Depending on price I'm quite tempted by the 6.5 or 4 inch M29. I wonder what the power output is on green/propane? I know it'll be polymer/ABS but the lightweight appeals. I already have a skirmishable pair of Rhino 60Ds but they weigh a tonne, as does my modded DW 715 (10 minute job to make either site legal or a borderline insane piece). I love the Ares 686 but while I'm waiting for the combat magnum a 6.5" M29 with shells could be a lot of fun. I've considered the Wingun S&Ws but whilst the Rhino was consistent given their power output I do wonder if they're a bit inconsistent plus they're not in anyway site legal. I had an old (like 20 years ago old) Tanaka M29 with a zeke metal kit - the Ares is actually nicer looks wise & obviously performance wise. If the TM one has a properly adjustable hop & you can get it up to 270+ on green it could be a lightweight winner. I've not had hands on with their other gas revolver (the Python) but depending on the retailer its either 180 (!) or 280 plus its never really appealed. So yeh TLDR, adjustable hop & 270-280 & it could be lovely. TM hops tend to bje good out of the box & easily fettled.

Even something like command strips that will come off easily? a small bit of foam maybe even cut wedge shaped or just chamfered so you can still insert a mag without breaking it off?

yeah, i dont want to just rip things apart and break something by accident i might give that a try, but issue of anything under the paddles is keeping it fixed there with constant mags in and out not at home currently, so cant look, but IIRC there is only a small amount of the reciever under the top of the paddles, while the bottom part is exposed and could get caught if a mag is inserted/pulled out too quick... i will have a closer look once im home tomorrow or monday

Tried in the past to fit a QD delta armouries V2 into it but no dice for whatever strange reason - maybe an E&C will fair a little better in the future. I've found a QD spring guide that looks to fit from bullseye, so that's been ordered and after testing power after the fresh rebuild #383 (adding the compression parts) power's jumped all the way up from about 0.83J to around 1.3J with the hop set - I'll be downgrading the spring to a M110 or M100 when the new guide arrives to save me taking it out of the receiver twice (as it's from the era where QD was just the gearbox, not true QD) It's a shame about not being able to replace the cut-off with a new one as I'm pretty sure the switch assembly in this particular gearbox uses it as a blocker for the trigger rather than having it be by the trigger like your typical mechanical safety ala CYMA or similar, and considering it's meant to be a 'backup' or loaner gun I'm not too keen on jumping straight into a fresh gearbox w/ a perun just yet because at that point it gets into ship of theseus territory and I've got a few other unfinshed projects I'd rather plop the Perun I already have lined up into when time and money permits [need a dremel]

Just trying to think of other ways for you to solve this without modifying/ damaging your RIF... Gonna sound daft but try adding foam inside the paddles so you could still depress them but wouldn't release the mag if bumped? Foam like the stuff that comes in rif packaging? If it works you could look at a more permenant diy fix.

I guess you could ask which one gets you the most pound-weight per pound-sterling, as I can't think how else you'd compare them.
