I've had a couple of days off work & the site has pretty much been down so my idle hands have been busy...ish. Got a selection of Virtus recently and set up some manequins with some of my kit. Pattern 58, PLCE & 'desert' been set up for a while, had the Osprey mk4 for a couple of years & the Virtus the past couple of weeks... The Osprey mk4 is 2 diff setups, one lighter for ingame (the one time I used it) & the second set up in full with cumberbunds, shoulder guards, brassards & full collar. p.s. in true L85A1 style the mags fell out as I was about to take the pic.

"Free" is about the right price to pay for an SRC AK47 I'm ngl mate. Job lots are sadly almost always a big pile of crap that just doesn't sell otherwise.

You'd think if they was charging retail cost for a "basically new" but not new replica, they'd at least list the stuff added... Airsofters suck man 🙄

Faaaaaaaahk. I gotta stop buying job lots of stuff cos it seems cheap. Now I have a back bedroom full of average looking shite that I need to make awesome before selling it. 🤣 Saying that, I got a "free" SRC ak47 that I think may have pkm bits on it cos it's HUGE. I'm no ak expert at all. Took it apart to find the battery connection, only to find it has no wiring. Or selector plate. Ffs. Kinda like it though. Has actual wood on it too.

Whose interpretation of FDE do you have in mind? My Magpul FDE items are a slightly different colour to FDE items I have from other brands and between those brands a lot of them are different too. Do you have a Pantone or Hex colour code for reference? I don't know which filament would be suitable but you're best off being clear so a recommendation doesn't have a greater colour mismatch than you'd like.

I have an L1A1 and a VZ58.

Had both the MS700 and later stupidly, when I could afford it the Ares MS338, externals were fantastic, the internals were dogshit. Main trigger sear in both examples snapped into pieces within 20 shots a piece, requiring extremely expensive aftermarket options just to do the bare minimum. Amoeba Honey Badger, that the stock ETU caught fire on its first use, and turned the gun into a lovely pile of beige plastic gloop. Round 2, when a local tech pulled the warranty replacement apart to remove the problematic ETU before plugging anything into it, discovered that the sector gear and bevel gear were made of clear plastic, on a £250 'premium' gun back in 2014. G36, which for some reason only known to the intelligent people at Ares, was shipped out with an M170 spring, resulting in a gearbox shell that was cracked at the front of the cylinder, such that when the gearbox was removed the front of the shell clean fell off. M320 GLM, where the primary receiver lugs for the hinge clean snapped off after 50 odd shells being reloaded. Tavor 21, first generation, plastic gears in a £370 gun. I have a much longer list, but that is why there is hate for Ares. They're like VFC AEG's, briliant externals (most of the time) but internals which need to be, most of the time, completely replaced OOTB.

I had one of their aw.338's and it was..... not great. IIRC their Tavors looked really nice but had some issues as well. That said my mate loves his L1A1.

Quite an old brand, way back i think they were called Star, or they swallowed the Star brand up ? 🤔, some of their early kit was pretty good, but they never really evolved enough like other brands, & let themselves (& us) down by making most if their internals proprietary, & from soft as 💩 materials. Its amazing their still around, & i say that as a former fan-boi.

Very nice, a steel slide/barrel Beretta is on my list, don’t see them often.

I'm sure there is some hate toward Ares coming from people on the bandwagon but there is reasonable criticism as Colin alluded to. There are so many unnecessary decisions made in their design department that add to people's grievances such as trying to be edgy by using a clockwise thread on the outer barrel or forcing a vendor lock-in with proprietary gearbox casings based on v2. I happen to own one Ares AEG that has been extremely reliable but when its mosfet or something else in the gearbox goes, finding spares is either going to be really difficult or so expensive that I can just spend the money on or toward something else more modern and serviceable.
