Likewise, I always carry some decent mesh eye pro on me for game days, my only very small criticism of mesh is obviously vision is a smudge more limited, partly through light transmission but mainly because at 51, I now need glasses for close up such as reading fine print, the downside to this is anything "solid" in front of the eyes, even fine mesh, can cause focus issues for me. so if I'm indoors in semi dark environments, it's clear or yellow glasses, but with the mesh in my pouch in case misting gets silly, & woodland sites my mesh as my primary eyepro with glasses as back up. never had anything get past the mesh though, & ive been hit in them more times than I care to admit to 😏

for example, only this week we've had yet another "what first gun to buy" thread, I'm not even bothering to read them if I see a title like that & I'll pretty much read everything (small print on bog rolls !), I'm not elitist or clickey when it comes to new members, but most of the current wave either wants to be spoon fed, or just wants the use of the classifieds to shift their tat, & always react badly to even mild criticism, even if its meant to be constructive. part of the reason I think the Mack thread is a good thing is that the more knowledgeable members will quickly spot & highlight the dubious threads, those that the owners claim have only been test fired in the garden but with closer inspection they look like they've been thrown from beachy head or driven over by a tank etc. if those kinda were to slip through through without comment, as they do on other forums, its likely that a noob whos desperate for a rif will buy them, take delivery of an unfixable money pit, the seller most likely disappears as quickly he signed up, & the buyer may possibly be deterred from staying in the game because of the whole experience, especially if PayPal doesn't support their claim when the seller points out its a "gun". without Macks or similar threads, what's the alternative, a post count limit before you can access the classifieds like on Arnies ?, that's just gonna turn people away from the forum. personally I'd rather see 10k honest community spirited quality members than 50k chancers & chavs spreading discord & negativity ?. if that means experienced players have to sometimes "police" the posts, even be a little bit salty with some if them, so be it, I'm sure the mods will reign it in if it goes to far or is not warranted.

I'm a big believer in the carrot rather than the stick, but lets be honest 99% of the ads that end up on this thread are either brand new members or not so new but have a very low post count, usually all sales posts, if they choose not to look at other areas of the forum, I reckon they're fair game when they post up overpriced or kit in dubious condition. as for sending pm's pointing out pricing errors etc, I've done it elsewhere plenty of times, always politely, the response is almost always arsey 😉
-
dude, its not bitching, its a valid point on a dedicated thread, on probably the only forum that allows open & frank discussions, the rest are run by snowflakes who're afraid to out scammers or overpriced kit. you can choose to not visit here, that's your choice, especially if all you want to do is flog kit, overpriced or not. it gets a bit boring when members join just to sell, especially when they cry about threads like this, take the time to read the rules & discussions & you'll see there's no pettiness involved, just community spirited airsofters looking out for each other.

@DopeYourScope you bastard, here's me hating apocalypse, having been disappointed every time I've played there (5 times, last time bout 2 years ago), clearly they've been busy building there, now I'm torn about having another go 🤔 GitGitGitGitGit😜

Yeah, when a retailer literally says "sold as seen", doesn't exactly inspire confidence 🤔 -
its an aep 😜 but yeah price is a smidge high.

Used to be a time when shop techs could attend manufacturers courses, although I think they were nothing more than one day affairs, in order that shops could claim manufacturer validation. being the cynical old bugger I am, I generally judge people by the quality of their work, not by the bits of paper on their walls, & I think this is true in most jobs, we've all had work colleagues who on paper match our own skill sets, but in reality do inferior (or superior😏) work, so called airsoft techs are no different, hence the need for a thread naming (or shaming) those out there. a register sounds too official, & may give validation to those who don't deserve it ?
-
maybe in much the same way we have threads on here that rate your experience with retailers, we should have something similar for techs, listing their geographical locations & particular areas of expertise, or if they're shite & should be avoided 😉
-
dunno what to say about that, if the numbers are correct then they've either upped their game OR there's a lot of easily pleased people about. I'm not convinced 😉

Played there about 5 times, each time I said I wouldn't go back, the site manager (Martin ?), is full of his own self importance & unfortunately shit rolls downhill so his marshals were no better, big cheating problem that wasn't being addressed, I reckon they have the attitude that "a paying cheat is still paying", as for numbers, never saw more than about 50. yes, it is potentially a massive site (260 acres approx), but most of it isn't used, if he's quoting 220 booked, I call bullshit on his numbers.

Lol, that was the price of my first tm hi-capa, s/h, completely stock, kicked like a mule & shot like a laser. #TMFTW 👍

I'm the same, see stuff in the classifieds sometimes & think "wtf", but don't know enough to say whether or not its a pisstake. for me, if a £70 pistol does what its supposed to, good enough for me, I'd have sleepless nights if I spent £450 on one 😭
-
lol, that just confirms what we knew all along, he's clearly a knob 😆

Thing is, there are so many variables that could inevitably end in joint issues etc, for starters have a look around the average safezone & you'll see every body shape, from stick thin to morbidly obese, & it could be argued that most will load up with more kit than they need (or are used to), & when the whistle blows charge off across rough unknown terrain, every step inviting potential life changing injuries, & who's better to run the risk, the stick thin teen with still developing but very limited muscle mass, or the obese porker who while he's unfit, at least his body is attuned to carrying extra mass. its a minefield, so to speak. im not bashing the training plates as such, after all they're only a weight & at least being worn close to the body their prob less detrimental than a loaded backpack that may swing around if not loaded & worn properly. but any weighted training aid needs to be worked up to, your exercise routine needs to have peaked & is maintainable at your current level before you add to it, for many airsofters putting on a pc & loading it with mags & water etc may already far exceed what their used to, especially if the don't have a regular exercise regime, & adding weighted plated because the may have read it's "the thing" at the moment isn't gonna turn them in to athletes overnight. im going the other way with my load-outs, a number of rigs according to what's needed, but for the average skirmish I'm going light as possible, enough water & mags for an hour, top up back in the safe zone, I've nothing to prove & am already carrying enough timber lol.
