact for any tri-shotty, last game I got caught as the last person on the team, mid-reload, trying to defend. The guy shot 3 times, missed besides a skim across my bare arm I didn't notice until later, but I surrendered as there was no way I could get a new shell in and cock it before he pulled the trigger again. Should be able to counter that now I have a sidearm, folks say never buy a used airsoft P226 but I couldn't help myself when I saw a good deal at a bootsale and now I feel confident in fixing the damn things up lol.

I've played in a suit before, but never gave it much thought.

A mate suggested a payday theme as he bought the official vinyl masks, so we modified them into airsoft masks, (and tested them)

Lined the inside of the jackets with velcro, added some pouches, and it was the most comfortable days airsoft I've had in ages.

Just carry 4 mid caps, a bfg each and some spare 209s in a tic tac box.

45 quid for a suit from matalan, can't remember what he paid for the masks, and some pouches nicked off an old chest rig.

I used one of those masks for Halloween haha. Posed with some of my guns and gear but didn't use it in a game. How did you modify them? I'd be worried about it getting obliterated! Could be a themed game idea in there somewhere though.

Unfortunately I didn't have the appropriate signature weapon for the character, but oh well.

My actual airsoft getup is more along these lines...

    80643424_1159833517553053_3130732272009871360_n2.jpg.3b6cbd214af0ff266b8ee1d17748b443.jpg

I keep using cheapo primaries and spending all my money on other stuff, so excuse the springer shotgun. Although I play entirely CQB right now so if it ain't broke...
Also I really need to find the actual decent resolution photo of that, all I could find was this lowres one. Will edit if I find it.

-Currently using a second hand Secutor Velites SII with a cheapo light and low power red laser combo as a primary, more than enough shells to not have to constantly refill them on the vest.

-TM P226 E2 bought second hand pre-upgraded with a tighter inner barrel and maple leaf bucking (although I hear TM is top there anyway so may not do much for it), didn't lock back but otherwise worked fine. Changed the slide to a stainless coloured one but kept it plastic, replaced the BBU housing with a guarder lighter one as both stock TM BBU housings I have were slightly worn, still not locking back and I was hoping the guarder one would be stronger despite being lighter. Got 5 mags, belt and IMI holster and mag holders with the P226. 2 of the mags leaked bad but a quick disassembly and lubing up of the seals fixed that. One has a busted feed lip which will be easy enough to replace.

-Goggles are legit Revision desert locusts, the fan version, with prescription inserts. I got so sick and tired of OTT fogging I always seem to suffer from I figured my main recent budget would go on minimising the issue as much as possible.

-Headset is awesafe. No mic but I have tinnitus so I use them so I can still hear people but it mutes pyro a little. Not pictured is the radio setup that I can attach to them with a 3.5 jack and I use cheapo retevis speakermic as my mic, plugged into a cheapo Retevis.. R24s? I think.

-Trousers from verusteleka.com (I love 'em)

-Shirt some cheapo UBACS style shirt from amazon.

-Vest and pouches all just cheapy MOLLE things mostly from amazon. I just had the rifle/SMG mag pouches on there for the lols, normally I'd have either those if using my partners MP7 or just the shotgun shell pouch and shell loops.

-First aid kit is just a booboo kit with home first aid stuff for post-game nicks, cuts, BBs stuck in places. No need for a real IFAK with no medical training, but a realistic combat loadout should always have something that looks like one IMO lol.

-Kneepads are alta, boots are from 'vegetarian shoes' as I'm a dirty vegetarian and won't buy new leather. They have foldable/removable ice studs and are pretty damn comfy. Finish wears on the outside quite fast though but then I always do suck at looking after boots.

Positioning isn't final, haven't actually run a game to test everything with the latest setup yet as I've been busy or ill for ages. I was using cheaper goggles, a less practical shirt, a different shotgun, no sidearm for the last couple games. And yes I know it's an absolute mess of cheap and expensive crap.

Edit: Not the same pics in high quality, but other closeup angles of various things (I like my loadout to be plausibly realistic over truly practical. Also bit more of a workout haha..), minus a radio setup me and some friends split the cost of.
