Given that the problem is deceptive adverts rather than disruptive comments, I'm not seeing why advertisers should be able to do that.

I don't find it strange that ordering from an airsoft retailer is a random lottery. To be fair, the last order I did with them showed up pretty quickly, and if they'd actually sent me the same item that they'd advertised, I would have been happy. -

Showing them in stock, they were. So trusting, I am. Learn, I never do. -

Ordered another couple of G17 mags and cans of gas from PatrolBase on Monday afternoon. Still waiting on dispatch. -

Even though I know what that's referencing, it still looks like he's sucking his thumb. -
A properly declared £131 airsoft toy should attract both import duty, VAT (on the total cost including postage and import duty) and (depending on courier) a triple-penetration by being charged courier fees for paying that duty for you. If the retailer is mislabelling to avoid it then you're gambling on being lucky enough to have it slip though.

Can you switch it between regular metres and airsoft metres? NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo! Aw, that's awful, you buy an EVO to avoid that sort of tosh. You might try asking Ryan / Silver Fox if he's got any ideas. Worst case, I should have a spare something or other on the 14th. -

Good enough for government work. Well, after railing against both SWAT, and buying used, I ignored my own sage advice and gambled on not one but two used SWAT VTGs via PreFired. Winner, winner, fraggy dinner: they arrived as described, literally mint (in the sense of being unused and green), and cost the grand total of £90 for both, delivered. That's me up to 1 tri-shot TRMR and 3 x timed VTGs: as God is my witness, I'll never walk round a corner again without fragging it first. -

Isn't that our leaving present to you? -
Oh, that's believable. It's the risible comparison with a pot metal (excuse me, "stamped steel") toy gun that's making us chuckle. Cheer up, you've brought some joy to our day.

Thus the suggestion to ask G&G on Facebook what they think it's meant to run on. There's no way that a retailer in $CURRENT_YEAR should be recommending NiMh batteries. That'd be like dealers putting cross-ply tyres on cars to try and fix a handling problem. -

Sadly not with those G&G ETU / MOSFET guns. They'll cut off at ~9V or so to protect the battery. But that's where you'd want to cut off to protect an 11.1V lipo (3 x 3V per cell). -

Gets UKARA, buys a green gun. Now that's Quixotic... ... but that tops it. That's like buying a Ferrari then running it on 95 RON petrol. Sure, the NiMhs will work, but it's bizarre to suggest that it was designed for them. If not an 11.1V LiPo, how about a 9.9V LiFe? Ye of little faith! Ordered Friday, showed up today even with free-over-£50 postage. A new gun, in the ordered colour, still tagged and not pre-licked, two new sealed WE mags, and a free bottle of BBs thrown in as well. I have to say, I expected more drama. Sort of disappointed. -

Irrational self deception. £99 on stupid toys is OK. £100 is real money. Slightly less flippantly, I enjoy running a bunch of different stupid toys during the day, as it changes the way I have to play and that keeps things fresh. I don't argue that this is the best way to airsoft - for what I've spent on cheap stupid toys, I could have bought an EVO or similar expensive stupid toy which would hugely outperform everything that I have under every circumstance. But I get smiles out of switching between electro-carbine, electro-SMG, springer shotgun and even my electro-pistol. However, the trigger response on the AEP is dire even running on lipo, so I've finally decided to splash out on a gas gun. -

Dunno. Raven appear to be a Nuprol rebrand, which is weird given that Nuprol is already a rebrand of... whatever. The AA and Raven might very well be from the same factory, but the AA was £56.50 (after Secret Discount) and the Ravens are £72 from PatrolBase. Keeping the whole order under the psychological £100 barrier was the difference between wasting my money on more stupid toys, versus not wasting my money on more stupid toys. And yes, I might end up running pistol primary - this was the cheapest way to see if that's for me. According the AFUK review, the AA is TM compatible, so when it breaks I can sort it with proper magical parts. -

I've finally cracked and bought a GBB pistol for haptic larks. In best tight Scotchman style, it's the cheapest one that I could find, the Army Armament R17-A not-a-Glock, blessed as sort-of-OK-ish by Jebus Himself: The giggle is that I've done what we all know not to do, and ordered it from... bbguns4less. Because why? Because cheapness. (£60 + 2 x £21 WE mags) - the 7% discount code you get from leaving it in your basket for 24 hours + free postage = <£95 delivered. My rule of thumb is that anything under 3 figures is disposable, and PayPal means that if it turns up pre-licked by Sweaty Dom or explodes during the first garage plinking session, then a dispute goes in, and back it goes. Famous last words: how badly can they mess up a simple order? -
I'm more outraged by it being posted in "electric rifles". That should be a banhammer offence. Mind you, I think that about most things.
-
The magazines come to about £235 retail, although it's the usual fantasy of recouping most of what you've spent for used gear in unknown condition. I do wish that folk wouldn't try to sell things as big bundles, as it'll sharply reduce the size of their potential market.
-
To be fair, it's a sensible package, and a bit (not much) cheaper than buying it all new. Maybe the trigger contacts aren't too burnt out from running it on 11.1V... Did I just defend a Nuprol? I need to go and shower...
-
Yes. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/57 "In this Act, the expression “firearm” means [...] an accessory to a lethal barrelled weapon or a prohibited weapon where the accessory is designed or adapted to diminish the noise or flash caused by firing the weapon" Important bits highlighted. Airsoft suppressors are not firearm parts, and neither are they designed to diminish the noise or flash of a firearm, even if they happen to fit on a firearm.
-
I particularly like how they expect a weapon that screams "CQB" to be too hot for most UK CQB sites. No, that can sod itself right off. It's just another toy gun, the trade-marks aren't worth an extra £300.

It's OK, I'll collect.
