probably another setting in bios - usb compatibility mode
Legacy support enable but a bitch to enter bios to change if usb keyboard not recognised like you say
Years ago the pc funny was:
turn on pc with no keyboard attached and it halts saying:
KEYBOARD ERROR
press F1 to resume
