  1. got some new fets arriving today, got an m6 and my ICS CXP-APE to do - hopefully get these both right first time
  2. I suspect you are correct but it is at least an easy thing to try
  3. Some mid cap tracer mags http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Magazines_G_P_AEG_Std_G_P_130rds_Illuminated_Magazine_for_Marui_M16_Series.htm Tracers are awsome fun to use
  4. just to throw a curve ball in there, if you correct the AOE you generally lose a few FPS so might be worth trying that with your stronger spring.
  5. To be fair I have only played there once, the site was pretty well run though to much not taking of hits not dealt with by the marshals for my liking. Very close engagement and very few areas where you can get a sustained exchange of fire going, also a lot of choke points where it is difficult to do anything other than queue up to get shot. That said they were working on the site layout to improve things on that score. Game rules were clearly laid out and games were varied. I would certainly play there again as it is a unique site.
  6. The stan is probably pretty close to you and a decent cqb site
  7. what about some of this stuff to fix it? http://www.aluminiumrepair.co.uk/
  8. Tbh the soldering wasn't much of an issue once I got my eye in for it and bought a decent iron and helping hand. Had to learn some lessons on getting the wiring to sit right in the gearbox. I should have just done the receiver mods after the second fet, but that meant taking it into work and I was confident that with extra heat shrinking I could get it through without nipping the wires. I still think it is technically possible, just bloody awkward. Anyway taking it apart and putting back together so many times gave me the chance to correct the AOE, change the nozzle for a double o ring one, change the piston head, fit a stronger spring and re-shim the gears.
  9. Now where would the fun be in that?
  10. So after killing four - yes four mosfets trying to upgrade a gun I have finally managed to get one in and run a full hi cap though the gun without blowing it. A combination of the motor gears wearing through wires, shorting out when refitting the stock barrel or ver heating the fet soldering on smaller diameter wiring. So I ended up with smaller wiring (rated correctly) and modifications to the lower receiver and stock barrel to make it all fit without comprising any of the wiring sleeve integrity. So come on, fess up has anyone blown more?
  11. I bought two pairs, one was £89 the other was £114 (the cheaper one was for my son and mine had a fancy tinted lens because I am a tart. Breathing is fine, much of the time it feels like you have no lower mask on at all which is very nice. I bought from BZ paintball, great service!
  12. just bought a firestorm systems mosfet - lovely bit of kit.
  13. played this gun at the weekend so thought I would update my comments. 7.4v lipo fits perfectly in the tube, an 11.1v is really tight and as mentioned above you can't close the stock all the way. For me this became irrelevant as trying to use an 11.1v lipo on semi auto is impossible, most of the time double fired or went full auto so I dropped back to a 7.4v battery. made a point of using the supplied magazine and did notice some feeding issues, swapped it out a couple of times while it still had ammo in it just to get back to consistent feeding of bb's. totally forgot to look out for the initial double feeding issue. (doh!)
  14. Well if anyone is questioning or on the fence about buying the dye i4 then don't hesitate. Absolutely bloody brilliant. In the dry and in the rain today with me sweating like a paedophile in a playground and not a hint of fogging. Got hit several times directly on the lens which tbh is a little disconcerting when you see the BB coming at the last minute! If I had any criticism at all then t would be putting it back on for a new game with soggy foam is gross, but that is being really really picky.
  15. picked up a set of the Dye I4 - should arrive today
  16. I bought one of these last year - only played it three times since then but it has been great! I fit my battery into the stock tube and then fit the stock over it, then it will close all the way. Not had any issues with the mag that came with it and I only ever use 0.25 bb's, also only had an issue with a couple of mags that won't fit - but tbh couldn't tell you what type they are as have had them for ages and they work fine in the m4 and m16 that my son has. I've not really noticed this issue with the initial double feed will look out for it next time I play (should be this weekend) I really rate this gun. the look, feel, consistency and accuracy are all IMO excellent. also from memory I am chronoing it at 300ish with the .25's
  17. yeah so without significant butchering of the gearbox and losing the selector plate this isn't going to work with the gearboxes I have... and I broke a bloody selector plate fitting the damm thing back together!
  18. I do hope that was pun intended...
  19. This is really the only way to deal with people that don't take the hit, keep shooting them until they do. If they move then I try and move to a better position to keep shooting them from. I do find that I start to pick on people that don't take them which probably says more about me than it does them.
  20. Getting way more technical than I expected, but at the end of the day new motors, gears, pistons, switches, wires, even gearboxes are all relatively cheap to replace. So if I try it and it doesn't work or goes tits up then it is no biggie...
  21. Had plenty of gearboxes apart, changed gears, pistons, motors etc just never done anything on the electrics side but do have a background in car and home audio mods so am fairly comfortable with what needs to be done. I did get the 14awg into a classic army m6 with no dremeling, routed the trigger wires around the outside to make it work. But had to change it to rear wired rather than front wired. Need to pull that apart to fit a new piston as the one in it is showing some wear and I didn't have one handy to fit, so am going to change it back to front wired on the PTFE wiring I've ordered. That will be the test bed for the micro switch as well.
  22. Well I guess I am going to find out, will be starting on a spare gun so it won't matter if it gets fecked. The biggest issue I have with the fets I bought is that they are 14awg silicon coated so are 3.4mm dia each. Have ordered some 2mm PTFE coated that is only 2.4mm dia each that I will re wire them with. Also have a tracer unit to add into the mad bull ultimate hop that I will wire into the motor contacts at the same time as well while it is in bits
  23. I've just got the ones from the component shop, no need for any fancy AB or anything....
