You don't need to spend more than £850 nowadays for a good gaming pc (tower only), much less for adequate. Most of your money ends up in the £250 nvidia gfx card. What laptop do you have, maybe it has a thunderbolt port?
-
Can't speak to your site, as you haven't elaborated on it yet, but have you considered starting with a pistol? You get to go cheaper with quality and get gas blow back, sacrificing range.

Once you're in, you're in /envy

"in no less than two months" could do with a rewrite to make it more clear for those of us with certain problems, the law eh :/ Could be "Attending a single site. For UKARA registration you must attend at least one game which is two months after your first game for a minimum total of three games." I made this thread because I could not understand why WA could not sell to me after they were sure that I would be eligible (when in fact I was not), it was not clear to me, at the time of posting the OP, that I had to have at least one game at least 2 months AFTER the first game - towards a minimum of three games. Thanks for everyone's replies, sorry that I couldn't understand the underlined section. /thread

Good information, however I think you misread the OP.
-
Sorry, I do not understand what this means in relation to my previous comment.
-
That's not what the guy at wolf armouries said - I think he was wrong though. Also: To clarify if I've played 2-3 games with them and booked in for another two months after the first, then the database is a sure thing... That is to say, you don't need UKARA to buy them, just a reason/defence, and they would at that point have one. I get it's the way it is, but its annoying to locked to one site.

TL;DR - dont read the stikeout. Well, the one up at wikia is very weak atm. There are a lot of people with a lot to say on airsoft. I think a good way to go about it would be to start a compendium of useful resources and then look to combine them with references at a later time. For page categories, I suppose you'd start with Safety, then legality, then lethality ( ), followed by manufacturers of RIFs(including rebranders). A weapons table (sortable) page with the columns: Weapon name (as the manufacturer terms is), brand (manufacturer, if different), Closest real steel equ, GBB/AEG/Pneumatic/Spring, Classification (Pistol, Shotgun, Rifle/carbine, LMG, BASR), release date, stock FPS - and so on. That then floods the wiki with pages, ask a few retailers if you can copy (and reference) the information from their store pages, eg TWG has good (not saying its correct, but it sure is clear) info listings. Then pages for, Airsoft Origins, the honour system, Eye Protection, the most common injuries, trigger discipline common sense airsoft, what do you need for your first game, advantages of hiring guns, the cons of being a sniper, Airsoft is not Call of Duty, Field types, Game types, Milsim, milsim lite, cheating, teching, modding, types of gearbox, There is a lot of overlap with real steel that's true, but there is a lot of information to be relayed on airsoft. First problem - checking whether there actually is not an existing quality resource. EDIT: I don't agree, wiki's have great potential, however as I am not in a position to stock a wiki with information, I cannot posit the making of one any further.
-
Absolutely, a resource with a list of all available guns by manufacturer in one page, for example. Their tech specs, gearbox info and part lists all on one site. When I started airsoft the lack of a wiki was most disappointing.
-
It was already on my list when I posted it at 3AM, please do not take this as sarcasm. I appreciate your input and that you took the time to give thought and help, but you "appeared" to simply copy a domain from the OP, with no further information given - thus confusing, or simply failed to read the OP, I was not sure which. EDIT: The reason I do not have statistics for the site is because I have not yet joined because there is no point, I would simply waste time reading on there, going to wait till I have an AEG or two.

Thanks for sharing, I'll get trigger locks just in case. However I'm living in the over 25s building so not likely to run into any morons.
-
Sorry, somehow I thought this was the one in general discussion and the other one was in media. Got a little confused (at 4:30 am).

Do you have something to add?
-
Didn't you already post this thread?

So, as airsoft lacks wiki, and I cant find many sites dedicated to airsoft, most of the resources are buried in forums and youtube. Generally the characteristics of a forum (ignoring quality) are: Total posts/threads/members and how many members online in last hour/24 hours and most users online ever. Anonymous browsing can also be a telling feature. A lot of people think you go to a forum and ask a question, but often times looking where someone else has asked that question can be much more useful and quicker, albeit slightly more time consuming - and not consuming of others' time. I am looking for useful resources, are there any missing from below (looking for general resources in english)? Here is a list of Forums for airsoft I have located that are primarily in english(uk/usa) and are NOT obscure or tied to a specific skirmish site/club/team (retailers excluded). Note I have not included forums below a set size (recent visits) unless they are in the UK. They are ranked in order of usefulness to me (no other way). Mores the point, where, we can all rush off there and get registered before they get kicked off the register... oh wait that wouldn't help us.
-
Thanks for the rec, but £22 vs £12 cant be beat, i'll be going integrated next but a £12 option gives me lots of time to research.

I can now confirm evike truely are dicks, a second package I ordered containing no rifs, no rif parts, nor anything else remotely related to rifs - only clothing, was filed under this harm code - I've let UPS know I refuse to fill in this form, I will see what happens. It is my understanding that UPS charge £11 to clear packages through imports - I believe this packages should not even be stopped, just charged VAT and moved on to delivery.

Rather than necro this thread: I am going to play my first 3+ games with Wolf Armouries Bunker 51 Skirmish over a 6 week period, however, and this is where it gets confusing, they wont allow me to have any RIF until 59 days after my first game (and after the third). What I don't understand is this, they are the ones who will add me to the database on the 59th day but they wont let me have one between day 43 and 59. It's not like database rejections occur, its a done deal the moment you have proved to them you have played 3 games in 2 months. Please note this thread is about wondering why THEY wont sell me anything, not why I cant be put on the database. I want to go to skirmishes between day 43 and 59 - that's right I want to spend money on the industry!

Before getting into airsoft I checked whether I could store them in my current accommodation, Nerf guns were allowed last year so I checked the details and concluded that it would be okay. Whatever people reply is not going to change my mind, it's not like they will ever be uncovered anywhere other than MY room and skirmishes but I do wonder if you guys agree with my interpretation of the agreement I have signed: I am confident to argue that airsoft RIFs are not firearms or air pistols, but not so sure about offensive weapons. In my opinion an offensive weapon is highly subjective, a table leg is an offensive weapon, a kitchen knife is an offensive weapon, it's not the object but the user, however this is offensive weapons under their firearms category. If I ignore what they have wrote and examine the definition of "realisic imitation firearm (under 1J)" by the home office definition: because the home office classifies them as RIFs they are by the government's definition not firearms and thus not applicable to this rule in the contract I have signed - which would I believe arguably at least protects me for as long as it would take the UNI to redraft their rules and get everyone to re-sign. I only ask because they are allowed to enter our rooms when we are out as long as they give us notice (I currently do not possess a RIF, so I have not actually risked breaking this rule at this time).

I am loath to lie about anything, but if you don't know the velocity what do you do. I doubt they would or even could test an airsoft gun, but if you put the wrong thing or lied and got cought... Not to mention if you put "don't know". I suppose you could put, "don't know, it's brand new but if its above 1 joule I know how to reduce it".

Please delete this if it is already in a thread here, but I don't see it. UPS asked me to fill this out when I shopped at Evike, (https://www.gov.uk/trade-tariff/commodities/9305990000). Supposedly Evike flagged items in my order with this code. Update: Seems evike use this harm code even when they ship something which has nothing to do with airsoft. Lazy bastards. UPS charged me £11 to print out this form and hand it to a customs official - lost for words how horrible that is. On top of that, they ransom your package back to you with threats to return to sender - not that i've ever charged back but makes me glad I paid by credit card.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll let you know how it works out (saves me dropping £60 on good multicam trousers and the time to research it further).
-
Nop, Lib Dems got voted out

What are good brands for knee pads and/or trousers (multicam) with integrated knee pads? I wanted to kneel a lot at my first airsoft game. I am not on a limited budget for this because I have problem with one of my knees and need to give it specific protection. That said, I would prefer to be cost effective. Also, I know nothing about integrated knee pads, though I've heard can be removable. (I also don't know where to shop, but I assume I can just google the brands once I have the information.
