  1. My OEM upper is not working but my mate's is (on my lower receiver) so I know mine is gone. My question now is: do I buy a z-parts forged upper? Anyone got any experience with those? I would love an original TM but they are just not possible to get hold of.

@camden What’s your entire setup mechanically?

Still same prob with any mag?

Thanks for asking, Dave. Finally found the culprit and it was a 'duuh' moment: there wasn't an o-ring on the firing pin. All sorted now.

If you tried your friends bolt and it works fine, then maybe buy a new bolt? 😂

Try following a YouTube guide and disassembling the bolt, then you can check to see if anything is out of place. What exactly is going wrong?

The MWS is currently not capable of emptying one mag. It usually manages at least 2 reloads on one gas refill. FPS is way down. have rebuilt bolt several times but no luck so far...

Thanks for your reply. Just received a replacement nozzle in the post and will try that today. i have alreadyt ried a complete Angry Gun nozzle setup but that had the same effect: no oomph.

  6. My MWS is playing up and I think it is the BCG (as it works well with my mate's bolt). I tried gradually replacing everything and still no luck. I am looking for a recommendation of a GBB/MWS repair shop in the UK.

    Who would you go to?

Anyone have a link to an original TM MWs nozzle?

    Thanks in advance, everyone!

  8. BOLT ISSUES:

Now this is really foxing me: I am using the original bolt (reinforced spring inside as the old one broke). With a fresh mag, it fires well for the first few shots and then performance drops hugely and it can't empty the mag. Using my mate's original bolt, (and using the same rifle and same magazine as before!!), it fires absolutely fine and empties the mag reliably.

I have since changed to a light weight bolt (had one lying around so worth a try) and changed the pistol head/seal as well; with the same result. Anyone clever out there can point me in the right direction as I am really missing using my MWS?

    Thanks in advance!

Carried out some changes to my 10.3" URGI-1 over the last few weeks. Some because I simply fancied a change but others because I have taken some things I like from my MRE build and wanted to transfer them onto this much modern rifle.

I was going to swap out the front end entirely and build up an 11.5" barrel complete with a Geissele MK4 rail.

But I just love the compactness of the 10.3" and I know its a very common rail in the safe zone, but the URGI is just fantastic and it would take something pretty special to beat it IMO, in terms of its slim profile and ergonomics.

So the 4 prong SF Flash Hider has gone in favour for a SF closed-tine. Think of it like a modern day bird cage flash hider. (Both made by Angry Gun)

The Magpul hand stop has been replaced with a TrueNorth Concepts Handstop-K a much smaller profile and takes advantage of the slim design of the urgi rail.

Having really missed the ambi fire selector fitted to my MRE I wanted the same on the urgi albeit a little more modern. So enter the PTS Radian Talon ambi selector, which is very well made and offers solid/precise manipulation.

I was so impressed with the PTS fire selector I coupled it with their licensed version of the Radian Raptor-LT charging handle.

I love the vertical shooting position of the Magpul MOE K2 Pistol Grip, but prefer the rubber grip that the Hogue offers on my MRE. Luckily Magpul make the 'K2+' which is an overmolded grip with rubber, giving me the best of both worlds.

I've now fitted a Angry Gun Milspec buffer tube as it has worked flawlessly on my MRE and takes out any slop with genuine stocks. This has been followed with a SixG HSB to improve single shot performance, I've tested it and it works very well indeed. Looking forward to testing it further in game!

Lastly as much as I'm a fan of the small form factor of the Magpul MOE SL-K, I just miss shouldering a rifle with a CTR fitted. Let's be honest that stock suits any build even if its been around for a while now!

A Magpul enhanced magazine release, and Magpul ODG magazine pulls are also on route...

Thanks for reading my update, another post from a geardo/geek!

Love your build, mate. Agree on many of your choices and am now looking out for a PTS ambi switch. where did you find yours, please? and CTR stocks just rock, whatever the weather :)

I’m trying not to look at that hole where the screw should be in the rail. Damn Ocd.  😂

The mount does look good! I’m warming to it truth be told. The PTS version is supposed to be a very good licensed replica as you already know from having one.  Thanks for the pics. Appreciated.

Just so that you can sleep better tonight: replacement screw is in the post from HAO 😂

There is an even cheaper version available on ebay I have just been made aware, just search for: Unity Style Fast Micro Aimpoint T1 / T2 High Rise Mount Only Black / FDE Airsoft

I’ve been having way too much fun here. Let me explain......

So, I wanted to try out a Unity mount on the MWS and wasn’t sure if I’d want to spend £200 on the real deal. I mean what if I didn’t like it? It’s a lot of money to spend on a real steel mount especially if you don’t like it afterwards. So fortunately Unity provide a template which you can download and create a mock up model of the mount. So guess what I did. Yup. Craft time 😂

Whatcha think fellas? Cerakote it? 😂

On a serious note the mount is pretty tall. It’s a 2.26inch variant which gives you a better shooting position when looking down the barrel.

So based on this would you buy one?

I bought it and love it. It just takes a little to get use to as it does change your sahooting position for the better!

    Short usage review.

First outing with my MWS on Sat and I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as my PTW.

I think I need to spend a little more time getting the hop just perfect and zero it again.

It was also only about 5-8'C when I was using it and it just felt a bit weak. I was using Predator Red Gas.

I don't think I gave it a fair shake of the stick. Simply because of how good my PTW is.
I point and that thing sends the shots accurately and at a known range and consistency.

My MWS was in my head a 50/50 chance of hitting the player.

Was also my first time running a short scope, rather than a dot sight. Which was very different.
I really enjoyed being able to see the target and getting that extra bit of optics on them to follow the shot in.
I found it slower to get on target. Which is obviously their negative vs a dot. But I will continue to practice.

So from a historic full AEG convert.

I think I will enjoy using the MWS but I don't think it is as suited to a woodland game as an AEG and that is mainly due to the low ammo count vs weight on the mags.
I liked the realism but didn't like the weigh of having just 4 mags on me. Let along the 7 AEG, I usually carry.

For Combat mission, heavy storyline milsim and probably for some CQB games. It will be the winner for smiles and realism.

I just don't think if I had the option and wanted to win a game, i would pick it over my PTW or NGRS.

That said. Lets see how I feel after my next game. Where it will be the only thing I take with me.

Gunman US vs Russia at the end of May

I agree mostly on yout PTW Vs MWS comparison. I stopped using the MWS for woodland as not accurate enough over distance. However, I absolutely love the MWS for CQB.

I’d stick to the Marui rubber truth be told. I used the tan modify one and it lasted a few hundred rounds. It may well have been the rubber was a dodgy one, who knows. The Marui is spot on. Always keep a few in the tool box from now.

I have gone back to original TM rubber after using the Tan Modify. Got chewed up after a few thousands rounds. so not a one-off the way this is looking. TM internals are generally very good. I stopped using my sexy Hao BCG for the same reason: just not good enough.

    They are absolute shit lol.

I have had loads of AG parts, all but one of them have problems..they clearly test nothing! There is no other explanation for it.

Ag nozzle, weird full auto so removed.

Ag bolt (sf version) piston wouldn't fit, also spring retainer wouldn't go in without modding.

Ag outer barrel, hop issues when installed

Ag maritime bolt catch, sticks out about 3mm more than a real one, so you cannot wind the mag release enough to seat it properly. They even admitted to me they screwed it up!

Ag mag release, fell in half first use lol..pin just fell out!

Ag charging handle, roll pins just fall out

Ag lightweight bolt catch, needed heavy filing to move freely.

Ag urgi v2 rail, will not fit an mws without their adapter ring which only comes with their outer barrel set which causes hop problems! The v1 rail was fine and had a more durable finish.

Saying that, my flash hider is perfectly fine, even they would struggle to fuck that up.

They clearly make things based on pictures on the Internet, this is why everything is out of spec..then they clearly do not test finished products on a base mws but on modified ones made from their parts.

I hope they go out of business.

Could not agree with you more. I have an AG suppressor thast just about 'works' as in: it doesn't fall off.

I have heard the HAO one weighs a shit ton, and makes the gun quite front heavy.

There are a few versions of the HAO one. If you are a lightweight snowflake like myself, then go for the 'airsoft' version, which weighs about the same as the Angry G at 231grams but better made and closer to RS spec in terms of dimensions. However, if you are a true SAS warrior, then go for the 'hardcore' version (their words :) ) at 505 grams. The thing is: any real suppressor will make a rifle front-heavy and mess with its weight balance that far forward.

    https://www.haoptwart.com/product-page/hao-s-556rc-dummy-pre-order

There is also a HAO 'trainer' that looks a bit rubbish (open at the front) weighing 'the same as a real one' (again, their words)

    https://www.haoptwart.com/product-page/hao-s-sf-suppressor-trainers

By the way, I bought their MWS bolt carrier and it is pretty but no better than the original. Probably shoots less well but it is pretty (did I mention that already :) ?) and has a reinforced back end so less wear? The old adage of " internals: japan, externals: taiwan" still seems to hold true.

Have ordered the PTS ambi selector and will report back once installed.

Yeah I have the angry gun with surefire suppressor as well but just can't seem to get the thing to lock on

Only works with the matching flash hider as mentioned by Captain Darling

  17. 7 hours ago, gunbod007 said:

Out of interest, if that is an angry gun suppressor how the hell do you get it on? when I put my one on it is too tight before it even engages with the anti rotation teeth. So it is just held on with a tiny bit of friction

It is the Angry gun suppressor, well spotted. I bought the matching flash hider with it and it fits very securely. Will post a picture asap.

I would buy the HAO one these days if I hadn't already got the Angry G as the HAO one is RS sized (both flash hider and suppressor) whereas the Angry G is not.

I felt the same until I tried it.  It feels very skinny and unobtrusive in the hand, it weighs less, and it seems to me to be ergonomically superior.  I struggle to use the old RIS style now, it just feels like I'm tring to manipulate the gun whilst its attached to a clunky cheese grater.

Whilst the mk18 had certain real steel advantages due to heat dissipation, these are not relevant in airsoft.  I really like Magpul as an innovative modern business, and their R&D on M Lok was superb.  I remember getting one of the early MOE handguards for my PTW about 10 years ago and liking it's 'high speed, low drag' ergonomics, and what Geissele have done with that concept is refine it further.  HAO have done an excellent job again at making it affordable for airsoft.  Firm handshakes all round.

Could not agree with you more. Had the Mk18 on my PTW for years and would just not go back. Now if somebody doesn't like the looks, that is fair enough but it works on the 'technical' side and handles a lot better. Both PTW and MWS now carry the rail, one has the short and one the long. HAO has worked wonders considering the price (not talking about their body kits here, which are ace but expensive. I will keep the original TM receiver on the MWS for a little while yet. The PTW has a HAO upper and lower now)

Hey, I just wanted to report that I managed to get the SAA mags leak free by merging the two halfs with steel araldite.

The o ring was removed, contact surfaces roughened and the rod removed. The side body screw which holds the rod was set in place with araldite. Whereas the bottom threads were blocked with a cross threaded screw + araldite. All contact surfaces were oil free and treated with spirits before the araldite treatment.

The mag in question was filled with gas sometime in November 2020 and has had no leaks since. A bit of a job to get it done but nevertheless, might be worth the effort or a fitting lockdown activity to some.
