  1. Don't know how long ago you went, but there have been some major changes at Tuddenham now with games being run by Doug, the Gunman manager.
  2. A DMR has a 30m minimum engagement distance in our games, so you might struggle to use it to any effect in the dense jungle of Eversley. Its coniferous so still dense even in December.
  3. Probably insufficient demand for duplicated games in the theme plus its very time consuming organising them if you do it properly which is why site operators dont offer weekly milsims.
  4. The Kill Rags have arrived ready for Op Claw Hammer

    1. shortman

      shortman

Cant wait for it. Im buzzing now after longmoor on the weekend.

  5. Thats milsim lite. Okto and sometimes Gunman do more full on milsim where there are no two tone weapons, only mid/or low caps (no bb rattling) and different teams have different loadouts. Once you are in the battlezone, there are no breaks for 8 hours and you live in the battle, cooking, resting etc for that 8 hours. Its great fun, we have a regular following and players join in without being anal or elitist. Its 100% boyhood escapism. Have a look at our Facebook page if you want to know more.
  6. Thetford way - depends on how approximate you are or how local. Its actually near Mildenhall airbase and is an old RAF bomber base itself.
  7. Tuddenham is run by Gunman Airsoft which has the same parent as us. Their milsims are often the light (lite) variety where you get some aspects of a full-on milsim but not others (e.g. simple loadout requirements and hi-caps but using medic rules etc). Okto and Gunman work complimentarily and cater for different needs in the community. NB - Gunman have a small one day milsim game at Norwich this weekend. Might go up ourselves to have a look at the site for future Okto games !! Our advice is to read the Gunman game description to make sure you are attending the type of game you want as they run lots of different types of games (usually one or two a week on their four sites).
  8. Welcome to the forum. Our parent group run skirmishes and milsim lite games at Tuddenham near Thetford and Norwich.
  9. We use both as there is not a lot to choose between Ice and Sawflys. The ESS are slightly more better looking and dont have the brow frame like the Sawflys. Both have adjustable arms and elastic to hold them on.
  10. As you are both playing on the next op, its always worth asking on the Okto group as well, as the guys on there will have foind their own solutions to provide fog free vision and protection without looking like a deep sea diver or the guy from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  11. so you can either go through three skirmish games, renting guns until you can construct a UKARA defence allowing you to get your own airsoft weapons in the shortest time or find milsim games where you can rent weapons. We run milsim games every 4 months where you can rent and where games count for UKARA, but our December game is fully booked at the moment.
  12. Hi Danny. Do you want to skirmish, milsim or re-enact ?
  13. Cant comment on other sites or their insurers. Filmsim who operate our games have a set of specific rules for their use. We dont allow the powder ones or the impact detonation ones.
  14. We allow the use of these in our games. Some players now have the smokes as well which are now available.
  15. We offer a bridge between the Stirling/Tier and milsim lite approach. We are one of many milsim flavours. The problem occurs when passion for a flavour is seen as preaching. The OP is obviously into the Stirling flavour. Nothing wrong as long as he accepts he will get a minority support on a general airsofting forum and nothing wrong with us giving feedback providing we recognise his right to like what he likes. You are all customers. Everybody has the right to like what they want. We post up details of our games and activities. We appreciate that most have little or no interest, but we post to provide a diversity on an airsoft forum and for the benefit of those who ARE interested. Surely the OP is indirectly promoting organisers like Stirling which is no different an approach.
  16. Yes but isnt this the point. The OP describes the Stirling/Tier 1 approach which is fine if that is what you want. Not everybody wants that, there are other organisers who cater for the different flavours, right through to milsim light and the more object focussed skirmishes. The problems occur when people become so locked on, with their particular milsim flavour of choice, that they cant see anothers point of view. Decide what flavour you want, play with whom you want and just accept that not everybody likes what you like.
  17. We tend to factor in an MTP equipped force because so many players wear it and we try to be as inclusive as possible. However, we agree, there are so many interesting camos out there. Next game, we also have DPM, Flecktarn and most of the Russian camos represented. Because people often conserve energy and arent playing flat out like they often do at a skirmish, people tend to be chilled and good natured at our games. We inject a fair amount of tongue-in-cheek humour so people dont get too up themselves and we only play for maximum 8 hours each day.
  18. We used riot shields at our last milsim game which doubled as ballistic shields. Most skirmish sites dont allow them. Shotguns are more for CQB roles.
  19. As said by another poster, it depends on the organiser/game. In ours for example, its optional for the players. Some like to put on Russian accents and get into character and some dont. Fair enough - its their game. We do have staff playing characters. Last game, a peasant woman threw a cabbage at the guy playing the Prime Minister and a riot kicked off. Sometimes as a player, you can stand back and be a spectator. Other times, its more difficult. On the op before, the government patrol at a crossroads were shocked to see a farmer on a tractor roll up with an IED round his neck pleading for help. Not so easy to ignore. [name=Aunty Pasty" post="215236" timestamp="1442676954]One thing I need to ask regarding Milsims. Does it involve role-play? As in the LARP type of role-play where the players act or say certain things to maintain suspension of belief.
  20. This might be a valid kit list for a 48-72 hour milsim, but not all games are that long. There are a few organisers who run milsims that are day or weekend games where you dont need all this. Ive bought kit from WAS for my own use before but players dont have to buy professional kit to play milsim airsoft games.
  21. There is a DPM losely based loadout which yes is a Heinz 57 and allows a lot of latitude in kit for the rebels amongst us who dont like to conform. Its a bit like football teams - you can fight with the team you support or best like the look of. At the end of the day, it IS a game. If people feel the adrenaline rush and that gut wrenching twist sphincter twitch when a firefight kicks off or that "high" when you creep into the enemy camp undetected and manage to steal a hostage or a technological cutting edge gizmo right from under their nose, then thats what we hope for. We have quite a few ex mil players. They all know the difference between real combat and milsim games, but they still rave about them for weeks after. Its probably one of the closest things you can do in civilian life to reconstruct the cameradie and team work that most miss from their time in the military,
  22. To be honest - no. Some teams like to import kit because they like authentic camo or a particular rig, but Ive never seen any kind of elitism. Our loadout requirements are deliberately vague because not everybody can afford gucchi and our conflicts are deliberately fictional.
