  1. My intention is to replace the rail with something a bit sleeker anyway to be honest. I'm hoping to get the MTR specific barrel and ris mount assembly off un-brutalised but if necessary I'm willing to move into the realms of "extreme prejudice".
  2. There's threadlock..... then there's the barrel nut on that solidly I suspect its been welded. Anyone know how cerakote handles heat? Thinking about getting a blowtorch on it......
  3. MTR specific question, how in god's name do you get the barrel nut off? Seriously even with the correct tool Ive had stop before I mangle it..... On a related note what the hell are the wierd not quite Torx screws on the MTR as well?
  4. problem with ACM stuff is how "variable" it can be. I know of people who've run 1000s of rounds with ACM eotechs on gbbr's and recoils with no issues and others who've had them fail on the first trigger pull. The vortex Sparc is more expensive than ACM red dots.... but will survive stuff like this...... https://www.recoilweb.com/vortex-sparc-ii-the-dot-that-would-not-die-67267.html
  5. @UKCYukarin IF your budget can stretch to it Vortex do some very good budget sights aimed at the RS market but with an unlimited lifetime warranty that will be honoured for anything short of deliberate abuse. I'm torn between running a RS eotech and a Vortex Sparc AR on the CQB upper I showed off earlier
  6. Technical question, the screw that holds the hop base into the upper reciever (m2.6 x 6) is it just a normal machine screw thread on it? I ask because frankly Eagle6 can go eat a dick asking £4 for it and I'm not keen on shipping a 75p component from impulse101 in japan.
  7. For those interested the dry fit of my cqb upper. Just need the tiny screw that holds the hop base in place and an inner barrel now.
  8. Hopefully the last of my random questions, building a cqb upper focused on accuracy and consistancy at 40m and less on a .25, I've got a complete gunsmodify hop unit, base etc on the way, a modify tan bucking and am looking at trying to find an Orga lex 6.05...... So looking at a 7 to 8 inch barrel set up will I do better to chop the stock tm barrel for the cqb build and then get a full length lex plus the uprated internals in the stock mtr upper or will getting a #50 barrel cut down make a noticable difference?
  9. @itsme It'll be designed to run most efficiently on R134/R144a. The Japanese police have a habit of getting a serious sad on with anyone making or supplying bits capable of running above 1Joule. Running it on propane etc will probably be fine but is outside the design specs. For reference pure R134 @ 21degrees should be approx 71.2psi gauge pressure.
  10. @LVOA-D I know you changed your forward assist for a Strike industries one, I don't suppose you still have the original TM parts?
  11. Thinking out loud here and after noticing a complete lack of spare upper recievers for MWS's at the moment. If I was to buy and and split a MWS would anyone be interested in A) a complete lower, B) a front end including inner barrel but without hop unit? How much would people see as reasonable pricing and which model would be more desirable from the point of view of selling the front end?
  12. I had hoped that would be the case. Just didn't want to build an upper that was incapable of consistancy.
  13. Okay hive mind, Can one go for too short an inner barrel, looking at building a very stubby (sub 10 inch including can) upper for cqb use with .25s. Im wondering if overvoluming will be an issue using 144a and stock bolt etc? For illustration something like the front end on this
  14. Anyway you look at it, seriously who in their right mind would swap a TM 416D for a Specna 416C?
  15. For those not aware checking this link occasionally can be worthwhile; https://online.edgarbrothers.com/collections/deals For example they had ArcTeryx Talos Wolf Grey trousers at under a hundred quid brand new last week. I don't even run a CTSFO loadout but was tempted.
  16. I'm intrigued by the 20g bb's and 270ft range he's claiming it has.... at the same time as listing it as boneyard.
  17. @LVOA-D Is that a Strike Industries Ultimate dust/ejection port cover? Is it a direct drop in fit?
  18. Morning gents, yet more random questions I'm afraid, continuing the efforts to build up a second upper receiver set, 1) does anyone know how the Laylax hop unit compares to the original TM one as at E6's prices the Laylax hop chamber is considerably cheaper and IIRC Laylax stuff tends to be good. For comparison Ive seen the Laylax chamber at £25 in several places, E6 are charging £10-12 per piece for the TM original bits. 2) Ejection Port Cover RS compatibility, once again its looking a damn sight cheaper to get one from Brownells than buy the bits individually from E6, as in a complete set springs, bar etc can be had for ~£7 rather than E6's £10 for just the "port cover and you'll need to buy the rest of the bits individually". Thanks in advance.
  19. Yup, looks like it's gonna be a bog stock tm upper as I refuse to pay £300 for a bog standard m4 upper reciever. I'm just also kind of opposed to the concept of paying for an upper reciever set half of which I don't actually want. I've dropped eagle6 a message to see if they'll just do a built up upper without the front end.
  20. Cheers dude. Bog stock fwd assist it is then.
  21. Evening all, Trying to build a second upper for my MTR, are any of the aftermarket MWS hop units any good or am I going to be better off buying a second rifle then stripping the bits I need and flogging the rest. Looking at this from a practicality and cost effectiveness front, the build will be along the lines of a Spikes compressor upper so a CQB friendly shorty. Was planning on the tan modify hop rubber and a 6.05 orga barrel cut down if needed. Also @LVOA-D the Strike Industries forward assist is that a mws specific part, real steel or just a generic GBBR bit? Also given these have been in the wild for a while, where's all the funky upper reciever options etc. I fancy an MUR style upper but don't really want to drop £700 on the John Wick kit.
  22. Awesome. Now all I need is him to reply to my emails then.
  23. Evening ladies and gents. Anyone know whats going on with the SixG super buckings. Seen a couple of posts saying payment made and no product amd others that have been trying to get in contact for a couple of months now?
