casual-player
Hi, I played my first airsoft game and would like to do it again few time a year. As the rental price at my site is around £30 per game, I am thinking about getting my own gun. Started looking and I would like to know the difference between say this gun: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/delta-armory-da-c03-charlie-tm-m4a1-ras-aeg and this: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/delta-armory-r15-freya-tm-gen-2-10-m-lok-m4-ar-15-aeg?pv=26529 Based on my very limited research, its mostly about 'feel', ease of use (mofset etc) and realiablity. Does the accuracy and fire power differs from cheaper gun and more expensive ones, as fps is anyway limited? My plan is to upgrade gun with optical magnifier scope. My goal is to get something I can be competitive without breaking the budget (say £200 with scope), as I will be playing maybe 4-6 times a year + some home target practice. So accuracy and fire power are important, other things less (unless someone will use good arguments to convince otherwise). Tackle

The_Lord_Poncho
Both will be playable options, unlikely to be any real difference in range and accuracy between the two. Metal body on the more expensive is a personal preference thing only. The electronic trigger unit in the more expensive offers a little more functionality, and would allow for a 'snappier' feel when shooting. In reality though, it is unlikely to translate into more eliminated enemy players.... Specna also offer some rifles (polymer bodies, but with electronic triggers) around the price of the cheaper of your two delta armory links - worth a look! casual-player

Cannonfodder
Performancewise there's bugger all difference. It just depends on whether you prefer m-lok or ris rails to attach things. Personally I prefer ris rails as they're more common. Pick whichever one you prefer the look of. If you want to use x sight I'd go with a red dot over a scope as engagement ranges are short enough in airsoft that you don't really need one casual-player
ButcherBill
Before you go buying any toys, use hire until you get your ukara THEN buy your fist one, if your stepson has got you interested in airsoft and has their own toys, borrow them for game days & try different types if you can until you know what you like to use & where. Cannonfodder
Butcher bill makes a very good point. Renting or using borrowed guns till you get your site membership means you're not stuck with a two tone. Also if the site has different rental guns you can try different ones to see what suits you. For example I prefer shorter guns like SMGs or carbines as I like to get sneaky and find longer guns get caught up on bushes more easily EDcase
EDcase
I also agree with ButcherBill. £30 is a very good price for renting so take advantage until you are registered with UKARA. Each time you go you'll be able to talk to others about their pews and maybe test them too so you can get a better idea of what suits you. Nothing worse than rushing into a purchase (even if you think you're taking your time) and realising you made a poor choice. The sales section always has them and you will lose a lot of money trying to sell a two tone. Galvatron
Galvatron
I couldn't agree more about doing rental first or borrowing from your stepson if possible. Getting a two-tone before waiting to get a UKARA defence is arguably worse in the long term whether you decide you really enjoy it and decide to get another gun or if you decide airsoft is not for you. Two-tone depreciates a lot more than a RIF because it has little demand from those who can buy the latter. Even if you paint over or remove the bright colour from a two-tone (technically illegal but I'm not aware of any prosecutions), it'll still be considered less desirable and fetch less as you try reselling it. As EDcase alluded too, there are too many cases where we've had to tell people the harsh reality that they'll have to eat up a big loss to shift any two-tone guns they're reselling.
